NEW Barisone Court Filing - 7/15/21

I am surprised by all the typos. I noticed the same in the screen shot of a reply from LK’s side - typos and mistakes.

We get pummeled for those in transactional!

There is a response?

Too early. This was just filed late last week.

It was a response (to some case somewhere) in which LK was discussing the recording devices. It was a picture of a computer screen - think you posted it @eggbutt.

I thought they were asking if there was a response to the latest filing by the MCPD and the mentioned officers.

Same judge as the MB/LK suit.

A decision is supposed to be made on the 23rd regarding SGF’s request to stay the other civil trial until after the criminal trial.

Is that standard procedure?

I can’t see how it won’t be stayed, especially now that MB has filed a suit against the police. Police reports will be critical evidence in all three cases. I’m not sure if dismissal without prejudice can be made unless the judge can allow time to toll.

Thank you. This is why we pursued a guardianship for the out of control BPD/BP child I am co-managing with my SO, and why she is living in a group home situation with no car.

We have an obligation to society to protect others from her horrific, yet uncontrollable behavior.

I also have a schizophrenic aunt in a group home. She bashed in the face of an orderly and he needed resonstructive facial surgery. She thought he was trying to kill her. He wasn’t. For the record, she also tried to open an airplane door mid flight years ago.

Again, we owe it to society as the able minded parents or guardians to protect others. Severe mental health disorders are not fun. But it’s never acceptable for a person who has them to cause psychological, emotional or physical harm to others. It’s not an excuse.

I would NEVER allow our afflicted adult child to live in our house, but likewise I would never expect anyone else but a professional to house her at this point, either.

I do think a large majority of this is actually behavioral, because she’s learned to get away with manipulative behavior and even be rewarded for it. It’s always amazing how compliant she becomes in group living when all the goodies have been taken away…

Same here. Years back, she tried to kill my grandmother (her mother) with a butcher knife. They medicated her HEAVILY after that incident, but she would still say way off the wall stuff like she was “going back to college” (she’s never been), or she’s going to have Jimmy Dean’s babies. She is a savant with numbers/days/birthdays, but other than that is a general danger to society if not medicated to the gills.

Edit: The shame of it all is my aunt would likely not be so disabled if she wasn’t born 60+ years ago in rural West Virginia. She was a premie, could fit in your palm, and the nurses thought it was fun to carry her around in their pockets. She should have been in an incubator, clearly, so the lack of oxygen is likely what caused her disability.

@atl_hunter, I think we need a separate topic/ support group for those of us related to folks with psychiatric issues. Except for the part about guardianship, I could have written your post. Ours is now 50 years old and can play the system to a fare thee well. I, too, wonder how much is really BPD/ BP and how much is her acting out to get her way.

The big, constant question with our BPD/BP is will she push it too far? Suicide threats are commonplace, and we’ve learned to largely ignore them*. Button pushing goes on all the time with anyone she’s near to get her way or just punish them for some perceived transgression. In any conflict situation with a person like this, if the recipient isn’t used to the tactic, isn’t able to ignore it, doesn’t know the therapeutic approaches that will (maybe) address the misbehavior, or just is having a bad day, AND the BPD/BP person goes over the line, whatever that line is, the situation can ignite like a brush fire. Sorry, that’s a dreadful sentence, but that’s what it’s like.

  • NB: we have some idea of signs of a real attempt as opposed to feints. I don’t want to make it sound as if we just ignore everything.

Ugh…I’ve told half of my story up thread. In my step kid’s case he was able to regulate his behavior until he was 18, but his rationals behind the behavior were out of this world. The other half of the story is at 15 he’d partnered up with a girl who was probably a budding psychopath and her equally disturbed mother…who was enabling the behaviors. In case you think my description of the girl is harsh…she was convicted of an execution style murder several years ago.

I wrote this elsewhere, but MB worked for decades to achieve all that he had. To the best of my admittedly limited knowledge, he didn’t have a reputation as being an abusive scofflaw who couldn’t or didn’t pay his bills, untrustworthy and someone who talked a good game but didn’t have the skills to back him up. Yet in an apparently short period of time he was so beset upon by one student (and SO? Parent?) that a group of employees, his girlfriend, her children and himself were sleeping in a barn and frightened. He threw those decades of self-discipline into the crapper and shot her. What kind of person behaves like this and why?

He still should not have shot her.

Which person are you speaking of? If you are referring to MB, how about 7+ days of sleep deprivation, stress, fear, frustration, trying to protect his business, friends, loved ones, finding no one to help as far as law enforcement, false allegations of child abuse? The real question is what causes a ne’r do well to attack, refuse to vacate, threaten, abuse, lie, install illegal equipment, stalk, harass for reasons only they can explain? A game? A thrill?

This is the question on everyone’s minds.

Was he sleeping in the barn due to fear or due to conditions in the house, a vacate order or all of the above?

What the hell happened?

And, I bet many wonder if it can happen to THEM.

What triggers a fall from grace? What’s the REAL story?

Exactly. I hope some competent writer and researcher has sold the idea to their publisher. I want facts.

I hesitate to even say anything at all about this mess but I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on how we see people with mental illness due to some crap going on in my own life. I think sometimes we do a poor job of understanding it and empathizing with them and as a result we kind of isolate people that are struggling and it makes them struggle more. I think we’re quick to dismiss things or people as “unhinged” or a “whackadoodle” when really it’s a lot more complicated.

I know for example LK gets judged on here all the time for bringing old threads back up and arguing with people (or threatening them in some cases). To me, I always assumed that was a coping mechanism to deal with the trauma. I mean it’s obviously not ok and probably not healthy but I think we’re all guilty of poking fun and making snarky comments when the reality is that this is probably someone going through something.

I won’t defend her character because I wasn’t there but at the same time I know that I get heated about coth topics all the time and it one of those coth topics happened to be about how I got shot… I would be a mess on here too.
