Michael Barisone/Lauren Kanarek Civil Suit

I would expect atleast 1 year until there is a trial. Just my personal thoughts on the matter.

LK has until the 30th of March to be deposed. The judge makes it clear that he won’t look kindly on any attempt by her to weasel out of the deposition.

Perhaps this is part of the reason for JK losing his cool and coming here. Being deposed is not going to be pleasant for LK.

How long is that process likely to take?

Don’t want to be deposed? Then don’t file a suit :woman_shrugging:t3:

I mean, no doubt that depositions can be stressful and unpleasant for a variety of reasons, but uh, it’s your lawsuit so…

SGF said in previous filings that they would take a few days. I have no idea how long Deininger expects to take.

I believe they take as long as they take. Depends on how many questions are asked, how long the deposee farts around. Basically how much information is wanted.

Yep. I’m sure it’s especially unpleasant when you have to remember all of your lies and try to get your story straight.

Oh look… a new avatar!

OOoooh… this judge isn’t playing.

That’s definitely a thing. There is a whole range of reactions people have. You can’t take the demeanor on the call to mean anything really. Having taken those calls for a couple years, the calmest most in control people can come unhinged, and the biggest flake in the world can turn into the calmest and most organized in the face of an emergency.

So if they’re going to be completed by March 30, that means they would need to get started before too much longer.

No wonder the Ks sound a bit frantic.

So, what will happen if/when LK decides to get rid of GAS and find yet another attorney at the 11th hour before her deposition? Will the judge back down and allow the next attorney to get up to speed or will he insist things go forward?

Just like leaving Hawthorne Hill the summer of 2019, it appears the Kanareks will be kicking and screaming resisting deposition.

What about the contempt of mom and dad?

The judge may forbid the attorney to withdraw. That happens.

A friend was once kicked in the face by a horse she was grooming (horse was kicking at a horsefly, friend wasn’t fast enough to dodge it). Her bottom jaw was split apart and upper and lower teeth knocked out or loose. She grabbed the two sides of her face with one hand to hold her face together and keep more teeth from falling out, put the mare back in her stall, and walked up to the house where she calmly told her husband - through blood gushing from her wounds - that she guessed she needed to go to the hospital. Hubby promptly fainted.

Did GAS previously ask for restrictions on what could be asked in the deposition? If so, would the judge rule on that separately?

That would be an interesting plot twist.

What was the term that GAS used to indicate that he was doing something more or less against his will? Would he keep using that same term, or would he need to find extensive synonyms for it?

I like that this judge is moving things along, but I hope this order doesn’t put more undue pressure on Mr. D and Mr. B since MB’s Krol hearing is March 8, and the deadline for additional discovery requests is March 9. Although I guess D is focusing on the civil part while B is focusing on the Krol part, it seems to be shaping up as a few busy weeks for them.

One of the reasons Lindy Chamberlain (sp?) was first convicted when a dingo took her baby, was because she did not show emotion at the time and I believe also not in Court, they said she was too calm.

Wouldn’t you think that if she was faking it, she would have faked emotion?

She has been let out now.

Yes, it probably does explain why they have been coming out of the box lately.

I must admit to feeling badly for sea lions for being so maligned as to have such distasteful behavior named after them, but I am delighted to learn there is a term for the psychological torture we have endured on these threads. And for that, I thank you. 🦭

I skipped the second page. Still, he appears to want this to actually move along at a reasonable pace.
