Michael Barisone Court Date?

Somebody hasn’t been getting any attention lately.

Wait – isn’t that exactly what you did? Stop beating that horse. It’s dead!

Here’s your reason: we wanted to see how long it would take moderators to archive this. It’s been 8 months. Still no archive. Do you honestly think we just stumbled on this last night? That is hilarious.

An article was in fact written by patch.com a month ago (or so) reporting the admissions hearing. Interesting that link wasn’t shared. We would rather zero threads on this topic be open. However, I’d say that the 12 page ruling spelling out that every statement by Barisone will be admitted into evidence is uh…. kinda a big deal. For obvious reasons.

Just as I believe moderators closing and/or archiving threads here, but allowing them to continue on other topic forums is gross & disingenuous. FYI- I saw your post first just now so I replied to you. I guess you drew the short straw. Bye now!

I’m confused. You’re mad the thread wasn’t archived so nobody could post on it, but also mad that nobody posted with an update that you feel was important.

If the thread is long dormant who cares if it’s archived or not? Nobody can see it unless they go searching for it, and the only one searching for it is you.

As to the update nobody posted about - maybe nobody is paying attention anymore. Maybe no one is interested. Maybe nobody noticed it happened. If you feel it’s relevant info that the posters here should know about, why not post it yourself?

It’s a lovely day. Go enjoy that beautiful covered arena and your ponies.

Yeah, that’s probably why I haven’t had the time to bother with this. That said, moderators stated several times that ALL Barisone threads had been archived. That was untrue. They even went as far to say that they needed to re-open some threads for the exact sole purpose of archiving them. That was untrue.

I got bored last night and decided to finally ask, (8 months later) why this thread was interestingly NOT archived. Don’t you dare assume my intentions or motivations. My reasoning has nothing to do with you, nothing to do with me (for the most part) and the only people starting drama are those who begin and end their day on this BB. And that’s fine; but, if that’s what you people choose to do, report the facts you don’t like also. That, or why bother discussing this case at all? (Don’t bother responding. It was rhetorical.)

As an aside, I’m becoming tired of your directions and (always incorrect) assumptions. You are no one in this and even (almost) all those on here who believe they are “important,” to this case, or know things others don’t, are wrong. So…… there’s that. Not including posts by IM and a handful of others of course. IIRC, those comments were accurate. If you disagree, I could not give less of a (bleep!)

How bout this: you don’t advise me. I don’t advise you. K? See ya!

Good grief, woman, no-one here believes they are important - no-one here is anything in this case except you. No-one was following, or commenting, or paying you any mind - and you couldn’t bear it. Everyone had gotten on with their lives. I know this is huge for you, you were the victim of a shooting, and of course you want everyone to know how this is going - but most folks have moved on, and if you hadn’t re-activated this thread, no-one would have known there were any updates. No-one was beginning or ending their day on this thread for EIGHT MONTHS, except you.

I care. I care when the mods say a thing in print, but weren’t honest. It doesn’t really matter why I care. Just that I do; and have very specific reasons as to why. Also, if you seriously believe no one is searching for Barisone updates, you are only lying to yourself. I don’t need to search them. I get the “updates,” first hand. And to this date, I have never opened a thread to report them. And, those that do, almost always get them wrong or conveniently forget to report critical results & rulings which pertain to this case. I mean, isn’t that why you’re here??? To learn about …… what’s the title of this thread again??? Yeah. That.

Oh. Sorry. I completely forgot you’re (g you’re) actually here to make up crazy scenarios and ignore what is essentially right in front of your face. Wasn’t there all this excitement about the Miranda/statements admissions hearing and the promise of EB to share such ruling when it was decided??? Where is that excitement now? Again, just curious. But not curious enough to hang out here all day. And FYI- I did my riding in the morning. But thanks for your concern.

Omg. Please get this through your head, once you pull it out of the sand. I do not need to “search,” for anything here. I get my info directly…… not through Coth. I’ve known about this thread since it began. I could’ve commented then. Didn’t. I have very personal reasons as to why i waited till now.

Further, you do realize this thread in content is in direct opposition to your claim that “everyone has moved on,” and “no one is discussing this,” right? This entire thread is a discussion about ways to continue this very conversation!!! Moving it to CE, moving it to OT etc…… but that’s not relevant to my reasons for calling this out last night. I feel certain the moderators will get it. And that’s really all you need to know……Actually, you need to know nothing.

Let’s clarify - nobody WAS discussing anything related to you until you bumped this thread back up. Nobody is discussing the case itself even now - what we are discussing is why you chose to bring this thread back to life and then criticize those of us you responded to you.

@Moderator_1 there is clearly nothing relevant to the case to be discussed, and no interest from anyone in discussing it so no reason for the thread to be open.

She’s clearly capable of using the message feature, why not privately message the moderator with a link to the thread asking for it to be archived? No need for the public ask and subsequent pot stirring.

Trial starts this month. He will be convicted, acquitted, or a mistrial. If convicted, he will be sentenced and time served may be credited. If acquitted, he will be out. If convicted, depending on sentence, he may be out sooner than later. If he is let out, then it better be that he was completely innocent and shot at no one because he has shown no remorse or responsibility for a member of this forum ending up in the ICU shot twice in the chest in any legal filings shared in the forum and by news media. If he hasn’t found out already, he he will find out the one for whom he left his wife moved on within a year to someone new. He will have had lots of time to think about having to split property with his ex-wife who owned half his business. He has shown anger at people in law enforcement in his legal filings. I hope if and when he is released, he is his better self, the man everyone speaks so well of. Just remember, if the all edged shooter truly snapped, RG may have saved several lives besides his own and LaLa’s.

During the trial, as accused, he will have rights and prejudicial information pertaining to who shot who will not be allowed. However, the person shot and the person shot at have no protections and their pasts, every public and secret thing, may be laid bare in a very public manner. Other parties may also have more exposed than desired.

I can’t imagine the stress all parties are under waiting on trial and verdict especially those who have to live with the scars and physical remainders of this for the rest of their lives.

A little compassion would be nice. Then, on the other hand, all the mean girl tackiness is kind of like preparing for court. LaLa keep it together. You are a queen. You are serene. You hear the question. You pause to consider your reply (no knee jerk reactions). You answer the question succinctly and honestly. No rabbit trails. I doubt you will hear anything in court you haven’t had to read on this forum and in ICU. Prayers for you and your family and everyone affected.

That the trial begins this month has been known for quite awhile now.

Why has the thread been re-opened? Has something new happened? If so, why is there no mention of it?

Because Lalalalala re-opened it. And then complained that it was open.

Re: bolded. After the last thread was closed, I looked up what was meant by “affirmative defense”. Pleading insanity or self defense are both affirmative defenses.

What I learned is that unlike standard defenses, with an affirmative defense, the accused is acknowledging (affirming?) that, in this case, they did in fact shoot the gun at the victims, but that they are not criminally responsible for attempted murder because they were criminally insane, or because they acted in self defense.

In an affirmative defense, the prosecutor does not have the burden of proof to prove Barisone shot the victims. Instead the defense has the burden of proof in establishing the circumstances of insanity and/or self defense.

I agreed with all of your post, except the part about “who shoot who”. Based on my understanding that Barisone has already pleaded the affirmative defenses of insanity and self defense, I think there is no uncertainty about who shot who at this point.

Well, in February, Ruth Cox got probation for her gun being left with MB, other than that, I think we’re all waiting for the trial. As far as the thread… nobody touched it for 8 months until LK came by and started in again.

Yes, something happened. Do you remember the threads on the admissibility of statements the defense lawyer was trying to get excluded? A judicial decision has been rendered on that admissibility hearing.

LK is asking why all those who keep claiming their participation in these threads is “We’re just interested in discussing a legal case,” have expressed no interest in the judge’s decision.

THIS. ^^^^

I saw this thread appear at the top of the dressage page (no, I did not search for anything to do with this topic and never have) as I was browsing and actually thought it was a new thread with some update. But no - it was a rant about how the thread was ignored and dropped out of sight and out of mind - only to be revived eight months later by said rant.

There is no rhyme or reason to that… or to the repeated claims of lies and “poorly hidden threads”. If no one posts - and has “moved on”, threads slowly drop out of sight. They only magically jump to the front page when they are posted on - in this case EIGHT MONTHS later. If it had not been revived it would simply have dropped further back and further down. It might have come up if someone had done a search for it in order to post but obviously no one had bothered to do so and nobody cared… and they were perhaps just waiting for the trial to start - you know, actual news.

It stands to reason that if a thread is simply locked down, one would have to UNLOCK it in order to change its status - as in, archive it. I know that was how it worked when I was a mod on a different forum… and there were no conspiracies involved.
