Ok the fact that his name is November Rain is fabulous… I have always wanted to name a horse that!!!

Tazer I am so glad you nabbed this guy. What a great home he will now have.

It is so cool finding these older horses and figuring out their identity. And what an identity this boy had…

I just found this thread also and have read all of it. I would love to see a photo of November Rain. I tried to find it through the link, but it was deleted. If someone kept the sale photo, maybe you could put it on photobucket and post it. Thanks!

Such a happy ending for this fine fellow. No wonder he knew he was special. Best of luck to you Tazer and November Rain.

Take pictures!

Does anyone know a girl named Altaire? Was is the Kansas area, but was from Canada. She had a horse that was long listed for the Canadian team and that horse looks similar to me. I could be totally wrong, but she has been in some hard times.[/QUOTE]

You are referring to Altair and Beth Underhill. Altair was injured and is/was enjoying retirement at Beth’s farm with her previous mount, Monopoly. So … not the same horse.

nlk, thank you for bring this lovely boy to the attention of those able to save him.

I do hope you’ll keep his name of November Rain… It’s lovely.

I can’t remember the original picture, but is this him?

Congratulations!!!

I think I am officially addicted to this thread!!! Congratulations for being able to offer this guy the retirement he deserves… He is truly a diamond in the rough!!! please keep up posted and let us know if their is anything that this guy needs!!! Might just send some much needed treats and supplements your way for this wonderful guy!
Let us know… and once again, congratulations!!!

Please let us know when he gets home and is safe. Bless you, he’s a lucky horse.

How exciting that you got so much info and a show record so fast! So nice to know that this grand old man is going to have the retirement he deserves!

USEF has him recorded:
#4622728, November Rain, foal date 1/1/87, Aussie passpost, recorded owner is top junior Kacey McCann (previous owners listed on horse report page). Competition records have him doing the A/O and Jr Jumpers. His last recorded show was in May of last year (low jr’s at Keswick).

Very sad that this boy slipped through the cracks in less than a year.

Ok, I was so thrilled to read that a fellow OC’er was going to take this horse that I PM’d Tazer to offer any help I could… turns out she’s a friend of mine!
DOH!

Anyway, Dux is certainly a very lucky horse to have passed into her radar [Thank you wonderful Vet!] because he will be so well cared for.
I just talked to her on the phone and this story… it’s just amazing and heartwarming. Cliche, but true.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
I go from smiling to crying to smiling… what a wonderful thing.

Once again I wanted to say THANKYOU TAZER!! This is a wonderful thing you have done for a very special horse… many years of happiness to both of you!!

So sad how quickly a horse can go from the top to the bottom! Still curious about how he went from competing last year to the dealers for $500…

Thank you Tazer for providing a good home for this guy!!! It is so nice to hear of the happy outcome to this story!

This has been a great thread and I have been following it for a while. If you search November Rain on the USEF site you can see his show results starting in 2004. He has a very impressive show record. He was still doing the grand prixs in 2004, 6 years after being at the Olympics!
Congrats Tazer, it seems you got a diamond in the rough. It seems he was showing in the level 6’s last year!

Is this perhaps the same horse registered with the USEF as “November Rain”?

USEF #4622728

Foal Date: 1/1/1987
Color: Chestnut Sex: G
Sire: COUNTRY DOCTOR
Dam: TASHA
Membership Type: Life

KACEY MC CANN
PALMYRA, PA
Owner ID:4023892
Non-Member

Passport No.: AUS00538
FEI Registration: Not Registered for 2009
Passport Status: FEI Passport Expired On 01/24/2006

Last competed 5/14/08 in VA - by USEF records, he and Ms McCann did the Junior Jumpers and A/Os

So happy for you guys. I would also like to know who turned their back on this horse…

I’m sorry I did the USEF search now (but someone else would have anyway) because I am PO’d. How did this horse go from being owned by one of the top junior riders in the country to being sold for $500 in less than a year? If he couldn’t work due to soundness issues and they couldn’t afford to retire him decently, why not give him a dignified end and put him down? If he was dumped at a lesson barn his fate was dubious from the day he set foot in the lesson barn. Lesson horses that can’t work anymore generally do not go “out to pasture”. This horse could very well have ended up on a truck headed to Canada if the link to his ad was never posted . Thank heavens for the OP and Tazer.

Old Grey Mare, I am looking for info too.
There are several horses with that name and we have no idea if this is even THE November Rain…
We’ll know more when Tazer lays eyes on him and can look into it.
He’s landed in a wonderful place. I am going to spend a little time being thankful that my wonderful friend and the wonderful Vet care as much as they do.

Why don’t we wait until the horse is safely in Tazer’s hands, and then perhaps she’ll come back and fill in more details. Please let’s not start the blame game when all the facts aren’t out. Right now, let’s let Tazer focus on getting this guy home safe and sound. I am sure she’ll come back and post an update once that happens.

I agree. The horse is in transit now and will arrive late afternoon. More to come…
