Do you know the terms of the settlements between LK and SGF/MB, VHM?

I know you’ll push a narrative that LK settled for a token amount because she was terrified of being deposed/ going to trial etc, but there’s no evidence to support that particular flight of wishful thinking.

I’ve expected all along that the case would be settled, just because that’s the outcome most of the time.

This is a win for both sides to be able to avoid the expense and the risk of a trial.

I will agree with you that it’s a win to put this issue to bed and avoid the costs (financial and personal) of going to trial, but you can’t seriously be saying with a straight face that LK could have got millions in this settlement, when:

1. she has no gainful employment on record, and thus no income to lose, and
2. the timing of this dismissal or settlement comes on the heels of a threat to make her behavior public.

Any reasonable person would surmise that the suit being dropped has everything to do with LK not wanting her behavior to be publicly exposed.

We likely will never know… but the logical 1+1 conclusion isn’t hard to reach if you read between the lines.

So maybe @ekat or one of the other attorneys will know… but if there actually really is a monetary settlement on the party of RC (per IM’s claim)… will and of that money go to reimburse costs incurred by LKs health insurance company in relation to the shooting?

For some reason, I thought I recollected someone speaking about that possibility earlier in a prior thread. I might be misremembering though.

I think we talked about it but someone who knows NJ law better said that doesn’t happen there.

I think the same way. After all, it was GAS who claimed that LK would be subjected to embarrassment .if her deposition wasn’t limited in its scope. That has always stuck with me, the acknowledgment that the deposition would embarrass her. She had a pretty good idea what was going to come out, considering not just the text messages, but the SM posts and the notorious North Carolina incident (whatever that was).

The other settlements were filed with the courts (that they exist). Why would this one be any different?

Because when the notice was filed that SGF had settled, other parties remained in the suit and there were cross claims and counterclaims still outstanding between various parties. They could not file a stipulation of dismissal of the parties that settled as the settling parties were still parties to the lawsuit because of the cross claims.

I am not a litigator, but I am a (now retired) lawyer, and served as general counsel to many of my corporate clients. When a settlement to a lawsuit was reached, at least in our jurisdictions, a stipulation of dismissal was filed with the court. I take the “adjudicated by and between the parties” to mean that some sort of settlement agreement was reached. Like I said before, it may or may not involve that payment of money, but there would not be a stipulation of dismissal unless some type of agreement was reached.

By me, stipulations of settlement are filed with the court. So are dismissals. A SO ORDERED stip is signed by the judge.

To my eye this looks more like a mutual withdrawal of each parties complaint.

With prejudice means new cases can’t be filed so that’s good.

I guess there was no solid gold after all. Gee, what a surprise.

I’m thinking the Kanarek’s- ALL OF THEM - were VERY worried about depositions and questions and exposing text content along with those pesky illegal surveillance materials.

I don’t see anything that says the terms can’t be discussed. If that’s correct and LK was awarded any money I am confident she will crow about it.

The settlement agreement itself could say the terms are confidential. The settlement agreement was not filed with the court, just the agreement dismissing the court cases.

I think it’s awful if LK’s claim was dismissed and she still got money out of RC. That doesn’t seem fair at all.

Or SGF. Just think, if they’d held out for a few more days….

The suit was dismissed because all parties have now settled out of court. SGF settling last week was a major move that set the overall settlement in motion.

How sad, pathetic, disgusting, and truly revealing. These people will be known forever for their deeds. There must be some really ugly facts that would have come to light about this family.

Now, on to SS/USEF. Lauren Kanarek deserves to be banned for all she has done to so many, not the least of which was sending CPS to MHG on false pretenses and weaponizing SS against others.

They simply feared more exposure, depositions, new things coming to light in my opinion.

In my civil court every stip is filed in court so that if need be, a violation of stipulation could be filed. With no stip recorded, any problem leaves little recourse.
