is this really linda parelli?

Unless it falls under “fair use,” right? Which would include using it for educational or satirical purposes, which could be claimed here.
Yeah, but those are arguments to be made to a judge- shut the site down first, ask those questions later.

Educational it is, you are right, but maybe not in the way it was intended.

Actually the Fair Use probably does not apply since the video is not made available on line for public view. It is sold by a private party, and if you look on the box somewhere I would guess there is a pretty clear statement by the corporation as to how it can and cannot be used.

Of course who knows if this is even the reason why the blog is down…I have just had to defend my work over and over legally from theft so it is a sore spot for me

I had a boss once who wouldn’t tell me what she wanted and the rules kept changing. Three months in an she had me convinced that my career path was a mistake, I was hopeless and stupid.

This video reminds me of that. Take a (seemingly) reasonable horse and change the rules unfairly and punish him for not answering correctly when you don’t know what answer you want yourself and voila! Nervous breakdown!

And she seems way to angry to be working with a horse. If I ever feel myself getting mad I put the horse away and go sit in a corner til I recover.

Yesssssss!

That’s what I’m always trying to say when people that use old fashioned “good horsemanship” try to say not all NH is bad. Of course it’s not. The good stuff is just good horsemanship that has been around for ages.

The other fluffy “NH” stuff is fine for people wanting to play fun games with their horse or needing ideas to stimulate a horse on rehab, but a lot of it can be dangerous in the hands of beginners. It’s more “trick training” than NH, and that’s not something a lot of beginners have much success with (they can’t maintain their horse’s respect through the “trick” training process). The legit training methods that some so called "NH"ers use are generally techniques old timers and good horsemen have been using for aaaages - it just sounds better to beginners who want warm and fuzzy trainers to coddle them and their furbabies…

Also for editorial/critical discussion reasons - just saying…

You are missing the real issue sdlbredfan, the PP’s could care less about Fugly. And considering that most horsepeople are more busy with their horses than reading blogs…I would say a huge portion of the horse population has never heard of her either. Which reminds me, I need to get off the computer now and go de-mud some horses

The real issue is that this video was reproduced. The reproduction is a direct copyright violation and it is subject to fines and imprisonment. Fugly probably only posted what was already copied and posted on that other blog, but the fact remains that she did indeed post it and by displaying it on her blog she is guilty of copyright infringement.

I would bet the Parelli’s are less concerned with Fugly’s comments because seriously…would any of us buy the video’s anyway? It more of a case that a potential buyer will use the bootleg copy instead of buying one that they are worried about.
I’ve way out of the loop on Copyright law, but IIRC “fair use” includes the reproduction of small sections of a copyrighted work for purposes of criticism. Since this was a very few minutes of a much longer video I doubt that any finding of a copyright violation would stand (unless, of course, we start importing Italian jurists  ).

G.

Sure looks and sounds like Parelli, right down to the rope halter and special extra heavy “lead rope” they promote & sell for training. She’s doing a good job of ruining this poor horse forever.
Of course I will admit to being leery of the Parelli training methods after dealing with too many Parelli fanatics with badly or untrained horses.

All I can say is that she is damn lucky she didn’t try that with my horse…I am sure mine would have taught her a few things right before I tag teamed her with him!

What exactly was she trying to do…stop a horse from looking around? That is the craziest thing I have ever seen and obviously all of her FAB methods were working oh sooooo well! What a fruitbat.

I think I am more confused then that poor horse.

I ought to slug you!

I ought to slug you!

.

Good parelli work there with the OW !!WTFdoyouwant style THUNK in the haid.

Watching that video really hacks me off big time. If anyone ever treated my horse in such a fashion, I would beat the living crap out of them myself.

Now, I am NOT a Parelli follower, and I think the people that can’t really think for themselves do follow them. If they can’t figure out how to change a horse’s behavior on their own, they go and start drinking the damn Kool-aid.

I employ some NH tactics on my horses, but they aren’t the jerk and slap methods. I had a horse that was brought to me last fall that would walk ALL over you, run you over if he found something to spook at.

I took his butt to the round pen, and he learned that if he didn’t pay attention to me, and give me space and respect, he had to work really hard. I got my point across without jerking, slapping, and otherwise confusing him. Now, he is a perfect gentleman.

Parelli so called ‘horsemanship’ is a freaking joke!

lulwat?

Explain to me how she ‘reproduced’ it?
What I thought I saw on her blog was a link to a publicly, and even since her blog has been down easily found, available vid clip.

Actually Angela, the cached page shows the video…embedded…into her blog. That is the difference. Especially if the video was replicated without permission from the copyright holder in the first place.

Ok I get it, so if there has simply been a link then it would be ok? Or more ok?
Interesting.

Did anybody else notice the other horse in the background being lunged during the first 1:45 is also staring at this spectacle like WTF is going on?

I only watched until 2:05. Idiot. I couldn’t take it anymore.

Oh dear god I just watched a few mins of the video and couldn’t watch any longer. It was horrible. What were they trying to do?! Traumitize the poor horse? And this is why I tell people to stay far far away from the cool aid!

Have you guys seen this PP statement from her website?
http://www.parellinaturalhorsetraining.com/A-statement-from-Linda-Parelli
Even has a statement from the horse owner who saw this on COTH.
What BS!
