McDonalds, Wendy’s, and I bet almost everywhere else has free wifi. My nice grocery store has it too. I think the stores have it so you can find where they are hiding everything you need.
Thanksgiving (both US and Canada) are very important to us! We love celebrating the fall/early winter holidays, particularly now with all the strife in the world.
At least Canadian Thanksgiving is the middle of October, so it’s over with before Halloween.
I might try to put Christmas lights up this weekend, since it’s going to be warm out. I hate trying to do it with frozen fingers or gloves on. They definitely won’t be lit up until after Remembrance Day though.
Halloween Candy - anything chocolate, but esp. Reese’s and Almond Joys. Also love candy corn.
Candy/Beverage Pairings - Snickers with coffee is da bomb.
Christmas Music - I was raised in the church. so to me, hymns and traditional carols are my go-to’s to get into the Christmas spirit. I’m not a huge fan of “modern” Christmas music but do listen to some from time to time. I’ve built several lists of Christmas music on my Spotify account so I can listen to what I want to hear.
My mom adored Rolf Harris - and so did my sister and I as kids. I can still sing Six White Boomers and Jindabyne… and I loved Two Little Boys.
Little did we know…
Christmas songs? Mary Did You Know, Do You Hear What I Hear, Bing & Bowie’s Little Drummer Boy…
And…
The Seattle Men’s Chorus do a Christmas Concert every year. A tradition used to be Silent Night presented near the end of the performance. First sung with the little orchestra and the whole chorus - as they also signed the words in ASL. Then the instruments dropped out slowly as the song continued. Then the basses. Then baritones. Voices went silent one at a time - not as a group. Then tenors… then silence for the last verse and chorus as the entire chorus signed with white gloves on. The lighting had slowly gotten darker… and at the end, black light made those gloves and the words they were relating glow.
They no longer do that… but it has obviously stuck with me - forever.
