MB Civil Trial: JK/KK Contempt of Court?

Imagine that. The ability to self reflect.

Some people lack that ability.

Ain’t that the truth.

In some cases a near death experience or even a loss in one’s life, can change a person, or give them reason to reflect, or even appreciate things.

Apparently that does not always happen.

I am pretty sure all the legal filings are in the first post because the original poster has been so nicely going back and updating it as things are filed. They are worth reading!

Just checked again - no new filings since the four that were filed on 9/16.

Right? Or she is realistically going to pay $150.00 to have an associate email her the definition of privilege cut and pasted from westlaw?

It has to be a partner, darn it. Just an associate is not good enough.

Well, when that definition doesn’t match her definition, that poor associate will earn much more than $150 reading all of her illogical responses where she probably demands to speak to his supervisor. And then months later, when the associate has moved on, they’ll get another flurry of emails telling them how wrong they were again.

It’ll be a passthrough from the associate to the partner to her, so that’s even more! Then back to partner and passed again to associate who will email back to the partner who forwards to LK. Billed in what,10 minute increments?

6, actually

Lawyers bill in six minute increments? Wow. That is a weird number.

It makes it an easy 1/10th of an hour for each increment.

Yes, but five minutes is easier to see on the clock.

We had the choice of ten or fifteen. Ten for litigators, fifteen for probate and drafting contracts and such. Six is much better.

Edited to add that I no longer bill anyone! Yay general counsel!

6 is much better. 15 is disadvantageous for the client.

We don’t use clocks, we use software with timers. You assign a timer for each deal you’re working on. When you start work on Deal A you click the Deal A timer. Click it off if you get up and go to the restroom or lunch, whatever, or switch to a different deal (and then click that timer). You type in a narrative for each day for each timer. The software keeps track all month and spits out a report, easy peasy!

Oh my gosh, that is brilliant (the software you use @FitzE).

Oddly, the one we used was called ‘Carpe Diem’ and I thought, sitting here for 14 hours a day billing away while life passes us by seems the least carpe diem-y thing ever!!

How long do you suppose it would take to read (and digest) 38,000 NEW Social media posts on top of the ones from the criminal trial?

That alone would get quite costly.

I wonder why 48 Hours didn’t use these damning pieces of the story…

Did 48 Hours not ask for those because, or quickly realize after looking them over, they were illegal recorded, and not verifiable…

Did 48 Hours ask for them but get denied access…

Did 48 Hours ask for them, hear them, and recognize they were garbage…

Everything from the trial was fair-game for the show to use and when they approached Lauren’s side after the trial, they were - from what the people behind the show have said - only given the choice of limited interview access, if they didn’t include certain things from the trial and followed a narrow, approved line of questioning.
