Thanks.
What do you think about “Mary Did You Know”?
It is scheduled for 11:30 but they always seem to run behind. I had some plans Friday morning that I rescheduled just so I can continuously refresh my computer waiting for court to go live!
Hate it.
I like it, particularly since it is relatively new and written by Mark Lowry, whom I enjoy.
Court scheduling is wonky. 11:30 is usually not an exact time. It’s normal to have multiple/many cases scheduled for the same time.
Heathen!
I will say, I like Christmas music of all stripes. I love the apparently bemoaned Mariah Carey song, like most other “modern” ones (except for Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree), and I cry every time I am at a service that does the Silent Night/Peace on Earth medley like my childhood church does in rounds. Have seen it elsewhere, and it’s so moving… especially if there is a good choir and a candle lighting involved.
That said, my favorite Christmas song (and this may be divisive), is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues. Not sure what that says about me…
ETA:
Mine too.
If you mean Fairytale of New York, I am forever your BFF.
My favorites from my twisted youth (12 Pains of Christmas & Essex Wonderland). Played them for our kids to, much to my husband’s dismay.
I do. Though, just about anything by the Pogues is my favorite Christmas song.
Wait!!! I just realized this is legit a lyric from Fairytale of New York (see below)! Kismet? I think so!
Lyrics in question:
“Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you”
You’re literally baiting me to become your unwanted NBF/stalker. Me too. Lol. Also, did you catch the weird lyrical kismet I just did???
I am not at all familiar with that song, but was that… a very young Matt Dillon playing the cop at the start of the video??
Kismet, indeed! Lol.
I think I knew a horse named Kismet a million years ago.
It was.
Yes ma’am! (Good eye!!!)
Sure looks like it’s Matt Dillon.
Dillon appeared in 1987 in the music video for “Fairytale of New York” by the Irish folk-punk band The Pogues, playing a cop who escorts lead singer Shane MacGowan into the “drunk tank”.
PS, the whole lament of that song and the sad, downtrodden nature of it… what always struck me was that passage I quoted above. This line makes me cry:
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you
It is, indeed, Matt Dillon.
