Nick Peronace Dressage

Oh dear, self-delusion is not a pretty sight. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to prevent the less experienced becoming involved in feeding the delusion by entertaining this gentleman’s fantasies of being a dressage master. Hopefully his dressage adventure will be curtailed when he actually gets to do a real clinic and people realise it is all ego and fantasy.

I dunno. I’ll save my outrage for actual abuse cases.

This is pretty mild stuff to warrant such a feeding frenzy.

I just want to see a video - mostly of Nick riding (any horse, doesn’t have to be Chevy), preferably a fairly current video, but one showing him giving a clinic would be interesting, too. I want to know what this “leading by silk reins” thing is all about. Where in IA is the clinic? I’m not too awfully far away to consider auditing…

I would like to hear what he has to say about the rest of riding, like the basics! A lot of talk about fancy tricks that can be easily taught that he supposedly taught his Appy, but can you actually provide us with something that shows you riding a horse using it’s back properly in a working trot? Canter? Walk even?

Hmmm, the tablet won’t let me see…and I chucked my FB account some months back. Is the clinic in Des Moines? If so, then it IS too far from me and I’ll just be happy to see the video that may or may not exist.

Agree. Who cares, if people sign up, they may learn a mix of a few valuable tips and then some faux information. Big deal…I am more worried about those trainers who achieve correct results, aka winning competition rides with harsh methods. They do more harm because top trainer/riders want similar results and will spread this type of training. I personally dislike the young horse classes and believe they have led to more and more trainers pushing very young horses too soon. Far more widespread damage with that then this one local guy who may mislead a few naïve students about his actual accomplishments.

[edit]

One does feel a certain dismay, at the thought of those paying $100+ for his purported knowledge.

Jentri Stables, the facility at the address Nick lists on his website, got back to me. Nick does not, nor has he ever, worked there. She said he reportedly rode there as a kid with the previous owners. This is so pathetic.

Why are there 10 pages on this and not much on real abuse and neglect

http://www.ratemyhorsepro.com/news.aspx

and I have no connection to RMHP but still I’m scratching my head here on why this sort of thing -someone exaggerating their experience- deserves more attention than real abuse and neglecT.

Maybe put all this energy towards helping those animals that really need it

There have been several threads on many forums of CoTH regarding abuse cases, not sure what you are getting on about.

Besides just exaggerating experience we now know he’s flat out lying about things. Publicly. To potential, and likely current clients. That abusive towards people.

I think we all know that abuse of animals does happen

but abuse of clients, both novice clients and very experienced clients is a culture that seems to pervade the horse world to the very top.

How many questions, articles and court cases of trainers / owners / sellers / para-professionals have we discussed here

and how many people seem to shrug and say " they don’t call it horse trading for nothing"

Perhaps this discussion will save one potential client and their horse the frustration

Also, “people do not know what they do not know”. How do we know his methods are not abusive, so far just have the testimonies of some star struck novices as there is no video evidence of his riding or training methods. But even if for the sake of argument he is just a harmless little man living the dream, there is a trickle down effect of the lack of education and knowledge…and this can enable abuse because of lack of knowledge. Only the horse owners can speak up for their horses and time and time again when suckered into a relationship with a charlatan they do not=abuse.

Abuse of clients, how funny! While it can happen, a client, a person, has a choice, and independent free will. An animal being abused or harshly trained has no voice and no free will and can not escape their situation.

Nah. I doubt too many reading here would be sucked in by this

Start a new thread…there is nothing wrong with CoTHers giving the heads up to those who don’t want to waste their money!

Nope.

I did get his home address though. He lives about 20 minutes from there… And not at a horse farm. He has to know who they are.
