Nick Peronace Dressage

Leann, I’m sorry that you and your horse got caught up in this. He’s lovely and you’ve done a good job.

The umbrage that we’re all taking with Mr. Peronace is that he has outright lied about his qualifications and supposed opportunities (ie publishing deals etc.). No, he’s not abusing animals - but trainers and teachers have (IMO) a moral obligation to their students to be honest about their experiences and guide them safely and he’s abusing the trust of his clients.

Side note:

Dear friends, can we move on past the negativity of what a handful of critics are saying? I did not want to start the year out with suing anyone and that in itself is negative enough. Please, no more post, I appreciate some of you coming to my defense, but as I posted a picture earlier showing the kind of riders they are, they’re on willing to take me up on my offer of a free clinic, and all the continuous rants, proves these are nothing but self deluded hateful and jealous individuals.

There are plenty of pictures of us on this board - some of us are better/more experienced riders than others, but we’re honest about our skill sets and are not misleading people.
. This man is simply ignorant as are the riders he draws in.
No. This man set out to deceive people by systematically lying about his credentials. That means he is not an innocent who simply overestimates his ability. He is a scammer. Personally, I believe that people who are aware of such deception and remain silent about it are complicit in the deception.

Having said that, some of what has gone on in the thread has not been good, imo. But not any of the stuff that actually involves NP himself - he doesn’t play fair so he can’t expect anyone to play fair with him.

Liz

Dressage COTHers, can anyone post some lovely videos of great riding and teaching? This would be a perfect time to show what excellent dressage looks like. I am a newbie dressage rider from Eventerland, so always like to get good examples. TIA!

PS Especially interested in balanced cantering and lateral work.
I know he’s polarizing to some COTHers, but…

turn down the volume - the video has music  No lateral work shown here…but, a pic of actual airs (the levade is a TB btw)

And in response to that statement, and to list my 2013 “credentials” as an AA rider…2013 Second Level NCDCTA AA Champion, 3rd place NCDCTA HOY Second Level, consistently scoring in the mid-high 60s at Second Level during 2013. My credentials as a breeder are inaugural recipient of the Elysium Fund from the Dressage Foundation, attendee at both the mare and stallion Hannoveraner Verband Breeder’s Course, contributor to the Education Committee of the AHS.

OK, NP…what are your credentials as a professional?

I agree!

I used to board at the same farm as Jane Savoie MANY years ago (Zuleika Farm) and watched her ride a lot. Once she let me ride Happenstance to see what it felt like to be on the bit (albeit just at the walk). Loved watching any clinic or lesson she gave.

Regarding posting videos we like of dressage…

Is this where I get to put in that one of Klimke and Ahlerich in New York?

Well, this is a story I’d like to hear. Foam finger? Beer hat? Doing the wave?

I just rode one weekend with him…he’s not an aggressive trainer or anything and I am fairly new to dressage I did all the training on Fem but frankly have only been able to afford open shows and schooling shows. I don’t plan to go big with him just plan to keep it fun and keep learning! :)
Thank you for coming on here! Your horse is beautiful and I’m in the same boat. I can only afford schooling shows and do it because it’s fun!

I rode off and on as a kid but wasn’t passionate about riding and horses until I hit 30 and now I’m full on addicted.

I hope you find this forum as helpful and are not turned off by how passionate people have gotten on the Peronace subject. We just really care about our members and want to make sure no one gets misled or fleeced. I think in some respects this thread started to take on a life of it’s own but your willingness to come on has gotten us back on point and having it really be about watching out for one another. There is a gold mine of knowledge here, I hope you come back as you continue your dressage journey.

:lol::lol: Waay too young for that, I’m afraid…more like furtively scurrying through the bowels of MSG, breathlessly high-fiving my Bestie while watching Himself warm up in that hell of a warmup area among the 5-gaited horses, then using a young girl’s wiles to gain a spot on the rail…until the grumpy guy made us move:no:

That would be Blume Farm’s photo, stolen from here: http://www.blumefarm.com/images/504_dish13IMG_3122lr.jpg

I see we all posted at the same time :o
I’m no expert but I fail to see anything wrong with that photo. If that lady is smart she will never ever sell that horse. Lovely.

Bold Chance, The video you posted of the guy with the trailer is of Dom Schramm who is an event rider and good friend of Boyd Martin. Boyd posted the link on his blog site. The video was done tongue in cheek and for fun. Has nothing to do with this thread. :)
I do know that  I posted it tongue in cheek because the appy and subject content matches this thread enough to have made me think of the video  (I suppose maybe I should have clarified that! sorry!)

You call yourselfs respectful and classy?
You have done nothing but abuse this poor man yet when
he posted a picture of your bad riding, you then say it is
uncalled for?

As for myself, his students, the students in Iowa and anywhere else, will
keep working and getting positive results from his teaching.

Not only do you “classy” people bash someone you
never have worked with, but he is willing to put his money
where his mouth is and give a free clinic. But you keep
doing is talking.

Talking
Talking
Talking.
The only fakes around here are all of you!
Dear Nick/Kelly, I think it has been stated about a hundred times that the problem members of this board have with him is that he apparently fabricated his credentials in order to draw business. That’s extremely unprofessional. If you believe the picture he posted and criticized constitutes bad riding/training, I’m afraid you wouldn’t know bad riding/training if it ran you over. But then perhaps that’s why you train with him and his “method” (it makes sense now). I’m fairly certain that I can advertise a free clinic except for travel expenses to CoTHers, too! But I’m not a GP rider/trainer either, so I don’t expect anyone to take me up on it.
Not so fast. I have never made the claim he has. As for chains, used them on one horse never at canter and only two or three times.
Please do not even put me in the same category as him.
Thanks.
Well Mr. Buck, you do have several characteristics in common.
An inflated idea of your (collective) talent as “horse trainers”…

A tendency to threaten litigation.

Of course you keep trying to make millions by actually suing the AQHA,(I see you have a new lawsuit going since the ones in which you wanted millions from Parra and others and the first suit against AQHA ,were dismissed).

The fact that you think that any professional or organization is responsible for your inability to “make it” in the horse training biz, pretty much puts you in the same boat as Mr. Peronace as far as overestimating your qualifications to teach.

And there is that minor criminal history that you both have…

Thank you! I’d actually never heard of this site until a friend of mine sent me a fb message saying people were saying I had chains on Fem! Lol I had to join and clear that up

I want to echo the sentiment. Your horse is lovely, and I really appreciate your coming on here to clarify what was a clear misunderstanding about the boots. People may get into a tizzy here and there (I think most of us have) but most people really are interested in facts, truth, and learning how to be better riders/horsepeople. if you peruse the threads I think you’ll see how that philosophy tends to dominate (yes, it waxes and wanes at times, but it pretty much dictates that people be honest). Thanks again for setting the record straight on what was clearly an incorrect observation.
