Michael Barisone

My only gripe would be that given the limited number of rides/people many shows are allowing right now, to cancel 3 our of your 4 when the show had to turn others away is just kind of rude. Obviously the show got paid, but with the current arrival/departure/separation plans it’s almost impossible for someone else to take that spot.

I don’t know if this show was oversubscribed, but I think we may have to start looking at this tactic in a different light in the new situation.

I never said I cared, nor did I give an opinion on it one way or the other. I just stated a fact that she has a history of scratching.

@soloudinhere I was going to ask the same question. If entries are limited, if people habitually sign up and scratch that seems to be a problem. Understandable in many individual conditions (heat, health of horse/rider on the day, etc.) but if, as other posters say, this is a typical way to show it might be one more of those barriers to people joining that are often discussed here. If a smaller number of competitors routinely book multiple spots and scratch multiple spots, that obviously reduces the ability for a greater number of riders to participate.

I also never had the money to compete widely. I had to save up for entry fees, hauling, etc. So I also never had the experience of scratching for other than a compelling health reason. As @trubandloki said, it’s so different from my experience I would never have guessed it’s so common.

If, in fact, dressage shows are routinely under-subscribed, it makes more sense. The show makes money and people ride or scratch for whatever reason with no downside at all.

Is it the same braider who is a regular contributor to these threads?

It IS common for riders with late ride times on the last day of the show to scratch and head on home, particularly if they have had a good show. I mentioned LK scratching because it was she who mentioned frequently that she rode 4 or more horses a day while in FL with few days off. My comments were just that, comments.

As far as knowing what she does…this woman is widely known in NC and the grapevine travels at warp speed concerning her actions in this state. One does not have to personally know her to hear what she is up to. Her reputation here precedes her experience with Barisone.

Is this true? How weird and toxic that support people get dumped on all the time here. I always did my own braiding so maybe I don’t know the nuances involved, but what an awful culture if it’s typical to trash braiders.

In @eggbutt’s defense, I believe she is only noting this person is a braider but the real issue this person is someone who is trying/has been trying to serve LK with papers and LK refuses to open the door to process servers/Sheriffs, whatever. I think that’s what makes that bit of info interesting, not that LK is trashing a braider.

Doesn’t explain your need to carry on that rumor mill onto coth any chance you get.

does it really matter what the content is though if she literally just admitted its a rumor? Rumors aren’t allowed on Coth FYI, especially when it involves naming people. This is just highschool garbage gossip trying to be spread to make LK look as bad as possible, but if you have to use rumors and hearsay to get the point across it says a lot about the poster.

This is all just story telling unless we have the actual party posting here who is not able to deliver papers.

And yes, braiders get bashed, as do grooms, owners, boarders, etc etc. It is something that exists on CoTH, but it is not to say the bashing on these threads isn’t warranted, sometimes, it is!

I think the answer to this question falls squarely into - we all have something that we find interesting that we want to talk about. You have yours. Eggbutt has theirs, etc.

I personally have not noticed any quantity of braider bashing threads here.

So in your eyes is it ok to come here and spread rumors about people simply because you don’t like them because the person finds it interesting?

But you know…“Eggbutts will be eggbutts”. Do better.

I’m super into drawing attention to people actively undermining safe sport and/or supporting sexual predators, particularly those who target minors.

(I have also discussed the braider mafia here a time or two though  but this isnt that)

But, for example, on the “GM was on the grounds at an event” thread, wasn’t that “rumor” in the sense that everyone was talking about it even if they hadn’t witnessed it first hand themselves? But it was true and everyone at the show was talking about it and it made it here not from first-hand account. Same with people talking about mistreatment of horses at shows. So eggbutt’s post seems in keeping with lots of posts on this forum that discuss the goings on at various shows but not necessarily in the first person account way.

The braider mafia sounds like a good mini-series!

Nope there was a first hand account of GM at the show. Cant remember which user was volunteering, she spoke to stewards while her husband called USEF.

So bashing ok…rumors no?!

Since it was public information that LK would be at the show, why didn’t the braider serve the papers there? In the other thread, wasn’t the outcome that papers could be served by mail, with appropriate certified mail or whatever?

I frankly don’t believe this accusation of Eggbutt’s that LK has been dodging process servers for years.

I did forget that bit, thanks. I guess it’s my general impression that people discuss all sorts of behaviour at events and clinics of which they do not have first had knowledge so it seemed unusual to object to it here so strenuously.

But upthread you mentioned the braider might be someone who posts here, so perhaps that is the first hand info given to eggbutt? Who knows. Maybe that poster will join this thread.

It wouldn’t surprise me.

My general feeling though is that Lauren is a nobody, and it seems very strange to me that people are using this forum to attack over and over and over and over again nobodies. And then when the nobody defends themselves they use this as evidence that they deserve to be attacked over and over and over again.

George Morris was a self described star of the us horse show scene for six decades. He has openly and publicly made himself a notable figure. He has also done some high profile terrible things, these are regularly the subject of conversation, because of his profile within the community.

Lauren Kanerak is a low level rider, who trains with a middling professional, who shot her because shes annoying. And she has annoyed ten people. Not tortured the hundreds that george morris has tortured. Hell, shes not even the wacko witch getting banned from major horse shows.

And yet basically three people who really dont like her use this forum to drag her at every opportunity. This nobody. Because they think shes a spoiled brat.

I can imagine that most of us have two or three people who dont like us at all, and that if they were using this kind of forum and being egged on over and over and over again, it just normalized incredibly nasty mean very very very public behaviour for the sole and entire purpose of torturing this one nobody, and frankly excusing the man who literally tried to kill her. And almost did kill her.

It’s awful. It’s incomprehensible.

Sundays at multi-day shows certainly tell a different story.
