New site GLITCH and PROBLEM reporting HERE

I can see your signature.

Go to User Settings, pick the Account tab. About half way down the page there is Conversation Detail Options. Make sure “Show Signatures” is checked.

I am having trouble with the search function - I can’t get any results when I search. Even if I type in the exact title of a recent thread, I get a message saying “sorry, your search returned no results”.

This is happening with both Internet Explorer and Chrome.

I think the search functions was mentioned on here somewhere. Don’t think it’s yet up and working?? Things are getting fixed though slowly but surely.

Why on earth would someone adjust screen brightness for one site, when they at least theoretically do other things on their computer/device?

Also an unacceptable answer. I hate “just upload new software” as an answer. If I get that answer, my answer is typically buh-bye.

Also, multi-quote still does NOT work properly. There’s absolutely no reason the first time you press quote it takes you from where you are reading a post to the bottom of the page, then you have to find your place again. Total pain in the butt. Technically you can make it work if you manage to find your spot and keep reading, but it’s annoying.

And the ignore function is still not working. There are a few people who I so frequently find offensive and hateful that I need to put them on ignore.

Honestly, there’s so many issues with this new site there isn’t time to list them all. They’re serious issues, too, issues that make navigating/reading/flat out using the site so difficult that many will just click the X and move on to other sites.

It’s pretty but it’s buggy as heck.

Why in the world would clicking “next page” take you to the first post of a multi-page thread? Pretty darn frustrating to try and follow any conversation posted here. What is up?

I notice Mod 1 has ceased responding. Thanks for trying, Mod 1. Maybe you are as frustrated as we are.

@netg The developers made some immediate initial adjustments to the color scheme. They are responsive to making further changes and asked for input.

After their initial tweak, I said that some users were still dissatisfied with the background color, but I thought we should focus on some of the major functionality glitches that had arisen, like the folks on IE who couldn’t even log in, and all the wacky posting issues from yesterday, and then we could continue to fine-tune after everyone had more of a chance to get used to things…in particular, get used to the site when it is functioning as intended!

As indicated, we’re aren’t expecting all users with older versions of IE to upgrade or switch browsers. The developers do have to make a decision on how far back they can support older browsers, however. I have not been able to verify from actual users yet, but they have supposedly fixed the log-in issue for IE v. 10 and 11. Users with IE versions older than that would have to upgrade or switch browsers.

I haven’t tested multi-quote today, but I will. I don’t think I like either how you’re immediately taken to the message composition field when you press quote…that’s annoying when you are planning to multi-quote. I’ll look into whether we have options about how the software handles that.

I think background color is the least of anyone’s concerns…

If you want to hold off on visiting for a couple of days while we address the inevitable growing pains of the release of a new site, that’s completely understandable.

I’m happy to see that the posting issues we were experiencing yesterday have been resolved for me. For everyone else? Do we have anyone who’d been having trouble logging in with IE now able to do so? The developers supposedly addressed that issue last night, and I’d like to check on the progress.

Sswor, In what situation do you experience the issues with the next page loading incorrectly? From what screen?

Thanks ~
Mod 1

FWIW, multiquote is working fine for me @Moderator 1  Thanks for all your hard work on this!!

Not Sswor but on any thread that has multiple pages, when you get to the bottom of page 6 say and then click on page 7 (or next), you find yourself back at the very first post and no page numbers are found. It’s like the site takes you to one big page 1 with ALL the posts now on page 1. On a thread that has 176 (or more pages), the system can’t handle it and a system error comes up instead.

Arrrgggghhhhhh…

I 'Quote’d 3 posts. Post Reply (3) at the top, the reply box (here) has only one reply. Clicking Post Reply (3) doesn’t seem to do anything.

I do like that I can now resize this reply box  YAY!

The 'Working" and spinning blue wheel issue from yesterday seems to have been solved.

I have very few notifications checked (only 2 out of the list). It seems that I will get ‘subscribe’ notifications only on posts that I’ve replied to in my last visit. I am trying to be more diligent with the Mark Channel As Read (but, IMO, a PITA to have to remember to scroll to the bottom).

As for older versions of browsers… most probably don’t want to hear my personal opinion. Browsers and other software at some point should be updated. I’m fine if software isn’t updated as soon as a new release comes out as, esp for browsers, new releases can break existing applications. I get that. But, at some point, developers who won’t upgrade their apps need to address this issue (often the focus is on new functionality and not “upgrades” which are typically invisible to the user). Old software, such as browsers, also become a boat anchor for their developers… how many different versions of IE or Chrome are Google or MS supposed to support? The line is very fuzzy and different users and different applications have different needs but, at some point, unless there is a good reason to not upgrade, then someone should upgrade software. At some point, someone should not be surprised, when running very old software, to be told that the “fix” is to upgrade…

And a teeny-tiny whine not at the top of the list… larger fonts/icons pretty please

Regarding notifications, there are two places you should check to manage your settings: your notification settings and your subscriptions list.

Your notifications settings you adjust under your Notifications tab under “User Settings.” That will tell the system what kind of notifications you want to receive.

Your subscription list you access by going to your profile and clicking on “Subscriptions” from right under your Location in your profile. There you can unsubscribe from threads or forums that you don’t want to receive notifications for.

There may be some wonky business going on with the notifications as well, but I wanted to make sure we all knew were we could go to manage these settings.

Thanks!

@Moderator 1 As this post shows, I can multi-quote too.
It does jump around like others have commented. When I hit quote it jumps to the bottom and I have to figure out where I was that I hit quote. Not the most user friendly way to do it, but better than not being able to quote or multi-quote.

I use Firefox (not sure what version) and I have not had this problem (yet?). (In case that helps the people working on the issues.)

I messed with the notifications had opted out of them. Then went back and opted for some of the notifications now i get none even with it turned back on.

Tried Firefox on a PC and the same thing happened. Clicking on a page number jumps the thread back to post 1 instead of to the page. And the long threads, the system just grinds.

Strange. I just jumped around all the pages in this thread (just to test it) and it never took me anywhere but the page I picked. It does scroll funky (visually) to the top of the page on the new page, but it is most certainly on the page that I picked, not the first page.

I had that happen too, on day 1. I wondered if that poster is on invisible mode. I no longer find the list o current logged in users. And while I’m thinking of it, is there no where to search member names anymore?

Apparently, it switched after I posted? I I have no idea how. But I do know that the password retrieval wasn’t working and it wouldn’t let me go through Registration without creating a “new” account.
