I agree, definitely a kernel of truth. And to be frank, I miss some of those trainwrecks, especially the ones where the OP cannot stop digging a hole. The extent of denial can be rather fascinating in its weirdness.
I feel certain she chose her words very, very carefully bordering on being untruthful. She certainly was poised as were all the other women, especially young Jordan.
If MB didn’t ride at the Olympics but was the alternate traveling member of the team, does that make him a team member or is the word “alternate” the defining word?
The reason I am asking is because I have not thought of the “alternate” as a team member until now but now after reading all the posts, I wonder if the alternate is a team member. The alternate would have to ride in the event of a lost shoe, colic, etc. or a rider becoming ill.
However, if the alternate did not ride and the team had placed then the alternate would be a team member but not a medalling member.
Either way, it’s quite an accomplishment.
You’re only a medalist if you win, come second, or finish third. In other words, receive a medal.
At Beijing Michael was a team member. He did the jog, he got a ring. The team was chosen just hours before the competition started, and it could be changed up until the first rider on the team went.
Not all alternates do that.
UPDATE ALERT
Oral arguments have been scheduled in the pending motions for November 4th at 11:30.
There are team medals and individual medals. So, individually, a person can medal and the team not or the team can medal and a team member can not medal.
In 2008, the team came in 4th so no medals but was then disqualified because Courtney King Dye’s horse tested positive for a drug. MB did not ride but he was an alternate and a traveling team member. In other words, he was either not a team member per se but an alternate. Or he was a team member whose status was alternate instead of a primary rider.
I always thought USET pays for the team’s travel so did MB travel on USET’s dime as a team member.
My point is I think we are all splitting hairs here. The difference of one shoe or a gas colic could have put him in the arena. He was an Olympic caliber rider at that time.
You’re welcome. I know you don’t need me or anyone else to defend you, but sometimes crap like what FD writes gets my blood boiling.
I have a cousin who was an alternate for an Olympic wrestling team. He, like MB, was not, and has never been, an Olympic Medalist.
Me too! The allegations and personal attacks are uncalled for but it comes with the territory of searching for and defending fact and truth.
Thanks again. It makes a difference.
Again, like I said, only if they come in first, second, or third are they a “medalist” as the lawyer keeps mistakenly stating.
Are oral arguments open to the public?
Edited: Rats! Just saw they are going to do it by Zoom.
Why does all this stuff always seem to be scheduled on Friday??
Because that’s Judge S’s motion day.
Ahhhh…thank you. So other judges have other days?
I guess zoom meetings aren’t broadcast.
You and are are mind melded today! I was just hoping the same thing!

Ahhhh…thank you. So other judges have other days?
Here, a lot of the judges do motions on Mondays.
