I think that is normal. When you click on a page it takes you to the top of that page.
My vertical scroll bars are missing (in Chrome). Anyone else having this problem?
so signed out then signed back in and all those I had in the Ignore box were gone, back to zero in the Ignore box … but one positive I can quote once again
It’s taking me to the top of the first page, not the page I clicked on, like this thread shows it has 3 pages but when I click on page 3, I get sent back to the very first post of this thread.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood. That does not sound normal at all.
I did the same, thinking it was going to show more threads, but its for the posts within a thread.
There will need to be more per page as many are going to get to the 3 or 4th page very quickly. Hopefully can be fixed.
I don’t seem to be able to ignore people anymore. I’m not sure I want you to fix that, though, since it will keep me from wasting any time on the political and current events discussions.
Also, there is a problem with new posts and new threads being displayed properly. For example, under “Current Events,” sometimes I can see the new “Education” thread and sometimes I can’t. And within the Education thread, when I can see it, some posts appear and disappear when I open and close the thread. For example, at the moment, I can’t see a post made by rubygirl, even though I did see it earlier and someone else has quoted it.
Edited for additional clarification - when I look under settings, it does still list the people I have on ignore, but those people and their posts show up just like everyone else’s.
And, there doesn’t seem to be a way to put someone on ignore. When I click on someone’s username, it takes me to their profile, like always, but the option to ignore that person is no longer there.
Had same thing happen too sign in then signed out and all on ignore list are gone.
Signing in on phone is a real PITA type in password/ username hit log-in, and poof back to log-in page and not log-in. After 8 tries i finally got log-in in clicked on remember me…so don’t have that hassle again.
On the left of a thread, there’s a blue circle with 2 down arrow thingies, which is “go to first new post”, which would be (theoretically) the first post made since your last visit. So far I know it works for me for subscribed posts, though I haven’t tested it with ones I’m not subscribed to. That works the same as it did on the old software.
What still doesn’t work, as in, didn’t work the old way either, is clicking a thread title from the overall Forum view, meaning, it’s the first thread in that forum, and appears under the Last Post column of each forum. It SHOULD take you to the first post of that thread, but takes you to the last post instead
They are different. They are public by default, and you can make them private. I always thought they were annoying, as some people on another forum with that feature would use it instead of PM
When I try to quote 2 posts, the top left button (tan-ish for me) shows there are (2) posts to quote, but when I click it, only the most recent one I hit Quote on shows up
Now that I can edit: the only reason there are 2 quoted posts here is because I copied one when I realized I was going to lose it when I hit Quote on another lol
If it matters - I’m using Chrome
I liked the color layout better on the old site.
All the bright white is really hard on my eyes and gives me a headache (literally)
Take a look at the old site on the wayback machine using this link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20150312…p?95-Off-Topic
IMHO… Change all of the grey backgrounds, back to the light blue, and make all of the margin areas hunter green again.
Or use any other colors that the design team likes. But the main idea is to eliminate as much of the bright white as possible.
Also,
I can’t get the fonts to work
The above text was entered in the editor as “Georgia in size 18”.
The formatting disappears once it’s previewed or posted.
Text Color is working ok.
I’m using Safari 10.0.3 on a Mac.
Edited to add: Look at the vBulletin forum:
https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/
I think the use of the grey outside boarder is much easier on the eyes.
I’m finding that the search feature is not working. I searched for a set of terms that should have come up with results (a conversation I remember having with another user about a specific product summer 2016.) No combination of search terms would produce results. I also tried some terms that should definitely come up hot- “John French” and “rollkur,” though not in the same query with the same result.
I tried to customize my content background and so on via the Styles option under Profile. The background saved to the custom hex color I put in when I hit save on my profile, but defaulted to white as soon as I left the profile area. That does not seem like the desired result.
Chrome 55.0.2883.87 Windows 7.
I keep getting a pop up that says something like “Can’t connect to the server” when I click on a page number to change pages.
It can only type (reply) on Firefox.
I normally use IE.
I could log in AT ALL in Internet Explorer (on multiple computers), but I could if I used Edge. If I’m using Internet Explorer, which is the browser on most computers I access, nothing happens when I hit the “log in” button. It just sits there. I use IE11, so it’s not old. Who knows how many people this affects who can’t log on to complain?
I am missing the “last read” feature, which was my go to on really long threads. I’d always go to page 1, then click the “last read” button, which would take me directly to the end of the last post that I had read on that thread. Am I overlooking that feature, somehow?
I can’t see that there are multiple pages of a thread like I could on the old platform. I am using Chrome on a Macbook.
After second pass through (and a number of hours later, leaving myself logged in)…
Ignored users show up in my profile, but I still see their posts.
I can’t find the instructions on how to quote multiple posts in a single reply. Maybe an addition How To topic in help?
I can change the number of posts in a topic but I’d like more topics per page.
I used to read the old forum by going to the main forum page (showing all the forums), seeing which ones had new replies since my last visit, selecting a forum and being able to see what was the last read topic from my previous visit. I don’t seem to be able to see this last functionality (or it is “hidden” in a little icon I haven’t noticed yet). The Mark This Channel as Read (or close to that wording) at the bottom of the topics page seems to tick the flag that I’ve read everything so that when I come back to the main Forums page I can see which forums have new topics/replies since my last visit.
Overall, kudos to what appears to be a fair smooth transition… forums were up soon than posted and much, at least for me, is just learning where the “new” things are hidden and/or how to do them.
Oh, and I do like the convenience of seeing a list of my recent posts from my profile page
We have an FAQ on this one here:
Thank you
I completely didn’t see the FAQ topic in the Technical Assistance forum (was just looking in Help)
