That cake thread was all the everything. AND THEN SOME
Cake thread/Gavrilo Princip remark was funny, but kind of mean to eventingcms, a new member to this forum, who is probably reading through the thread and commenting accordingly. I mean, after all, even if the conversation has taken a bit of a turn, the main topic is still “My horrible experiences with Texas horse trainer/instructor Ellen Doughty-Hume.” And it is a loooong thread.
@eventingcms welcome to the forum and don’t be disheartened by a little teasing.
dead
Oh man I’m glad I popped on for some late-night entertainment.
Wasn’t there a cake thread on here? IIRC no cake photo was ever produced…
@vxf111,
do you realise eventingcms is a minor, and may not necessarily get the Ferdinand reference, or the cake one either, for that matter?
Way to be a Good Sport, @eventingcms
I did not realize. Curious how you can tell?
Is history not a subject in school anymore? I provided the link as reference because I knew not everyone would get it.
I really meant no harm, just a joke. And a reason to link to the greatest internet discussion in the history of humanity
ACk, Yes, I meant you @eventingcms, not OP!! Sorry!!! I haven’t had enough coffee yet to control my typing fingers- how can you tell?
@vxf111, eventingcms mentioned she’s a minor on her other thread
Okay but those posts were made AFTER my post on this thread. So owing to my lack of a time machine and non-functional ESP, I couldn’t have known eventingcms was a minor at the time I posted with the cake thread reference.
Also, I don’t scope out people’s post posting history to try to suss out their age when it’s not pertinent to my reply to them. Do you do that? Go research the posting history of every poster before replying? I don’t really have the time to do that kind of research every time I reply.
Back to EDH. I hope there’s no protective order so the discovery can be made public. I hope there’s a big juicy fat motion for summary judgment attaching loads of it. That’ll be a fun read.
Sure hope that’s the case. Could be a situation of ‘be careful what you wish (sue) for’.
As a weird side note - this thread was locked for me for a few days. People were posting on it, but I couldn’t get in via my notification page. I kept getting a ‘you don’t have permission to view this thread. Contact the admin’ but if i tried that, it said the admin didn’t accept messages. I finally had to go to the eventing page and click into the thread…and was able to get in that way and now my notifications link works again. Weird.
It was not locked. That happens when one of the posts in your notification has been deleted. It is telling you that you can not see that post that was deleted. Once you removed that notification that included the deleted post (by going to the thread via the eventing board) the notification(s) work again.
Well, that’s lame. It was one post, then 7, then 10, etc. Why would a whole notification not work if it’s just one post that is causing the issue? And why wouldn’t the error say ‘post’ instead of thread? Bad programming, that’s why.
Yeah, it probably happened because of my double post hiccup earlier. That happens when I try to post on my phone sometimes. Sorry!
You are oh so right Painted Hunter! HOW did I miss that?! Thanks for pointing it out.
It’s fixed now, but the new link may not be live for 24 hours. It should be working by tomorrow though so it’s visible in the preview.
You got me curious and I ran the math:
At this moment there are 302,365 views and 1,109 responses, which works out to about 272 views per response.
Just looking at some other threads, that’s more than double the typical views per response. Of course, that’s not a proper statistical analysis… I just clicked around and calculated views per response on various threads, including some older, more popular ones.
I get a notification every time this thread gets a post, I then go read it. I am sure I am not the only one who does the same thing.
That is why the number of views is so high.
But one can assume people do that with other threads, too. Especially other popular ones in the COTH community. The views per response are still higher than what appears to be typical.
Not a big deal, I just find it interesting, that’s all.
I thought the view count was was for unique views. Maybe @Moderator 1 can enlighten us?
This is on vbulletain platform which does not count unuque views. Just views.
Regardless, the numbers are pretty impressive. Hoping someone somewhere either has or will use the information in this thread to assist in making a decision on whether or not to become (or stay) involved with EDH. I will be interested in following the lawsuit. EDH will have to be ready to play with the really Big Boys on this one.
When it rains it pours.
Stormy’s ex recently filed for divorce and is apparently suing her for custody and seeking a restraining order. It’s obvioysly a separate matter from the EDH case… but tough timing.
I don’t know anything about any of these people other than publicly available info. I feel badly for the daughter though. Poor kid.
