Lainey and Frodo Thread

so sad

crap, this is not what i wanted to hear, i saw the update on the rolex site last night but could not get on here to post. i had really weird nightmares last night and was hoping to wake up and things would be different. i just saw lainey last week, she was is so nice, cannot believe something so tragic can happen to the same person twice. she did not deserve this and my prayers and thoughts are with her and her family. praying for a quick and speedy recovery of her body and mind and spirit.

rip frodo :frowning:

Condolences and Prayers

My heartfelt condolences to Laine and everyone associated with her ‘team’.

My prayers that her love for Frodo and fond memories of their partnership will ultimately exceed the pain she must feel in her heart right now.

RIP, Frodo Baggins.

My condolences to her on the loss of her horse.

I am glad she is not severely injured.

SO SO sad. RIP Frodo.

I feel so terrible for Lanie. Not only two animals, horses, or friends, but two PARTNERS! I can only imagine how much these animals mean to these riders with the amount of time they spend working together. My heart goes out to Lanie and her family, as well as everyone involved. I wish Lanie a speedy recovery with no complications.

One of the four featured pairs for Rolex this year too :frowning: GAH so so sad! :’(

Don’t the USEA or the event organizers have any kind of public affairs official to handle this kind of thing?

Seems they should have some official channel to communicate facts in this age on instant information…and speculation.

Not that I think the news of poor Frodo is anything good if all was as described…but we don’t even have anything official about the rider condition.

But even the race tracks have somebody to handle information.
They do and Janet posted it later - but come on - give the organizers a chance - with the live webcast and people watching and typing posts as horses compete - organizers still need time to receive/confirm the status of any horse and rider.

That said - what a sad day… my heart goes out to those who suffered injury/loss of their equine partner

Jingles and prayers for Laine to have speedy recovery. My heart just breaks for her, her family and all of those close to Frodo. I am trying very hard to remember her joy coming off the course on Mazetto and not her fall with Frodo.

My exact picture too - all the joy between Laine’s entire support system…very obviously loving the horse and the sport and all the work, sweat, sacrifice, and care it took to bring them to that perfect moment…gone in the same day.

All I’m going to concentrate on today is feeling for Laine, her mom, her family and friends.

http://www.laineashker.blogspot.com/ the latest update on lainey is the first post. Sending all my positive thoughts and prayers to lainey and her family…

Bad update on Lainey’s blog:

http://laineashker.blogspot.com/

Laine was severely injured in the cross country course at the Rolex Three-Day event in Lexington, Kentucky yesterday, April 26, 2008. She was riding Frodo Baggins when the fall occurred. Laine was immediately airlifted to the University of Kentucky hospital where she remains in stable but critical condition in ICU. She suffered a severely broken jaw, a broken collar bone, and multiple fractured ribs. The fractured ribs pierced her lungs which both collapsed and she is currently on a ventilator. There are no surgeries scheduled yet as her lungs need time to heal to the point that she can breathe on her own again.

The family asks that you remember Laine in your prayers. This site will be updated daily with her progress so please check back here for news of her condition.

CRAP…

Sending all my prayers and thoughts for Laine and her family during this most difficult of times. She’s a strong young lady and a tough competitor, she’ll come through this and recover.

the only words that come to mind:

DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT

Laine SO does not deserve this to happen to her! I will be keeping her in my thoughts this week for a speedy and full recovery

oh no!!!

i hope she gets better soon!!! how awful…and after knowing what happened to your pony too…how awful!

my thoughts and prayers and jingles for her and her family and all of frodo’s friends!

I can’t begin to imagine the emotional pain she is in. I am sure that the physical pain compares nothing to it. I woke up this morning and this fog of sadness immediately fell over me. I know that all she wants to do right now is go take care of her horse, and she can’t. He’s gone and she can’t get up. Laine, I don’t know you but you are in my thoughts. We are planting flowers today and I will plant them for you. They will be Frodo’s flowers.

Yeah, I’m 5 hours ahead of you guys and after waiting up until 2:00AM for news I finally went to bed. I woke up about 10 the next morning and felt this sense of dread…then remembered why and went to check. Not the news I wanted to hear .
We’re all pulling for you Lainey - I’m sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

How terrible!
I was watching the webcast, then left for dinner and come back to all this! How tragic for Laine to go through this twice… hoping that Frodo is going to be alright!
Could someone please tell me what happened to her the first time? I keep reading that on different posts and would like info.

MY heartfelt condolences to Lainey and her family and team at the loss of Frodo. Also, best wishes to her for a speedy recovery. I cannot even begin to imagine what she is going through. I’m going out to hug my little herd. Godspeed Frodo.

This is one of those rare occasions where I simply can’t say much of anything. I literally can’t find words for any of it beyond the simple musings of these few sentences. I just hope this is the end of it.
agreed… I don’t even know what to think… its hard to comprehend.
I’m so glad I wasn’t at that fence.

I just talked to a friend who saw the accident and said it was horrible. Frodo went down, got up, and then went back down…:cry::cry::cry:
