If you watch the easter video, some of the same players are in that video as well. She must have some type of power over them, as I find it hard to believe that full grown men are happily bouncing around in bunny ears…they even have that “I am so embarrassed look” fake smile on their faces. If she had that much persuasion over them, then I highly doubt if they did notice that things were odd, they felt empowered to call her out on it. I think they are scared of her…
That makes sense. Plus, others mentioned that they may possibly be in the country illegally so would definitley not complain .

I think she had been receiving in excess of $100,000 (nope, I didn’t accidentally add an extra zero) per MONTH from a supporter overseas. As such, she was probably paying the hired help big bucks in comparison to what they’d earn at any other barn, so they went along with her stupid, silly whims. I also doubt many (if any) were knowledgeable about horses, so she probably just told them all kinds of stories about the “rehab” she was doing on those hooves, along with grossly overfeeding them with huge tubs of sweet feed (from what I read).

And, yes, if any of those workers were illegals (which wouldn’t surprise me), that would tend to keep their mouths shut.

The writers of Criminal Minds should be made aware of this story. I can’t stop thinking about this…so bizarre, sad and incredibly disturbing…

Wow, almost 8,000 views of each round pen video on her Facebook profile. Hopefully the cats get help soon.

The sad thing is from her website, it looks like the Hoyle horse was a winning racehorse for her. And the pics from 2010 are totally fine. Obviously slow slippage into insanity. I feel soooo bad for that bay horse! In 2010 he’s pictured running in paddock and in 2014 he’s completely and horribly crippled by this whacko. I understand that she probably doesn’t understand what she did, but that does not excuse the behavior. It makes my heart sick for those horses. Glad they got them out. Why didn’t anyone speak up before this escalated this far?? Where is her son!?

For the record, for at least a year and a half the official Standardbred organizations were pushing for those horses to be moved from Monica’s possession. Monica was denied stalls at tracks and thrown off of a training center for her behavior.

Monica is deeply emotionally ill, she had “handlers” up until about 3 years ago and that is when we started to hear the rumors that there was something up over there. I know for a fact several STB people were screaming bloody murder for 2 years over her treatment of her horses.

Monica feeds her horses 50 lb bags of free choice sweet feed a day and with zero exercise. So when the horses do eventually founder, she dremels their feet to nubs.

She shaves her cats whiskers, trims their nails to nubs, and she shaves their feet daily (to stop litter tracking). She had OCD when I first met her, she has what appears Munchhausen Syndrome.

The anger needs to be directed at the NJSPCA who never investigated until it was too late. August of 2013 the USDA and STB Racing groups went to the NJSPCA with videos, pictures, and other documents of Monica’s abuse. They were told thank you and for the next year and a bit, all the SPCA would say is “it is under investigation”. The SPCA is the only body with the ability to have legal authority so let’s stay focused on who failed those horses, Monica for her abuse and the SPCA for not moving until it went viral.

Her workers are all Latino and from my sources, not here legally. They don’t give two cr*aps about the horses just that they are making a lot of money working for a crazy lady. They disappeared and not sure where they are.

Good to hear that community has been vocal and blowing the whistle for a while. Concerning to hear that the NJSPCA has been hearing from them for so long. Somehow they need to be investigated. I’m not sure how or by whom. But it needs to happen.

What do you mean by she had “handlers?” I do not understand what you mean.

This too shall pass; I think what she means is “helpers” or employees. Not once did I ever see one of those standardbreds without a chain on unless it was laying down. Even the goat was dragged along with one. It wasn’t used to keep “manners|” but to force them keep moving or defending themselves I’m sure.
Many of the side bars of her photos gives the names of those people that worked for her. But any reasonable human being even with mouths to feed can find a wage elsewhere and I’m thinking when the funds for her nightmare ran out that’s when they probably left.
Anyone in her pictures is almost always named including a photographer who assisted with “I Am, A Harness Racing Horse” (didn’t anybody point out to her the punctuation??) or filming her “Feline Division” documentaries.

laserRob, you haven’t exactly been a ray of sunshine in this thread.

You have more or less acted like an attention whore, said I know something you don’t know, then shared very little enlightening information.

If you have any sort of friendship with Monica, you have done her a disservice with your presence here. While virtually all of care about the well being of those horses, MOST of us do also care about the well being of our fellow man, especially if there has been some sort or traumatic episode that led her down this path. Many have wondered if something specific had occurred or if this was a longtime concern that has now spiraled out of control. I certainly do not expect you to share her dark secrets, but you did her no favors here.

Go back under your bridge, troll.

Lazer Rob is on my ignore list - so I only see what is quoted - but really people, [edit]!! Its quite clear he does not know Monica, doesn’t have any “insider information” - he is just stirring the pot!

I am anxious to hear how this case pans out. Like I said earlier, I am concerned the prosecution won’t get qualified horse experts to work on the case.

In my experience local animal control agencies are CLUE LESS when it comes to horses, and have no idea how to identify abuse etc.

Stick around…you may learn something:

I will treasure Jim Salter and know I am very lost without him. While I tried reaching him to return his call last week, I regretted I was unable to talk to him last week when he called. I will live with that regret for the rest of my life.

Why did I write this tribute? I wanted Jim’s family and the harness racing industry to know how much Jim really meant to harness racing and us. I am blessed to have his memory in my heart and know he lives on in the harness racing documentary film ‘I Am, A Harness Racing Horse’.’ I used to drive Jim crazy with the fact it has to be called harness racing documentary film ‘I Am, A Harness Racing Horse’ not just documentary film. Those moments of us discussing certain ways of writing, is in my being and soul and leaves me with a smile on my face because we used to laugh after we were done arguing.

“I Am, A Harness Racing Horse” (didn’t anybody point out to her the punctuation??)
It drives me nuts, too! Is there a lot of extra punctuation in Swedish or is she just really terrible with grammar in general?

I wish that someone would update with something about the cats. I’m worried if no one is looking into their welfare in all of this.

I thought the Mod’s told the grammar police to pipe down eons ago?

I don’t think the mods had questioning odd documentary titles in mind when they told the grammar police to pipe down.
