Monica Thors

I’ll try again https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151860732339998&set=pb.603744997.-2207520000.1417650679.&type=3&theater

Yes. But I’m still not sure of exactly what I’m seeing. Guess I’m fortunate to have never seen anything remotely like that on a living horse. It does look a whole lot like one of these cadaver feet.

Laurierace and others–the minute I opened this thread I shot an email off to someone I know at The United States Trotting Association about the stuation. Person told me that the USTA would make funds available for the STBs once the horses have been seized through their SOS (Support Our Standardbreds) Program. Next thing I know the NJOBA issued a statement and voila! Maybe that would be a place to donate to. Information can be found on the USTA website on the tan line where it says “Life After Racing”–click on that.

If the funding for care, a place to keep them and veterinary interaction was the only thing holding up the seizure why wait for over a year to mention it? It was only seven horses, at the most–it’s not seventy horses, for heaven’s sake!

I just cannot imagine what those horses’ caretakers are going through right now!

This has got to be the most read, least understood thread in recent history. I’m over sixty years old and I’m still trying to wrap my head around this situation.

We’d better start looking at mental health support in this country soon, or it’s going to be a big part of our eventual downfall… :frowning:

^ Cherry, you nailed it!!

News report here:

Interview with Monica Thors and some video of the “sound” horses in the round pen. Including one that’s cantering like a walker because it’s so sore :frowning:

Sounds like the two are being euthanised.

She’s still blaming the glue? Dear God. I have searched and searched and I’m unable to find a single person who has experienced what she did with glue on shoes. I have to wonder why she didn’t retain counsel when it became apparent that glue was killing her horses and sue the glue manufacturer.

If it was true.
Have any of you actually gone to HER facebook page.
It is bizarre totally bizarre.
I thought it was her own FB page that pushed this along. Her FB page was where people got the photos of her grinning holding bloody hooves and all the photos of the hopeless-looking horses and cats, and it was when people began posting to her FB page to stop the abuse she started posting videos of her “working” her horses.

I would find it very hard to believe that first of all; no one in her past hasn’t recognized she needed help and secondly that maybe she has been seen by a professional or two and the decided she didn’t need help or didn’t need it anymore.
I read somewhere that the horses went to Dr. Riddle in Maryland but that may not be correct.
I’m sure that over the years she’s seen a farrier work with a dremmel tool before, maybe on a resection for white line disease or whatever but those tools give off a lot of heat if your not careful and you can instantly go wrong because of high speeds. But hell, what possible good does it do to slice away at the frog and the sole to the quick when you’e essentially whittled the wall away from top to bottom??? And that reminds me … is Laserbob a farrier?

The only obsessive–compulsive disorder I see are those continuing to look for instances/patterns of abuse.

Look…NO POOP…ABUSE!!

I see an ILLEGAL…LEADS TO ABUSE!!

Protective helmets…LOOSE SCREW ABUSE!!

The recent activity here shows the realization there potentially was no abuse…and it scares the crap out of you people. We gotta find some!

Go elsewhere peeps, there’s plenty of topics at COTH to squawk about.

If there is no abuse…set the horses loose.

Loose horses need feet. [edit]

LOL!!

I wonder if anyone remembers my online farrier course from years ago.

Disgusting that someone would decide to troll on this thread after seeing the horrific videos of those horses.

Admin, this thread is done.

Lock it up.

TY.

this is the update from HRU http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/video/10913748-i-team-exclusive-nj-woman-faces-animal-abuse-charges-and-humane-officials-have-taken-all-of-her-horses/ she states 2011; she foundered them in at least 2010 if not earlier

How many of her horses have foundered? What’s the story with that?

5? Three have died, two were bad off that were removed today and it sounds like (from the news report) that they are being euthanised.

The thing that horrified me was a close up picture of a hoof that was so small the horse had been walking on the bulb of the heels. and the frog was so pronounced because there was no hoof wall.
The reason they could not support themselves, besides pain correct me if I am wrong, is because the hoof circumference was so small?
I don;t know, watching that interview, made me sick. I made a mistake, with the glue? I know people who have had glue on shoes, never heard of such a thing. she maimed these horses pure and simple. I pray to god she does not get them back, but people… we know the system, I bet she does.

It is hard to tell for sure but it sounds like two of the five are likely to need euthed as well unless they are the two that were left behind initially and are being counted twice in some reports.

The video of that horse cantering, God.

I second that!
