New Forum Fun, Questions and Glitch Reports

Just tried again, both while on this thread (with no reply window open) right after reading your thread, and then I hit the big C to go back, and did it from that page for another attempt. Supposed to simply type ZZ, correct? Not holding any other key down, or something?

I would like to think that the majority of the posters here would not do something like that.

shift+z, shift+z. Type two capital Zs.

Do any of the other keyboard shortcuts work for you?

If not, it’s probably that setting in FF where you search the page when you start typing. That link above  has the details on how to disable so keyboard shortcuts will work.

Well that’s just rude

Edits still take a long time for me, whether on FireFox or MS Edge

I KNOW RIGHT?!!

(I have a touchscreen laptop, so I don’t have the keyboard shortcut menu. I want all the toys, come on!)

That shift+ZZ kicked me right out! Didn’t even ask If I really wanted to log out or anything, just BAM. Home page.

Clearly they assume that you will not accidentally hit those key strokes. Laugh.

I am the world’s worst typist and there is literally no telling what my keyboard will accidently spit out. Sometimes I look at what I’ve typed and wonder if a demon possessed my fingers. Cause that ain’t what I thought I was typing - and sometimes it doesn’t even resemble English.

I like to do the ā€˜oh, this is what it looks like if my fingers start on the wrong keys’ thing.

I just got kicked out again, had to login again.

I think that glitch is somehow related to having followed a link into some solar water tanks?

Maybe some links are throwing a wrench into how this program changes pages and kicks a poster out?

Log-in was no problem.

I’m still getting booted off the site all the time. If there’s a pattern to it, I haven’t figured it out yet.

I hadn’t been kicked off in a few days.
Getting logged out anytime I move from one thread/topic to another or if I click on the hamburger to jump to another forum/place.
I’m on an IPhone. Does not matter if I’m in mobile or desktop mode.

Are all of you that have this loggoff problem using an Apple device and the safari browser?

I am. :raising_hand_woman:

I am.

Given that the session thing is still an issue, maybe a forced logout has been implemented as a measure of short-term security until the issue has been fixed? Perhaps a user’s session gets removed and the user kicked out when it’s detected session security problems? That’s pure speculation but I’m sure it’s first priority in getting fixed.

The shadow on the screenshots looks much better

Okay, great–at least we now have a consistency. That should help in reproducibility, and getting to a solution.

@Moderator_1 can share with the dev team

Thanks guys!

The other thing I’ve noticed is that if I forget that I am logged out and hit the reply button, I don’t see any sort of a prompt that tells me I need to login in order to post. I wonder if that happens to everybody? If so, maybe it should be addressed.

Could somebody please direct me to an example? I have not noticed such a thing, but I don’t know if I just haven’t come across one since the change, or if it does not appear on my screen for some reason.

Oh, that’s interesting. Hitting the ā€œreplyā€ button acts just like clicking login–it fetches your log in details from the main site, and automatically logs you in here, so you can reply.

Not sure if there’s any harm to that behavior, since it is pulling just like the log in button, but that is kind of novel.

I had to go log out just to try it!
