MB Civil Trial: JK/KK Contempt of Court?

I just want to add that I had just finished being a juror on a 4 week federal trial just before this trial started. I can say that every juror picked up different things from the testimony and every one brought something important to the discussion during deliberations, including questioning some of the witness testimony.

In the case I was involved in the prosecution had done a VERY through job collecting evidence and the witnesses testimony was backed up by clear evidence when ever it was relevant. Because of this a heroin dealer was convicted on 11 out of 12 counts.

In this case the lack of evidence was a glaring hole and combined with the impeached witness testimony I can imagine there was a LOT of discussion in the jury room and I agree with others that the NGRI was a compromise with a couple of hold out jurors.

I imagine the next jury is going to have an interesting time too. Especially since they don’t need a unanimous decision.

Can you clarify, @ekat, that if the jury were following instructions perfectly, they would not “compromise” but instead would deliberate until there was until there was unanimity or until a hung jury was declared?

If some thought Guilty and others thought straight Not Guilty, I fail to see how a verdict of NGRI is justice. He could end up involuntarily committed for a long time.

Well, you know, if someone can find it in their heart to plan on forging signatures and crafting fraudulent documents (aka willing to commit a crime), I think they could find it in their heart to easily lie under oath as well

48 Hours framed it well: MB was torn between two women.

You’re funny, CH. I thought MB had a plot to kill LK? I mean, isn’t that why LK planted the recording devices? Didn’t she say multiple times she had proof of her planned murder via said recordings? She also threatened people online with said recordings that her family now refuses to turn over. Usually when a man is torn between two women, he doesn’t have a relationship with one and want to get rid of the other.

Why do you put so much effort into defending LK? Even with the poorest of arguments?

I don’t think MB had a plot to kill LK. I don’t think MHG meant it literally when she said “I’m going to effing kill her”.

If, in addition to the “I’m going to effing kill her” statements, MHG threatened to leave MB if he didn’t “get rid of” LK, I think it was MHG that stoked MBs desperation the most. Someone desperate, delusional, and with access to a gun is dangerous.

I am so glad this thread is open again. The court seems very slow in processing things that have passed the dates of things that should have been done. I don’t think they can blame covid anymore.

I have still not seen the 48 hours episode, it is maddening on the CBS site that I could see all the adverts for the episode, however it will not let me view the full episode in this Country. It still hasn’t been put on Youtube either.

I did read the transcript of the show and all I felt was disappointment. There was sooooo much missing. No night barefoot ninja, no outside the room shouting I will ruin you. No access to the safe, etc, etc, etc. I hope the civil trial has all that.

Basements are not really a thing in Australia. I have not ever seen a bathrobe. I have a big brown furry dressing gown that doesn’t have a hood. I can pretend I am a grizzly bear.

I do have a burgundy oodie which has a hood.
