New Article on Cesar Parra Controversy

Thank you for bringing this up.

Because I lost my mind when he was named to a Nations Cup team.

According to reports from folks at the Hampton Classic, it went way beyond simply soring the horses’ legs.

It’s a great example of how the governing bodies pretend to be concerned for a brief window of time, then it’s all swept under the rug and business as usual.

So it wasn’t Parra. But it occurred at his barn, and the whipping was administered by one of his staff, who - again - learned that technique somewhere and (apparently) had no qualms about doing it. Does the buck stop with Parra, or is this how he will wiggle out of that one? (Remember that Andreas Helgstrand is being held responsible for harsh and brutal training techniques by his staff at his facility.)

I remember that people were pretty horrified at the Hamptons show. It was bad for sure, (I was disgusted as well, but I wasn’t there.)

He went on to WEG, and the Olympics as well (if I remember correctly.)

Of course USEF doesn’t mention the Hamptons show in the rider biography about him on their website.

How bad did it have to be for a steward not to fine him, not to refuse his entries in a specific class, but to have him and his horses removed from the show ground? Given the environment we’ve all been discussing in this thread, WHAT did that steward at Hampton see that had him remove Ryan and all his horses from the show grounds?

And then he’s named to a Nations Cup team.

I just can’t even.

There are SOOOO many more videos other than this one and Parra is playing the lead role so no worries on that end. Only some have been made public but I think I read from one of Adam’s posts, they are not releasing the others yet.

If Torres is still in this country, he should be deported!

I am in possession of 70+ of them. So I know they exist. They are being distributed on FB.

There may be others I am not in possession of.

I do hope this is the end of his influence in the sport.

Do you know when they will drop? And maybe what bat channel?

They are everywhere. People sharing them as individuals. Search Parra abuse on FB. Best way.

Been looking. Maybe they are unsearchable. Thanks though. Any tips like yours are helpful.

Look up Lonneke Engel. She was a European supermodel who owns the horse that was permanently injured by the Bartels. She is sharing her stuff as well as video of William PFF convulsing and squirting blood on arena walls (splatter) after Parra abusively lunged him is in the 70 media set.

In addition to what @rogueknits mentioned about the collectives, accuracy, etc is in the “criteria” part of the equation, and in the “modifiers” part.

I agree with you and I have been suspecting it but now it looks like Germany will not do a lot about it… in a couple of weeks, people will stop talking about it and business will go on as usual…:rage:

For the people who get excited about people not reporting the abuse… it’s completely useless….:rage:

Rember the German girl I talked about? She shut up,because a German lawyer threatened her….

Just like before. They bring out the lawyers because they have the money to buy them.

Where is the problem in this scenario?

The other I can sort of see a problem with ethically, but insurance companies don’t pay out on their loss of use policies and let the horse live. The insurance company gives that ultimatum.

That’s not true. Loss of use does not require the horse be euthanized in order to collect, that is mortality.

Erg, yeah, terms confused. Was thinking back to my own situation with a non-life-ending condition 30 years ago and I was given the ultimatum of put down and pay out or take the hit on the horse’s value and career expectations. I took the hit. Not MY smartest career move lol.

USEF folks need to get out of their offices and actually attend horse shows, spending the day with a steward or TD. Many of them have no horse background and have never been to a show, so when things are reported they have no frame of reference. It’s great some go to shows to present awards - but do you ever see them walking the barns, schooling areas, longe ring, or paddocks?

All these mission statements and blah blah blah.

I’m reminded of the statement “the purpose of a system is what it does.” So, what does USDF/USEF/FEI do? That’s their purpose.

My experience with loss of use is that the insurance company took over ownership of the horse when it paid out on loss of use.

The horse was subsequently sold into a much lower level home and had a happy career. Insurance company recouped some of its payout, everyone was happy. Especially the people who got a very fancy, experienced show horse for a fraction of what he was once worth.
