MB Civil Trial: JK/KK Contempt of Court?

It is an entirely too possible of a scenario. I wouldn’t think it was possible, except it did happen to me, and a true “blue chip” firm did it too.

Most judges accept a Consent to Change Attorneys if both the outgoing and incoming attorneys sign. To withdraw as an attorney motions are filed. Most judges sign off but we had one vying for Supreme Court who would refuse those on some cases because it would lengthen the amount of time to the conclusion of the case and thus negatively affect her stats.

I agree for the most part, except that the outcome of the criminal trial was a landmark of sorts in the legal world. Not only is the insanity defense used in barely 1% of court cases, it has a success rate of only 25%. The odds were heavily in Schellhorn’s favor going into that trial - which just goes to prove how utterly despicable the State’s star witnesses were, and how brilliant Bilinkas and Deininger were in exposing them for what they were (are).

This I agree to :100:. Add to that EB just got a case successfully appealed on a well known Taylor case. Knowing judges as I do, I’m sure Taylor’s short hairs were in a twist.

That is an interesting read. Also a little sad. Thank you for posting it.

What? His insanity was NEVER proven to be caused by LK. She was not on trial. Why is that so hard for so many to understand. MB was on trial. LK and RG not on trial.

Have you not read the zillion SM comments who think that very thing happened? You think the jury miraculously felt otherwise?

LK’s behavior is about to be on trial, for sure. In the lawsuit she initiated.

Yes and he could have evicted her. We’ve been all through this. He shot her not the other way around. His injuries occurred when he was stopped from killing people.

I hope he gets the treatment he needs.

She should have left. He should not have shot her twice, causing her to flatline twice.

How do you know he needs treatment? Just asking.

It will certainly be interesting to see how that narrative changes as the civil suit progresses.

Oh my, are we going to go over the whole trial again?

Really, no thoughts on Lauren, Jonathan, and Kirby Kanarek having contempt charges against them?

I have not mailed out any reading glasses yet so is it that you just can not read those court filings to comment?

I’m reminded of how voraciously velcro holds on to lint.

Finally, acknowledgment of who is on trial when. Thank you so much.

Technically, only Jonathon and Kirby Kanarek are staring at big ole contempt charges so far.

Lauren Kanarek, through her attorney Bruce, is fighting a motion to compel her to get up to NJ to sit for a deposition in a lawsuit she created. If her past actions are any indicator of future actions, contempt could still happen.

Generally each party will have an attorney from different law firms. This is because it’s assumed any one lawyer in a firm knows about every other case in the form and has access to any of the firm’s files. There can be ways to keep them separate, but a smart litigant/witness will get a totally different law firm to represent them.

I mean, personally, I’m hoping her next moments on the stand are televised so we can see how she behaves when the pressure is really on because she IS on display.

In the criminal trial, well, she was kind of a mess, despite not really being under fire.

Thank you for correcting me, I do not want to be passing around incorrect information on this topic. There is enough of that here already.

No thoughts on Jonathan (a lawyer) and his wife Kirby Kanarek having contempt charges against them?

No thoughts on RG not having anything filed against him?

Well that is a point. Dr Schlessinger, the mental health expert for the prosecution, said he was faking it all. The jury agreed with Dr Simring and Dr Hassan, the mental health experts for the defense.

I think the jury got it right. I know. Quite the rarity here. Apparently most of y’all think he faked it too and now is found sane and will be waltzing out of there with champagne and parties like the scene in the movie Ragtime.

He shot someone twice. He had a breakdown. He hasn’t had access to treatment per se according to many posters here but just many evaluations for court and hearings.

I’m hoping none of it is televised. I was surprised they didn’t declare a mistrial in the criminal trial when Law and Crime kept cameras rolling when jurors names were being read and posters here were reveling in the information.

It’s like trying to get my terrier to let go of something she wants. I have seen her get dragged into other rooms whilst playing tug of war with a much bigger, stronger dog. H*** no, I am not letting go of this [insert object of the moment]. You will have to pry it from my cold, dead jaws.
