New site GLITCH and PROBLEM reporting HERE

@beowulf , well said.

It thinks I’m on Central Time, not Eastern. Which I am going to assume is because I’m on my work computer and the server is in Houston. The internet generally thinks I’m in Houston when I’m actually in NY. I haven’t logged in from home yet to verify that theory.

My set up says I am Eastern time and all the times shown are Central time and my work server (am using a work computer in the office) is for sure in Eastern time.

I believe others have commented on the time issue.

This has happened to me every time I have tried to post.

I admit I’m having a really hard time with this new forum. I’m learning to deal with not being able to go, on a particular thread, to the last post I read but I still hate all the searching I have to do to find where I left off. And, I know I found it once, but I cannot find again the spot where it lets you choose the way you want to see posts. I want to go earlier to later. In other words, I want to see the post entered 1:15 PM before I see the post entered at 2:20 PM. I do not like having to go to the last post on the thread and then read backwords.

Edited to add that I’m also having trouble with the new post feature not showing that the post has been saved.

@Louise, default is oldest to newest, just like the old board. I think you can change that on the far right from the forum page, by using the “filter” drop down?

The blue circle with two down arrows that’s to the immediate left of the thread title should take you to the first new post. Not sure if it’s working correctly, but the functionality is there once the kinks are worked out

Odd Iconography. In a forum, there is a little ‘piece of paper’ icon to the left of each thread. If there are new posts, a little green arrow shows up on the piece of paper, and if you hover over it, it says “contains unread posts”.

But if there are no new posts, the little piece of paper is there without the little green arrow. However, if you hover over it, it STILL says “contains unread posts.” So, some confusion there…

@Moderator 1 I was playing around with the time thing. If I select the timezone I’m in (EST) and tell the board to never apply DST, I’m able to kick it to the correct time. So perhaps there’s something that’s trying to kick everyone onto DST and causing the wrong time to be displayed?

@Simkie OK, I found that, it’s on “descending” but it is still showing newest first. Thanks for telling me about the blue circle thing. I didn’t know about that at all.

Can an admin help me figure out how to log into my other account? I guess I had a few different accounts registered to this email address but I can’t figure out how to get back my “old” account :frowning: It keeps defaulting to this one which is NOT the one I want to use. Thanks!

I just logged in from my Android phone, and the site keeps asking me to update my profile, even though I did that on my computer earlier and managed to get rid of the prompt there.

Edited to add: The “empty response” problem is happening on my phone too.

I found yesterday that after about an hour of being here my eyes became very strained from reading. This never happened on the old site. Any ideas on how I can fix my screen to make it less glaring maybe? I am not computer savvy. Thanks.
I tried to play with the avatar feature but can’t get it to work.
Other that its been fairly easy to adjust to.

You should be able to ajust screen brightness on your computer,on my computer there’s an icon on toolbar to ajust brightness.

I’m at home and the forum is still an hour ahead of me. It is now 6:29 EST. which I guess is kind of weird unless this site is hosted in Nova Scotia. An explanation would be if the forum time were an hour behind Eastern, not ahead. Then we might assume the forum server is in the central zone

I’m in the central zone and the forums is an hour ahead of my time. Its 5:39 pm here and forums is 6:39 pm

Still can’t log in if using IE11. I have to borrow a computer with another browser to log on (can’t use other browsers on my main computer). I don’t want this to get lost amongst other issues, as at a bare minimum we should be able to log in.

Spring forward. It’s giving you your DST time. Either select the timezone one behind you, or click the never apply DST button, and you’ll be in the right zone

You can download the newer version of google chrome,i’m running on google chrome newer version and no problem with login. I have issues with internet explorer though, but have chrome for another browser so use it,almost need two browsers any more.

How do we turn off notifications altogether? I swear I’ve unchecked every box on the notifications page except the one to receive an email when I have a private message and I still see the red Notifications ticker whenever anyone so much looks at a thread I might have thought about reading.

I know, a small annoyance.

I found that I was getting a bunch of “someone has replied to a conversation you have subscribed to” notifications. I don’t care about those at all. Is that what you’re getting?

I got rid of those by going to my subscription list and unsubscribing from everything this year.

It’s a self limiting problem, as default is no longer to subscribe to threads you’ve posted to.
