She’s always been cute in any color. The rust/green is so great with her hair/skintone!
I bought a pair of rust breeches from Horse Country. They are nice and stretchy AND they are NOT low rise. Seems these days, that all the breeches I try are low rise. WELL I’m in my 60s and this is NOT a great look for me!!
Love the color! And the material is very comfortable - lots of give in the material but it keeps its shape.
Would I show in them? Don’t think so. But they sure are great for my daily rides!
Fuller Fillies has some gorgeous rust breeches in knee patch and full seat. I’ll happily wear them any competition I’m permitted. I’d wear them in the dressage ring if I was allowed (EC)
I get compliments on them every time I wear them off site

ZOMBIE THREAD![/QUOTE]
The idea of zombies wearing rust breeches seems oddly appropriate.
I love me some rust. I wore them in the 80’s with a navy jacket and white tone on tone shirt. I was kind of a messy kid back in the day, and had to work for my trainer at the shows, so I really liked rust breeches b/c they hid dirt better than beige or — GASP, hold on folks – LIGHT GRAY breeches, which made a brief appearance in my part of the country circa 1983.
My trainer also liked the color in equitation classes on the heavier kids at my barn. She said they were slimming because they were darker.
I would embrace my inner '80s – and wear them today – in a heartbeat!! (especially if they ARE in fact slimming!!) if I could get back into my Grand Prix brown glen plaid jacket (that has a rust stripe in it). Sadly, I don’t think I will ever get into it again.
BTW, I have a Devon Horse Show program from circa 1980, and George Morris is on the cover, showing in the regular working hunters. He’s rocking a light tan jacket, rust breeches, and brown Ray-ban looking aviator sunglasses. I kind of think his boots were brown field boots, too.
I had light grey and rust…
my jacket was wait for it… hunter green
and tone on tone white shirt with monogrammed collar of course! Silver thread in a triangle monogram.

I remember light grey being a thing way back when I first started showing. I actually completely forgot about it until this thread made me think of it, and I actually wouldn’t mind if grey were a thing again.
I had rust jods and my first pair of breeches were light grey. I still love rust.
#80s
Occasionally you see one or two at a schooling show. I’ve never seen anyone in rust at an A or AA show… At least not in the past 25 years…
Oops, 50 shades, because I wore mine at Upperville.
Still heart them.
I think rust is going to make a huge comeback now that TS has brought them back as apart of their tan knee patch vintage line of breeches. I have brown field boots, a brown samshield, brown gloves, and a pair of the rust TS breeches… I think I’m going to give my trainer a heart attack!!!
HJdaydream-- link to these? I thought TS stopped production of rust, but they’ve brought them back with the contrasting patch??

They are STUNNING in person, and not too bright, I adore them.
They will be mine.
The rust and the redwood are not out of style. Tailored sells quite a bit of these colors. but it is a matter of personal taste. They are permitted in the show ring.
We have gal in our barn who wears rust when she shows on grass. The getup is phenomenal, rust pants, brown boots, green coat. Her horse is a chestnut and they just look brilliant.
I have two greys and a bay. I feel like maybe the rust is ok with the bay but probably not the greys? sigh, I am so loving the look!
Rust is even more of a thing now than in 2014, in my world… my dressage rider friends are asking about it now too!
