As one who has already used this frozen semen service, I can highly recommend. In addition, it is very handy to have semen on the west coast, especially with an impending surprise ovulation.

As far as West Coast inventories, Merijane Malouin and Katie Kuhn (VDL) are in SoCal.

Is there any way of having one of the Mods merge this thread into yours? No point in having 2 run at the same time …

I’ll ask and see …

I did have to really giggle at the link your posted though:

And what are your experiences with them?

These are the ones I know about

Judy Yancey - http://www.yancey-farms.com/gallery.html

A1 Performance - http://a-1performancesires.com/

Mountain Creek - http://www.mountaincreeksporthorses.com/

Frozen Stallions - http://frozenstallions.com/index.php

There must be others that we can list as well!

Judy and Anne have been great to work with as has Elisha. I have never heard of Frozen Stallions before so dont know how they are to work with. But between the lot of them they seem to have a fabulous assortment of stallions available for us North American breeders! :)[/QUOTE]

I used to do quite a bit when Raphael was alive, and brought in Landor S and Lordanos to North America at that time as well. But once he ® died, it lost its lustre, and so I sold out pretty well all the stallions I had besides Ravallo, and am now happy to let other brokers have the headaches:-)

EMCO

EMCO’s website is back up. Christine is great to work with and has a lot of nice event stallions.

NEVER use Judy Yancey. She is horrible. A month before I was going to breed I told her the dates the mare would be ready. I paid her and sent her the address of the clinic. The day before I was hauling to the breeding facility I called to make sure they received the semen. They had not. I called her and asked her why she had not sent it. She said " I’m not a mind reader!!!" I have so many orders here I can’t keep them all straight. I could not believe it. I had to pay for a special delivery and get yelled at by Judy. Then, the vet called me and told me there was only one straw. This is my first time breeding and I’m learning along the way. I just figured that one straw was one dose, so I told him that was all I paid for, good luck. Looking through my contract now I see that one dose is three straws. I e-mailed her and she told me there were three straws and my vet must not know what he is doing because she checked her inventory. Do you think my vet is a liar? One of them is a liar that’s for sure and extremely rude. She also gives 24 hours to report a discrepancy and she makes this very clear in her contract. Now I see why. I will purchase my next dose from the man on the moon before I ever give that lady another dime. I have been reading and see that I am not the only person she has done this to. How do people like this sleep at night? STAY AWAY FROM YANCEY FARMS!

Maj

Kathy Hickerson At Majestic Gaits sold me some Rebel Z and I was very happy with her service and semen quality.

Not a frozen semen importer - but they are a distributor…

I’d like to give a shout out to Hagyard Equine in Kentucky, and to Kitty White in the reproductive services division in particular.

Whenever I’ve need doses shipped to myself, or my clients…her attention to detail, her COMMUNICATION and her speed in execution has been without fault. It’s kinda scary really. Possibly the most professional outfit I’ve ever dealt with in the horse world. Every single time they just astonish me.

Did they have a list or is it just through Select Breeders services?

Good question. Fielding was taught to collect there (I really recommend them highly for that too. He went in having never bred a mare, and came out a confident, mannerly professional in the breeding shed) and while he was there I had him frozen.

THey should have a list of available frozen stallions stored there…if they don’t I’ll suggest it.

Now that I have had time to reflect…for the short time I was a stallion owner I was truly blessed by some excellent professional associations. I hope the good deeds they did for me come back to them threefold.

I’m new here and getting into this thread late. Does anyone know where to find a distributor for frozen semen from the Nijhof stallion “Spielberg”? Any info about him would be helpful. His height and bloodlines would be great for my mare and my amateur riding abilities for training the foal. Thanks, Carolyn
