Or you could look at it that Ollie helped that horse and did his part to stay on through some determined riding.
Keep in mind the rain was absolutely pelting down when Ollie went. It was slippery as ever out there and in the tack.

Doug was only 1 second inside the time with all the angles and turns. Am I the only one thinking maybe the time should be adjusted?
Still doesnāt explain re-presenting a noticeably lame horse. Honestly. Iāve seen American riders do this and get spun and I find it embarrassing. When the horse is head bobbing, you withdraw. To do otherwise is an embarrassment to the sport. Riders ambitions over horse welfare. I say the same about Boyd who is clearly too hurt to ride well enough for his horses.
Great ride by Doug Payne!
Ollie is not known for his horsemanship. I found it funny upthread when people would rather him win than ML. Theyāre cut from the same cloth.
I used to think that but after meeting him I have a totally different opinion.
I didnāt see the jog so I canāt comment on that.
Was he clear I missed it?
Ollieās horse was definitely off, and Iām not great at seeing it. Especially turning at the end. Very sore on the LH.
Yeah. Heās a great rider and competitor and thatās very different from being a great horseman. He did everything he could to get those horses around under the time yesterday and everything he could to get them through the jog and heāll do everything he can short of jump the fences himself to win today. But as much as I like to win he isnāt someone Iād ever let ride one of my own horses.
Yeah what horse and course was it that he beat the snot out of his horse spanking him for speed?
What on earth happened with Tsetserlegās fall on XC yesterday? I watched it over and over and he looked fine coming into it, not nearly as flat as a lot of the others and not super fast. Itās like he just didnāt quite get that one leg up high enough.
Leslie Law made that course look easy.
That was a really lovely jumping round from Leslie Law. Doesnāt hurt that I love a chestnut, either!
He was too fast and too flat and getting flatter. He needed to set up way more and he just hung a leg but momentum took them down.
Very nice from Phillip. Iām wondering why he isnāt wearing the pinque coat though. Maybe itāll come out later with Z?
OT has been a win-at-all-costs rider since Day 1 of his 5* career (then 4*).
He started out in 5*'s on the chestnut horse whose name I forget, a horse that was clearly over his head on a 5* course and doubtful if fit enough for it. OT used his physical strength to just lift and carry that horse around the course. In this day & age, I think he would have been pulled off some of those courses due to concern for the horse.
Then OT got better horses from Andrew Nicholson and elsewhere ⦠but his mentality seems to be the same.
The guy can ride, he can stick the tough ones and get a horse around. Good athletes who have some kind of feel for a horse can do that. Doesnāt make them true horsepeople, though.
I really donāt like watching Buck do dressage, but I really like his jumping.
What the heck is on Kittyās face?
That was a nice round for ML
just looks like a pelham with two reins, and some kind of rope-like noseband? Hard to see for sure though on the video
