I’m really glad you’ve never seen me hiding out in my apartment looking a hot mess during a bout of depression… and then at work/out with friends/etc (sometimes even the same day!) looking perfectly normal. Would hate to hear what kind words you’d have to say… and that’s under far less extreme circumstances, with far less serious disease.
I guess it’s good that you have no experience with knowing people in jail in normal circumstances, much less under a pandemic and think that it’s just that easy to snap your fingers, get a court order, and a haircut, and decent shampoo/soap. But the reality is, even without COVID restrictions, lots of jails didn’t have or make those accommodations.
Add in that when the trial started, that specific jail was still on COVID lockdown, that made things even more difficult.
The fact that some gang-bangers can show up in a suit with a haircut in some random other courthouse maybe from some other random jail, with or without a freaking pandemic changing everything has Zero bearing on Michael’s situation.
(For anyone that watched the Darrell Brooks trial, did you happen to hear them discussing how he only got a shower every third day?) yeah, super easy to just get spiffed up for court.
Edit to add: I have no reason to doubt LO, because I have worked with defendants in jail, without a pandemic. It’s not pretty.
Ummmm COVID played a huge part of not allowing people even in jail not getting close together.
There is not a fancy shamcy salon in jails.
I don’t think MB even got a chance to ever go outside.
LO lie. I doubt it. For what reason? Don’t give me some s reason.
And the minuscule amount of a banned substance that will show up in a test panel??? Remember folks don’t wipe your nose on your horse! ( or let cray cray druggies feed them sugar cubes)
It isn’t so far fetched to think that LK would think to dose a sugar cube. I am about her age, and I recall people dosing sugar cubes with acid being a thing in college.
Or grooms peeing in stalls. Am I making this up or didn’t some trainer claim a positive cocaine test was due to groom peeing in the stall?? /s
ETA: added /s because yeah right… but… it’s true trace amounts can test.
I think I have heard that one in the past. It’s not actually impossible, which is why it gets pulled out once in a while.
The more common one is mixing up the feed tubs, because that is actually a thing that can happen very easily, no matter who you are.
Obviously that one does not work with substances that are completely banned, but with overages on allowed substances.
I just learned that my mare has to be pulled off of Zyrtec before showing (not currently showing since putting her on it)… so I can see how that can happen with feed. Not so much the cocaine. Lol.
Coolest thing ever posted on these boards.
Didn’t LK share that letter about how awful the conditions were in the jail… No hot water for showers, for one?
She was quite happy it seemed so awful.
But now it was a week at the spa.
No pressure, right?
There have been some upper level riders who have been stunned when their horse failed a drug test and it ended up being a handler who had handled a drug and then touched the competition horse and transferred the substance. Not all banned substances are nefarious, either. Other horses in the barn could be in rehab and on the drug and it be accidentally fed or transferred via contact.
It doesn’t make sense that LK would feed MHG’s horse despite being asked not to. She has no reason to insist on doing that. LK accused MB of abusing horses and that would fit perfectly with that narrative. LK is also not of the highest moral standards either. JMHO.
Also, wasn’t MB facing 80 years in prison? He had spent a great deal of time in jail already. Any day of institutionalization or incarceration ticks by the extremely slow. I imagine he was facing some extremely harsh realities.
Also, mental illnesses are compounded by stress. They will rear their very ugly heads when stress in high. He could have been suffering delusions or God knows what else during the trial. I would imagine his stress level reduced significantly with the verdict. The verdict it self would have been enough to allow him to realize his life isn’t over and that there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel. Not sure how one could really even gauge having not been in that position themselves. I can’t imagine it personally.
All the time. My old gentleman likes a cube in the palm when he delicately takes the bit. He came to me with that habit and I saw no reason to change it. It makes me smile that he nickers when I pick up his bridle.
Did you get to work with the guy who offered to eat your brain if you died to keep your memories alive? He was nice. Very thoughtful!
OMG NO! He sounds like a real charming guy!
He was not threatening, but very earnest. I was quite flattered!
Still, wow! I don’t even know how I would react to that. Just, wow.
Yes, there is definitely an interesting assortment of people in the local county jail, for sure. But never quite that interesting.
Well, that’s just cute.
