They show a picture of 2 clydes. http://nj1015.com/horse-abuse-charge...ckback=tsmclip

At least they something.
A horse is a horse to most people! I hope they don’t use that pic when they do file charges however as they are obviously very well cared for.

Please watch CBS channel 3 news tonight @ 11 pm click the link for live feed at 11pm & We will also Post video when it is online. Thx

Note that the Dept of Ag doesn’t have direct jurisdiction with regard to seizure. I targeted them today because the head of the NJSPCA said over the weekend that SPCA would have seized the horses already but the Dept of Ag didn’t agree. (Yokum said this on their FB page when he was answering comments. Wish I had taken a screen shot because they’ve scrubbed the page today, removing those comments). At any rate, my goal was to turn the heat on the DoA and make sure they know that SPCA is blaming them. Yokum’s claim is probably not true and will piss them off, and maybe they put more pressure on SPCA as a result.

The AG Dept. has NO say regarding charges, seizures or anything else to do with a criminal case.

Same here in KY. And local authorities LOVE to blame the AG Dept. even though we all know it’s an outright lie every time.

Thrilled to see that the pressure from COTH and others are getting the ball rolling.

THANK GOD~ I knew the Standardbred people would not let this continue!!
Well, they sure had zero problem with letting it continue until just today. Her FB page is full of photos of her with StdBred people smiling in her barn and holding horses. And she’s been releasing all kinds of Standardbred videos on YouTube and no one’s ever spoken out.

Yocum’s claim and blame on the NJ DoA is completely bogus, and he said the same thing to me when I asked why action hadn’t been taken after a year and a half. Here are some excerpts from one of the many news articles about this:

"Following such allegations of abuse, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture investigated and sent inspectors to the barn in June of 2013. A department spokesperson says inspectors found the conditions inside the barn met the department’s definition of a “severe violation.”

The Department of Agriculture says investigators handed their report over to NJSPCA (New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), which has the enforcement authority. A NJSPCA spokesperson says the agency was made aware of situation in August of 2013.

NJSPCA would not talk on camera about why it has taken a year and a half to act on the Department of Agriculture’s findings but in a statement said the case is “difficult and complex” and they are working to conclude it “as quick as possible.” "

Plenty of people have spoken out. She has no license so there isn’t much they can do but made their voice heard just like we have.

If you read the NJ SPCA FB page they have plans in the future to only adopt out dogs and cats that have been spayed and neutered. Apparently the wheels of change turn slowly in NJ.

Monica thanks all of you.

Live video is on now. Awaiting what I am guessing is supposed to be a report on Monica Thors?

CBS failed to give news report. That is time from my life I will never get back.

laserrob, In the big Venn Diagram of Life, people who have little in common may occasionally find themselves standing together in the same sliver of a circle. That doesn’t make them the same. That Monica Thors applauded public outcry as a means to draw attention to a problem does not invalidate any other cause that is ever brought to public attention.
What passes as discourse in just about any website’s Comments section is enough to make one cry–the world is full of “goofs” as you call them, who say dumb things, who don’t know what they’re talking about, etc. But you and most of the world are intelligent enough to read a series of posts and decide if the person is credible and worthy of attention, vs. “OMG I had a puppy once and I am sooooo sad about these horsies.”

When the “say nothing” strategy isn’t working, what’s the alternative? Sometimes it’s worth it to say something–even if it carries a risk of standing in a sliver of a venn diagram with some goofs for a limited period of time.

Gov Christie – (609)-292-6000 just a generic office number-- I don’t have any illusion that the woman I talked to can actually do anything. Just hoping they logged my call, so there’s a record of citizen interest. I also sent an email to his office via http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/
Thanks. I wanted to bump this up.

So from what I can figure out, the NJSPCA is a non-profit. The top rank is the Col. Frank Rizzo, Superintendent of the NJ SPCA Law Enforcement Division.

Col. Rizzo and the other law enforcement officers (who are hired by the NJSPCA) are commissioned by the Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, Col. Rick Fuentes.

This is the contact page for the New Jersey State Police:
http://www.njsp.org/feedback.html
The general phone number is 609-882-2000. I just took that from the website, so I don’t know who will answer

Hungarian Hippo’s contacts numbers might be better, but you know, squeaky wheel

Govenor Christie #: I stated that I would like my call to be logged, & was then transferred. The next woman (too) was very polite, heard my concern & stated she would note my call.

Let’s keep the ground swell of calls growing!

The Dept of AG #. From my conversation there, I am nearly floored. I was very polite, even told them I am sorry that person was the one that has to take what must be a lot of concerned calls. BUT from what she personally stated to me, that my opinion of the (New Jersey) Dept Of AG has immensely declined.

Looks like our hard work is paying off. Mr Donato.( From nj spca. )is currently on the property with permission and so is dept of ag dr reist. Lets hope they finally take action today.
Good luck nj spca!

But can Mr Donato do anything? Does he legal authority to seize animals, make criminal charges?

Fingers crossed for the very best outcome for all the animals.

Horses are in the process of being removed (just 2 left to go
), according to the Stop Monica Thors FB page.

“only 2 horses left, should be aspiration and prince who will very likely be euthanized. the goat also left with the horses that could walk”

https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/STOP-Monica-THORS/768359786544510?fref=nf

Thank goodness but am so angry it took all of this to get it done.

Please tell me they are taking the cats and any other living creatures as well. My fear is that without the horses, she will step up her torture of her other animals

Thank goodness the “officials” are finally doing something!

I have to say - this social media pressure really does work sometimes. We had (have) a case locally where horses were being neglected for YEARS and Animal Control refused to do anything about it (horses were “fine”) according to them.

It wasn’t until the situation went viral on Facebook did any action take place. The endless calls and emails got the ball rolling. The in person protest at Animal Control headquarters (and the news coverage) made it so that the horses could not be ignored any longer.

Like this case - it had been festering for YEARS. But once it got on FaceBook, and the outrage spread - suddenly the owner was charged, and the horses were seized. Seems much the same here.

Please don’t forget the cats!
