It's Here! Maryland 5*

She is a stunning horse - got to see her go in person last winter and everything just seems effortless for her - big future ahead no doubt!

No need to apologize, I’m grateful for the correction! I admit I didn’t see the fall with my safety analysis glasses on, so I’m glad to hear your perspective.

Honor Me has been withdrawn before SJ. They didn’t really have a great day on xc yesterday, so probably wise to save him for another day.

Lifetime - Her sire is Lingh. Is that Lingh the dressage horse? It could be - Flemingh is Holsteiner and lots of TB blood on bottom. But maybe not. I couldn’t find her whole pedigree anywhere.

Sam Watson was on the USEA podcast talking about it this week.

He broke it again at Land Rover Kentucky 2019. Here’s the x-ray before surgery from that one. Scroll down.

I did get a chance to rewatch before they removed it. It looked to me as if the jump started fine, and THEN he dropped a front leg, and got hung up (perhaps he slipped on take off?)

At that point the fence collapsed, PD came off, and Singapore came down first with knees and then head.

I am absolutely not an expert, but to me it looked like the fence collapsing prevented this from being a rotational fall.

Yes. https://horsetelex.com/horses/pedigree/2172964/d-a-lifetime

A little under 50% blood.

I was able to slow it down. His right leg went over as normal, the left hung and triggered the fence. He came down on the left knee with his face planted right on the grass, head at an ungodly angle. Then his hindquarters followed over like doing a somersault. His back legs were flailing but did not actually make contact with the rider from the view we got.

I cannot believe he didn’t break his neck. He is going to hurt a lot for a long time if my 2 cervical and 3 lumbar compression fractures are anything to go by.

Still seems odd that Maryland hasn’t been featured at all in the Equiratings social media - I thought they would be all over it.

The coverage has started! I’m finally watching live! Of course, I need to be starting the school run in 4 hours so I guess it’s an all-nighter for me.

We sell halters and lead shanks. We donated prizes for 1-10th place so lots of fancy horses are about to be sporting our stuff.
It’s much colder and overcast but still great weather for this event.

How lovely of you! I hope you did a great bit of business this weekend.

I just have to say, after watching the cross-country livestreams yesterday, I would never have predicted phrases like, “you have to commit to the crab,” would become such a common part of eventing lingo.

The crowd is doing such a good job! Oohing, ahhing, and cheering at all the right moments. And such big cheers when they cross the finish!

Does the show management have to sign up and provide them the data? I see they’re using Hippo Data for the scoring so could that be why?

That was the grey I loved yesterday - Babylon

I love Dom’s love for Boly, but that horse must be SO STRONG. Even Dom looks winded/slightly terrified after riding him in the showjumping, much less cross-country.

Poor Buck. Really been a shite weekend for him.

Driving rein–glad that was pointed out to me, I wouldn’t have noticed Buck was riding with them, if the commentator hadn’t said so!
