Novice needs advices on naughty horse (We have a baby!)

I was just thinking…

Anna, I ache everywhere, I need to go on a diet… I need someone to look after me… can I come? lol…
I just enjoy your updates and pictures… I cannot believe how far you have come in such a short time. All the horses have big smiles on their faces…
Thank you.
I hope Peter is feeling better… nothing better than horse therapy…

Just look at that good Giva!

Anna- this filly must think she is in horse heaven. You guys are a compliment to human anture without issues or greed…why can’t more people be like you. I am glad you are part of the COTH family!

Thank you all! Thank you for happiness - without all your support we shall be not even near were we are now. And thank you, all COTHers from my happy herd!

Last few days we had so many happy moments and few disappointing ones  (Giva’s AI did not take - it is a disappointment but I will live).

But all in all it is just great like…

What a WONDERFUL day!!!
I love my husband but his riding skills would not help Guido at all, so… Guido and Giva went to trainer two days ago. Yesterday we let Guido just adjust with his new stables and rider, so today he had the second day there and a lesson.

And…

LOOK AT HIM!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq222/ozolkalni/19-06-09/PICT2268.jpg

I was standing in the field and just crying. Happy, happy, happy day!

OK, it was just 80 cm, nothing exciting, but on the second training day … Does he looks like a dog food???

And Guido enjoyed training! Yes, he is HOT, he needs gentle hands and quite hard bit, but now we know definitely that he will have a LIFE!

Happy, happy, happy day!

Both of them already had made friends in the new stable (human and equine) and seems like they enjoy every moment there.
The third horse in the pictures is son of Quick Star, so different level in comparison with ours, but it does not matter.

You’re brill! If I ever need cheering up I look up one of your threads!
Much respect

I Love Guido

 Me too!

Oh, oh. Now you’ve gone and done it… I think I see horseshows in your future!

He looks fab, BTW!

Go Fish, I too see horse shows in Guido’s future… mine… maybe as a happy owner only - girl in pictures is not me, I do not ride at all, and for problem horse Peter’s knowledge is not enough - so we got a trainer who is happy to help us and especially - help Guido.

They both look amazing! Guido’s trainer has a nice seat and nice soft hands. He looks great!

Anne, is this your Guido? With the blond lady riding? I may be speaking out of turn, but I do not like what I’m seeing in that picture.

Look in comparison to when the vet rode, the difference (so much more correct!)
http://s450.photobucket.com/albums/qq222/ozolkalni/23-05-09/?action=view&current=PICT1028.jpg

edited to add: of course they are schooling different movements, the first appears to be collecting the horse (strengthening the hind end?) and the second is working more on suppling, but regardless, the vet is riding from the leg and the first is all hand (and bit and gadget!) okay…just my own thoughts!

No, the horse in that picture is not Guido (To make things easier, Guido has all 4 white socks). It is a real hottie, another rescue, a stallion, son of Quick Star (so good blood), jumps 1.50, 1.60 easy, but has a lot of mental moments.

Guido in comparison with him is dormouse in winter

The trainer took horse who was attacking any human in the box, the stallion who refused to do anything with rider (if you look carefully, there are scars all around his head - he had been beaten up seriously) and now he is calm and partly obedient - when he is in right mode, he does clear round one after another, when he has bad hair day, he refuses even 50 cm jump without a reason. She does with him very well - last national show he was at 5th place with the trainer on his back.

Anna, I love the pictures of Peter jumping Giva! She has a look on her face that says, " Hold on Dad, I’ve got this for you!"

They look great!

Yes  , seems like Giva is not lazy, but just too careful with rider - when she jumps free, her jumps are wonderful, but with rider she prefers slow down, stop before fence and just slowly climb over it. But today she already started to go faster like she got the idea that it is OK to GO.

Peter… he is still fighting with his hands  But some jumps are bearable.

Guido, in turn, is very very keen. He is overexcited and tries his little socks out showing that he CAN work. He needs a lot of slowing down and calming speeches and praising, praising and again - praising. Today trainer used softer bite as a bonus and his responses were anyway better so he learns very quick. The girl who trains him is very sweet and soft but firm and experienced enough to move step by step and they love each other already.

And the best news for me - as today was only mental training, not jumping, Guido finished without any sweat. So riding and learning is not mentally disturbing him anymore. Also after yesterday’s quite serious exercises he had not shown any pain, was not stiff or anything - he was happy to see saddle and rider. So maybe all his problems were in head of his previous owner. It would be such a relief to know that nothing is wrong with Guido’s health.

Anna- are you planning to try and rehome any of these guys after they get some training? If so can I have Guido? Do you think he would like NY? we have green grass and all kinds of weather…heehee! You guys rock!
How is the yearling doing and Shella’s baby and of course Puika?

ivy, it is way too hard to predict possible future for Guido.

He just had started training and is doing great - but let’s see what will happen after a month of training and after 1m heights - at 1.30, maybe 1.50 cm - then he might start signs of some kind of health problems, maybe not. So far seems that he will make 1.50 cm without any problems.

See, Peter is still a very green rider so if the improvement will be not stable, they will be not good match and then we shall think about suitable rider search. If he will improve so incredibly to fit Peter, then we had purchased great show jumper for $ 200 - miracles sometimes happens

So far is only clear that he learns very, very quickly, and is very keen to work - already good news.

But miracles basically happen at fairy tales, not in real life, so let’s see. Keep fingers crossed for Guido! Maybe next month he will wear his first ribbons!

Spent all day at local showjumping event, for children and beginners (riders or horses), a bit tired of all things there, and about 200 pictures to upload

Maybe later I will put some links here so you can see how local showjumping events look like and compare with yours. Would be interesting.

Puika is just plain happy having easy life and plenty of food. I must admit we had been too busy to do serious work with him, peter just does some lunging to keep old boy happy and into the job, but honesty they both - Puika and Inka is basically watching the life go past.

Today at the show I met Inka’s last son - he is 5 yo and it was his first show. He took the third place, great, but the main thing - I had a chance to look at him in real life and I’m really happy. See, Inka’s ront legs are far from desirab;e and I was not keen consider about breeding her. But today, after I saw her last son, I’m considering about possibility to breed her - her baby is small, just 16 h, but his legs are OK, so Inka is not passing such a thing to her babies. Do we need a 16 h showjumper in future? I do not know, but at least now I know it is worth to consider it.

Sonora II and Saphire are doing great , playing with Sonora (human baby) for hours. Actually Sonora is doing all the socializing job now - foal is looking for her attention, kisses and cuddles, Saphire is asking forattention too, and mother Shella is looking after all 3 babies - Sonora asks permission, goes to pastures and returns shining after 3- 4 hours if not even more. They are building that very special relationship. Tonight Sonora announced that she does not need any human friends anymore as her best friend is her goddaughter - Sonora II. Sonora is very sensible and so is Shella - I ave that feeling that I do not need to worry at all about their games together. Sometimes I look at window to see what hey all are doing, but I feel really safe - for child as well as for foals.

If somebody wants to look at showjumping event - here - here is the link to pictures of the showjumping event for beginners on last Saturday
There are 10 pages of pictures

Is it just the photos, or is that filly REALLY big? How tall is the stallion? She looks three or four months old already!

She looks super friendly…lucky you!
