Monica Thors
He needs to stay off of FB and do his damn job if you ask me. Every day those horses remain in her care is one more day he is responsible for their abuse.
Every day horses are slaughtered for meat.

But, that’s ok with you.

Would you like to you and your family to receive death threats like Thor’s has??

Bunch of freakin’ goofs.

Actually I have worked both in the trenches so to speak and legislatively for almost three decades to both stop horse slaughter and export for slaughter in the US so you couldn’t be more wrong. Wring your hands.

Really Rob?

Personally, I am not against horses for slaughter meat. Though I do have BIG issues that it be done HUMANELY.

But even 3 days from the time they leave to the time they are not so nicely butchered at the slaughter house, is sure one heck of a literal god send compared to the egregious on going months & years of being in Monica Thors torturing & killer hands!

I would much rather a horse be sent to slaughter than endure this torture. It is at least a quicker death if that is the only positive thing. In fact, I’d much rather the horse I just outbid the killer buyer for two weeks ago be sent to slaughter than slowly starve to death in a field with a broken pelvis.

Oh god don’t bring THAT into this. Her family doesn’t deserve threats, but I really don’t see this as anything close to slaughter.

Anyway, peeps, for those trying to help…Thank You!

(BTW, the ‘helmut’ thing, c’mon now. That’s really nit-picky)

Good day! Hope there’s a resolution very, very soon.

I can imagine Monica Thors possibly is receiving death threats at this late date. I do not know that that her family is receiving death threats. I certainly have not heard of either happening. Other than here out of LaserRob’s mouth. But if her family is, then perhaps they will finally get off their behinds & intervene!

If she is not a US citizen, can we please legally make her persona non grata & send her back to Sweden? Let them (Sweden) pay for her, psych care (too). Do we need to start contacting the State Department also, in order to get Monica Thors far, far away from any animal in America ever again?!

Your kidding right?
Don’t turn this thing into she is a victim case.
Unless everyone one is lying, she is a serious abuser.
What can you expect when people see the horrors she is committing. and getting away with it, all under the guise of a “Rescue”

Pictures don’t lie.

There are a whole lot of people saying things like “saw her feet off and see how she likes it” or “I want to smack that smile off her face”. Now, I understand how many people feel this way. But really, there is right and there is wrong. Threatening her with harm is wrong.

I agree with this, besides if she is a Swede, she has access to government funded health services in her country that go well beyond being a “ward of the state” in the US. She is definitely mentally unwell and needs help as her trimming, bathing, and filing behaviors have gone well beyond interfering with normal life into consuming her life.

Taking the horses and cats away from her and telling her she cannot have another animal will only protect animals from her behavior and not FIX the problem. She needs long-term treatment.

I think at this point communicating with Social Services would be a good idea to get THEM involved in creating a plan to remove the animals and get her into treatment (if she does actually have her citizenship).

She’s not filing these horses hooves until they bleed because she wants to hurt them, she’s doing it because she believes she is helping them or because she cannot stop herself. She may, in sound mind, be horrified with what she has done, but at this very moment she cannot fathom that her actions are anything but beneficial.

And you know this for a fact? We have NO idea what her motivations are.
She is defensive and sues people that try to evict her. Go read her facebook page.

I haven’t been on the Alex Brown forum in years but the Fans of Barbaro might be just nutty enough to get something done. If someone braver than I wants to venture over there and make sure they are aware it is worth a try.

There’s a few diehards there…waiting for Barbaro’s resurrection.

Don’t care what mental ailments this woman might have - she is not the immediate concern - getting her away from those animals is. I am awestruck this tragedy has continued for this long.

I just laughed so hard at this.

I saw these pics a few days ago and I have been sick/shocked/disgusted since then. My first thought was she needs help. She is sick and needs professional care as no one in their right mind can do this to an animal.

The F-ing helmet just drives me nuts. The stupid hats/bunny ears on horses who are crippled makes me sick. Those dumb hearts as she is trimming the poor animals feet to nubs. Just sick.

The helmet is just another symptom of unusual behavior that did make me think “sickness” vs. “jerk” though I could be wrong of course. As are the hearts and other photos. It couled still be MBP, but via the internet. I know a few people that I think are borderline there. They crave the attention that a crisis gets them and it’s not hard for me to see that they could cross that line.

It’s clear in a bunch of photos that the cats’ whiskers are completely trimmed off; there are occasionally stubs visible. Why would you do that to them???
This is almost like a really weird manifestation of something like OCD/compulsive skin picking. I have this, so I know a bit about it, but basically, “rough” or “excess” edges or bits of skin/nails/hair are just enfuriating, to the point that you will get really extreme about the act of ridding yourself of perceived edges/flaws.

The obsessive hoof trimming, mane/forelock cutting, messing with cat whiskers, it’s like the same exact thing except turned outward at others instead of inwards at herself.

I couldn’t stand to look at the pictures past the first one I saw… just awful. I hope the horses are out of her hands and she gets serious help ASAP.

As a mental health counselor, I’m going to advocate that we not guess at a mental health diagnosis. It can be shameful to many to have a diagnosis and very hurtful to the recipient if she does not have one. Until she sits in our office and we have a DSM 5, a Master’s degree in counseling/social work/psychology, and a number of ways to assess, let’s not throw diagnoses out there.

True, and probably shouldn’t have done that.

That said I do think it’s pretty clear something is going on, and I’m uncomfortable with people calling for pitchforks and torches and such.

Sounds like the power of public opinion may have forced some action.
