I agree. We cannot allow misinformation to stand alone and unchallenged where truth is so important.

I see that the State of NJ has suspended all civil and matrimonial matters in two vicinages - covering about 6 counties - as of Feb 21.
I expect that this will result in at least one party to one of those matters suing the governor for being unable to manage to appoint any judges. That should make for a good time with appellate hearings centering around court system delays impacting due process, especially after the impacts of covid.
I’d certainly like to read the briefs.
Oh, I would too. What an absolute nightmare.

Obviously he needed to provide psychiatric information to the court.
He didn’t need to agree to TV cameras.
You do realize that you’re tiresome, right? Do you also realize that his criminal trial is different from his Krol hearings? That his decision to defend himself may have compromised his privacy then but should not now? That the NJ laws around this that I have cited for you numerous times must exist for a reason? Surely you understand all of this
Could this be counter productive–if MB appeals to keep the Krol hearing closed, wont it delay the next Krol hearing until that is resolved (it seems like it already has delayed it)?(edited to add, ok, I see it was delayed the other day because of other reasons relating to getting material to everyone…)
Televising the trial was a smart move IMO. Same with the 48 hrs episode. MB was able to tell his story even though he did not testify.
Public opinion really skyrocketed in his favor after the trial and the tv show.

Yeah, Nancy Jaffer’s article says he’s appealing the September ruling. There’s no indication he’s appealing what happened this week.
How very strange to ignore the existence of actual laws and to argue with actual lawyers and legal professionals I can’t wrap my head around how that makes sense.

At least for me, it’s for the benefit of other people reading more than anything. You cannot convince those who are not open to being convinced. You can, however, post information that can be used by others to form their own opinions.
I agree. We cannot allow misinformation to stand alone and unchallenged where truth is so important.
Now that is funny.

Even after being told this countless times, apparently not.

Appeals can be a powerful motivator for some judges, many do not like being overturned.
Didn’t that already happen in a previous case that Mr. B had before Taylor? Which would seem like it could provide a reason why Taylor was already not too keen to see Mr. B in front of him again?
I just had to repost this amazing post by @minnie - now with 94 likes. It is still perfection.

I don’t normally participate in discussions anymore, but have kept this page open to check on updates to the court case. I check in and read a few posts to see if there are updates.
Felt the need to chime in with my perspective on assigning “responsibility” percentage.
For many years Michael was operating 2 farms with all the responsibilities of mortgage payments, insurance, maintenance, utility bills, feed bills, farrier, vet bills, employees, working students, lessons, training clinics, preparing clients and horses for competition, scheduling, etc. That’s an absolute ton of responsibility and pressure and he’s juggling a lot of balls and handling it just fine, with probable periods of cash flow and time limitations occasionally causing a little angst, but not enough to derail him.
Then along comes Lauren and weeks (months?) of attacking him online, trying to sully his reputation, threats and her own admission she intended to ruin him. With a business so heavily dependent on reputation, and all his responsibilities to his family, his employees and all that he’s responsible, it’s absolutely understandable he wasn’t eating well, sleeping well and had increasing anxiety and panic. Complaints to safesport possibly initiating an investigation, possibly putting him out of business (and everyone who depended on him) would be enough to send a lot of people over the edge and having CPS show up on his doorstep made him snap. The proberbial “straw that broke the camel’s back”.
I find Lauren and Rob’s description to be totally implausible. I think it far more likely that he was attacked in some way before the shooting. Why was his phone sitting on the table? Why were Lauren and Rob’s phones sitting where they were not even close to them?
This whole situation is tragic for everyone involved and everyone associated with them. And it was so senseless, except for the fact that Lauren delighted in tormenting and attacking people and had gotten away with it for so many years and with so many people that it didn’t occur to her that someone might just attack her back. I’m sorry she was shot. Frankly, I’m more sorry for Michael than her, but sorry just the same.
If Lauren had just accepted the fact the barn and Michael were no longer a good fit and the situation was deteriorating rapidly and left, none of this would have happened. But she wanted to “destroy him”. A reasonable person would have left. She had places for her horses to go. None of her excuses for not leaving were plausible. She just wanted to destroy him so she refused to leave. And look how much damage she caused to so many people because of her actions.
Since her actions were the reason Michael snapped and the only thing HE did wrong was during those minutes he was legally “insane and not responsible”, it’s all Lauren’s fault. And if I were on a jury and heard the whole sordid story that is what I would find.
As for Seeker1, I totally understand the anguish you have gone through and continue to go through. But as much as you love her you must be able to see her culpability in all this. And the family’s for enabling her.
And I think I read somewhere, don’t know if it’s true or not, that Lauren was not allowed in her parents home? And she didn’t go to her parents when she got out of the hospital? I haven’t followed the whole thing that closely in the intervening months so I’m not sure of these facts. But, if true, that seems to be kind of a disconnect. I’m truly sad for all involved and I’m also sad that Lauren hasn’t appeared to have an epiphany to change her behavior and hasn’t shown an iota of remorse for setting this train in motion.

That will be interesting. There is a lot of political activity regarding lack of due process, long incarcerations, and Covid and and other factors affecting health, especially deaths in jail, plus a lot of political activity about people let out of jail or out on bond to lessen crowding then committing crime.
So, through no fault of Judge Taylor on two issues then, court availability and a Krol hearing in open court though the first may influence MB’s appeal. I can see why the response to the complaints was that no problem was found.

But as they believe this particular board consists of people in the horse world its possible they see the tide/opinions here as important for LKs future.
If so, it certainly does not seem as if they are helping her case at all, based on their interactions with the people here.
Also, what future??
If LK is not suspended or banned by safe sport/USEF for her egregious behavior towards others, not to mention deliberately weaponizing safe sport against MB and MHG, there is nothing preventing her from showing in the future. Just like any other adult amateur who wants to show.
lol, The Ks and their sycophants don’t do themselves any favors by their posts here.

That appeal was by a public defender, not Bilinkas, over an error on the judge’s instruction, and the person then accepted a plea deal for 20 years instead of 30 years instead of a retrial. It was on 48 hours as well.

Taylor is federally liable for violating HIPAA if he doesn’t follow the law regarding it. That can be hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, and can go on his permanent record as a Judge.
This judge was almost immediately referred for discipline.

Even 48 Hours could not make her look the way I am sure she intended to look… as a kind of beautiful, horse-whispery, wide-eyed equestrian ingenue who had tragedy thrust upon her completely out of the blue in an inexplicable and unfathomable way by the forces of evil.
After just watching the 48 Hours episode again recently, I was also struck by the fact that those were not actually her horses or her barn, according to later accounts. So the part where she was trying to act as if she had some huge connection with those horses was even more laughable.

I have not denigrated the legal professionals unless you consider daring to disagree with them as “denigrating them”.
I don’t equate disagreeing with someone with “denigrating” someone.
It’s a discussion board. People disagree.
I responded on the issue of the Krol rules that you posted.
In fairness, it was @hut-ho78 who denigrated the legal professionals

Pick a story and stick to it.
That would be good advice for multiple people involved in this whole case.
