New site GLITCH and PROBLEM reporting HERE

Now this is interesting - you will notice that I just posted basically the same thing twice (but by the second time, I had seen a post about multi-quoting.

Both times I tried to submit the message, Chrome sat and thought for a long time, and then popped up a white modal dialog box:

Edit Conversation
[red triangle with exclamation point] Empty Response
[green OK button]

Latest version of Chrome, Windows 10 Professional. I have switched to Firefox to see what happens here.

Edited to add - same thing happened in Firefox, but the posted is here.

Edited a second time - the editing went fine.

So I had to create a completely new user. (Used to be danceronice.) I tried every password I can think of, and when trying to use e-mail recovery, it didn’t recognize any personal e-mail I have on the account where I (used to) receive forum notifications. When I went through the register/previous user option, it still didn’t have any e-mails but it did think my user name was taken. And I couldn’t find any way to contact someone without creating another account.

I’m trying something again, to see if what I think is happening is actually happening.

Edited to add: OK, so much for that theory. I was wondering if having square brackets in my post was somehow confusing the server. Apparently not, because this post didn’t have them and I still got the empty conversation error.

I think some of the tinkering behind the scenes while we’re live is resulting in some of the erratic posting behaviors. I’ve been experiencing them too. I think a little time will cure those.

Multi-quote is working sporadically for me, so I’m going to contact them about that.

@danceronice I’m probably missing something, but your posts are showing up as belonging to your regular account with more than 12,000 posts. Are you still having trouble logging in, or was your issue resolved?

@Bluey The photo upload worked OK? I was just about to log in under a non-mod account to check that out since I hadn’t seen anyone discussing pictures in here.

Thanks everyone!

Except since it’s not working, I had to respond immediately without going to the additional pages to see that Mod 1 admitted it wasn’t working. Even after asserting it was when I had already pointed out that, no, it wasn’t. It seems as if it broke on Chrome first from following the responses about it, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.

There is no “top” button. When I get 300 posts deep, I used to be able to hit “top” and get right up there. Now I have to scroll. Minor issue. Thanks for the new forum.

I’m not clicking on some threads because of this. It takes to long. And posting on the forum really sucks on my kindle. I’m having all sorts of problems!!!

And just now ![](ot this message from the notifications section concerning this thread and notwithstanding the fact I’ve come to this page from the notifications page several times today.

Still tries to post twice. When I click “Post Reply” it gives a little “Working” icon and grey out the “Post Reply” button. But it doesn’t return you to the last post.

So it seems like the reply wasn’t accepted, then when I click again, it says I must wait as I have already replied.

Running Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) on Yosemite.

Notifications only go away when you dismiss them, not when you click on them. .

No, I’m getting that message when I want to GO to the page/new post. I am able to dismiss them with no problem

And now the links are working again to get me to this thread. Strange times getting this new site working.

It seems to think I’m in a different time zone (plus one hour). I played around with settings, discovering a few cool things in the process, but was not able to reset the clock.

And now it seems to be hanging when I try to post this.

I use MOzilla as my primary browser and the site won’t open on it.

I had that happen twice already today, and I’ll probably get it for this post too.

Sometimes, when I go to the main discussions page, the last forum I see is Off Course - none of the “extra” ones below. And sometimes I see everything.

Win 10 Pro / newest Chrome

Edited to add: I figured this one out. Discussion forums only brings up Dressage through Off Course. To get the other stuff, you have to go back to Forums.

Today, when I post a comment/reply, it takes quite a while to process. Then, a pop-up says “Empty Response.” I refresh the page, and my comment did actually post, but also saved as a draft.

I’ve given the new forum a chance or two, tried to play around, but some of the things that I already mentioned before (and will recap on) really irk me. I as a general rule avoid cumbersome sites - I don’t like having to do all the work for finding links on the website - just like I don’t like doing all the work for a lazy school-horse  there isn’t much accessibility at all with the new site.

The board being centered in between the sidebars is nice, but the window does not resize and I have to constantly scroll left/right to actually see the content of the board. It’s very slow and lags my computer when I scroll. If this feature stays I wonder if programmers are able to make it so that the size of the sidebars/navigation/etc scales with the size of the window - should be pretty easy for any old programmer/developer to do.

The lack of a ‘get new’ function for all new posts is severely hampering browsing efficiency - the “SEE LATEST ACTIVITY” does not serve the same function as it gives me no information on how many posts or who the posters are participating - and I don’t want to see the new threads, I want to see new posts. Half the time I view a post it’s because I see someone I enjoy reading has posted in it. It’d be nice to get that feature back. I know that “See Today’s Post” is a default option in most board-hosting programs, so it means someone somewhere eliminated or adjusted this setting. I advise putting it back on or making it default again, as it is how many browsers/users browse the site. It’s a very easy way to see “what’s happening in COTH world” and on the old layout, you could see information like who posted it, a little of what the content is, and who the last poster was, how many pages, how recently.

Then, only seeing 10 threads a page is really difficult on navigation. That and not seeing how many actual pages there are on a thread until you click the thread is a little frustrating. There are times I want to see what’s happening “in media res” and I don’t want to have to load 2 pages first before selecting “see page 3”.

The page number widget is really screwy with me - it will input/command/enter half the time.

The top navigation bar and log in menu, I keep getting logged out and it doesn’t let me click “remember me” half the time – when it does, it doesn’t remember me anyway if I close the tab.

I’ll admit while I’m excited for this new layout, I really, really don’t like its’ lack of ergonomic design - it’s very cumbersome to manage and I’ll admit that I have spent less time on COTH today/yesterday than normal (maybe a good thing) because I’d rather just not have to deal with the new inefficient layout.

I do like the visuals of the layout - I think there, the coders did a good job. It’s clean and professional looking.

That’s what happened to me as noted in post #115 (and verified by the double post).
