Obie has also been eliminated before for being lame in dressage: Red Hills CIC3* in 2017. I wonder if it is a rein lameness that she has created in him.
Not to detract from your point, but I believe Stormy has stated that she no longer performs, but instead now directs.
In any case, there are far worse things out there than an Adult Entertainer enjoying horses as a hobby. The core topic of this thread is one such topic, and pervasive.
Sorry if the question was not clear. From another post someone said several COTH’ers went to a strip club to support a stripper, Stormy. My question was would a parent continue to use a trainer for their minor child if they knew that trainer went to strip clubs? I said “take Stormy out of the discussion”.
SD was performing in strip shows through this summer per mainstream news. My question was never about SD.
My question was not about XXX stars as competitors either. My question was in this time of Safe Sport & #Metoo would parents of minor riders stay with a trainer who went to strip bars? The question came about because another poster stated they knew several COTHers who specifically sought out the show of one stripper to show support. In reading that I thought if those people were trainers of minor riders would the parents tolerate that.
Every parent is different? Like other things in life it’s about choice. I’m not a parent, but I would be far more concerned about having my hypothetical child around trainers that chain smoke than ones that go to a strip club on their own time.
Safe Sport is about keeping us… safe. Free from harm, harassment, abuse and the like. How is what someone does, legally, on their own time in any way a threat to us or our children? If someone wants to be the morality police with their trainers and kids’ trainers, so be it, but don’t think for a second it’s making you “safer.”
And yet melania was pilloried for having modeled for risque photos.
No idea. If he’s consistently lame enough to be eliminated at shows, in what condition is she riding him at home when there’s nobody to eliminate her? I have no idea. I don’t know the chick. However, if she’s willing to behave that way in front of the judge, not just once, but repeatedly, what is she doing when the judge is not watching? IJS, when my horse is lame, I get off, cold hose, investigate, treat what I find and put him up. Not haul him to a show and hope nobody notices.
Way earlier in this thread, someone posted that Sir Oberon had been spun in the FEI division of some show at the first horse inspection, so EDH just entered him in the Advanced section. I find that, if true, is horrifying.
I can’t remember if they let her get away with it.
I would not ride a lame horse due to the horse’s own welfare, but mine too. Why would you want to throw a lame horse at large fences and challenging courses?Do you have a death wish for both of you? I mean, if the horse is lame, sore, weakened, and hangs a leg, lacks “oompf” to get over an obstacle, etc. It’s over.
IIRC it appeared Obie lacked the ‘oomph’ as you said to get over an obstacle in the water at Kentucky, which ended their XC run.
To keep this thread on track, please avoid further political commentary, and redirect general Safe Sport-related discussions that don’t directly relate to the subject of this thread to the ongoing threads on those topics.
Thanks,

SLW,
You seem to be inferring a connection or correlation between going to a strip club and the activities SafeSport is trying to address: harrassment and abuse of minors. I am not sure such a connection or correlation exists.
I’m not exactly sure what this has to do with my comment. I didn’t say a trainer went to a strip club, or took students to a strip club. I said that some people who post on COTH went a club to support Stormy.
To further comment on the big picture, I believe that a person is allowed to do whatever they want in their private life as long it is not illegal and does not infringe on the rights of others.
Back to EDH, Obie (imo) is frequently unsound, but I believe she makes the case, at times successfully, that this is just his way of going.
Deleted because I just saw the moderator’s post about keeping this from political topics.
Too bad…because the comment above should be addressed…
Very good, thank you! Just trying to get a sense on what behaviors/activities a trainer might have that are acceptable to parents that don’t conflict with Safe Sport. You answered the question.
My original question was this: “Does what a trainer do outside of equestrian work have zero relationship to his/her work?” as related to another COTHer saying others went to a strip club in support of a stripper. It made me wonder IF any of those people were trainers of youth riders, would that bother the parents?
Someone replied that having a trainer who chain smoked- also a legal activity- would be more of a deal breaker than going to a strip club. I was looking for a pulse of what society is thinking these days, not writing a book about morality.
I 100% understood your remark and it caused me to think that IF any of those people were trainer of youth riders, would that be an issue for parents? From the get go I removed SD’s name, it was a general question. Thanks!
You implied a lot more than just a general question with the moralistic overtone of your post. Yes, people in this day and age of Safe Sport and #MeToo, shouldn’t have to worry about being “caught dead” in a strip club.
#MeToo and SafeSport are about someone’s agency being taken away from them by someone else. Strippers haven’t necessarily had their agency taken away, so if they choose to allow others to ‘objectify’ them, well, that’s their choice.
Oh bluff. I asked a very specific question from a theoretical point of view. It was never about “people”, it was about adults who train youth riders.
