I think that you are making them sound much more professional with that paraphrasing.

Yes he posts a long statement which basically said ā€œyou all have no idea how this works so please stop annoying us because we have calendars to sellā€. Guess he didnā€™t like the fact that this has gone international but he has no one to blame but himself.

Gems like this rub me the wrong way:

NJ SPCA Jenna Meyer Great so now I am quoted as saying when a horse dies I will do something ??? That is an absolute lie and is not true. Where does this crap come from. My post was made to try and get REAL offers of assistance from horse people by having them contact our website which six (6) caring real horse people have done and yet this kind of crap post is still leading the posts, truly disgusting and unbelievable. Please stop posting statements like this as I never said that. Capt

NJ SPCA So Helene Gregory do you have information to help make removing the horses move forward that you can send through our website ? Also do you truly understand the dynamics of dealing with the NJ Dept of AG and the " Minimum Standards" that guide them ? Please before posting another really sweet post like this here google the Dept of Ag standards and see what we as a Law Enforcement Agency are up against in livestock cases. Capt

NJ SPCA Thank you Joanie Bryson ok I have to go pull a knife out of my back because of a media story !! Enjoy the holiday Capt

I am in no way implying that there is not an incredible amount of stress, frustration, and red tape. I just donā€™t think that speaking to a concerned public audience this way will do anything for the cause.

Truly.
This person needs to stay away from the keyboard.

If the NJ Ag Dept. is as bad as KYā€™s AG Dept. then I can see his frustration.
However, and that is something most jurisdictions donā€™t acknowledge, the AG Dept. has NO SAY in whether charges can or should be filed.

And there have been farms, farriers and many offers of money made. We get it that it has to be done the right way BUT when 3 horses have died in such a horrific manner while NJ SPCA was on it kind of rubs a lot of people the wrong way. One of these officers was threatening to send State Troopers to one person and when told they were in Canada she/he said they knew the head Mountie. Seriously do your job.

Wonder how long they will let my post stay up on their FB page?

If you drag your heels much longer there will be nothing left to save. Every day you wait is a day you are contributing to their suffering. At this point you are as responsible for their abuse as Monica Thors is. What do we have to do to save these horses from YOU?If you drag your heels much longer there will be nothing left to save. Many of the people offering assistance canā€™t read. Thatā€™s how it looks anyway when the form has been posted on their facebook page multiple times, with the request to go to the website and fill out the form. Yet people still keep moaning and complaining and saying I can do this and that. FILL OUT THE FORM. It isnā€™t complicated. Name, contact info, WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP.

I can certainly understand why the guy is frustrated. Iā€™m not anywhere close to the place and have no ability to assist in any way. If you ARE in the area and CAN do something, for the love of God, GIVE THEM THE INFO THEY REQUIRE!!!

For Godā€™s sake, I am not anywhere nearby either but I bet I could find a shipper and a place to take those horses TODAY! It isnā€™t like there are hundreds of them. This is not a difficult task, they could have a warrant in hand in an hour if they wanted it.

I would guess that none of them are sound enough to stand on a trailer to MD.

So they have a warrant in hand. Great. They arrive at the place and then what? They need concrete offers of assistance. Not offers of I bet I could if I had to. Not facebook posts (with no contact information provided) saying people will help with no way for them to be taken up on the offers.

Ok, then go back to hand wringing. How about put her ass in a psych hospital and shelter the horses in place?

Just how would you move the horses that canā€™t stand on their feet? Big rig, well bedded box stalls so they can lie down? How do you get them on the trailer?

Or do you have to have a special ā€œambulanceā€ setup?

Can you block their feet so they can at least hobble onto the rig?

Would probably make the most sense to take a vet out there and euthanize where they lie if they need to be put down, but perhaps they want to get out of there as quickly as possible and evaluate off site, for the safety of everyone involved?

Given the litigious nature of Monica Thors, and seemingly deep pockets, I can understand why they want to get their ducks in a row before proceeding.

Could they at least get an injunction to get her to quit touching their poor sawed-off feet? I have no idea if such a thing is possible, but if it is, it could give some breathing room.

How many horses are there? It looks like only a small number, from the Facebook page.

CD, 7 horses is the number I have seen on FB. Used to be 10, but 3 have died. Plus the goat and all the cats.

No hand wringing here. I merely said that if people are able to help, make those offers in the manner the NJSPCA is requesting. Not vague facebook posts.

Gumshoe , they wonā€™t say what they need-- when, how many trailers, what kind of facilities they need. But then throw their hands up saying that generic offers to help are not valid because theyā€™re not specific or ā€œrealā€. Over the past year, there are people who have emailed this captain with offers to help, and he never responded. I truly do not think this case has been pursued with enough urgency. If being a focus of public outrage creates that sense of urgency, Iā€™m ok with that. Keep it respectful, keep it productive, but keep the pressure on.

Monica Thors has posted video on her FB page of some of her horses being lunged. While a few are clearly lame, a couple others have very exaggerated front leg movement (eg. Missy Anne), like nothing Iā€™ve ever seen from a Standardbred before. Could this be the result of ā€œsoringā€ of the front feet. Iā€™m curious to hear what others think.
