So the trainer/driver in question has been served a one year jail term for her role in this accident? Is that correct?
After that, she is posting these rants to public bulletin boards?
Not smart at all.

I ran over a squirrel last week. Not only did I feel horrible, I FELT hitting the squirrel. A squirrel.
No, I believe this person has some time to put her affairs in order and then has to report to do her one year jail term.
i ran over a small branch and felt it… no way In hell could you run over a person and not feel it! NO WAY!
Weird, sad tangent -
A family member was killed in an auto vs. pedestrian hit and run earlier this year, along with the friend with whom she was walking. A third person was injured but not killed.
The driver claimed he thought he hit a deer.
The investigators found holes through his windshield and two of the victim’s eyeglasses inside the passenger compartment of the car.
Because deer in those parts wear bifocals.
It’s apparently the excuse that first occurs to people when they run someone down.
Hell’s not hot enough, not for this so-called trainer, and not for the driver responsible for the incident described above.
McGurk, so very sorry for your loss. How awful.
Absolutely CLASSIC sociopathic response: *It’s your fault that my actions are having a negative impact on poor me."
I can always spot crazy, it usually comes with a wall of text. Why can’t the crazies use paragraphs? or punctuation?
I do hope someone sends this pathetic diatribe to Ms. Chen’s attorney.
She very likely did feel hitting someone, she just needs the story that she didn’t to provide the “facts” necessary for her defence. The more the story is told, the more she believes it. Clasic with these types, and part of gaslighting.
@McGurk how awful! I’m so sorry for your loss.
Also, in case anyone is interested, I saw this being shared around FB: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/she-killed-my-mommy-cheated-police-and-only-sentenced-one-year-county-jail.
There have been quite a few new comments added to the Malibu Times article, including yet another delightful response from Ms. Herschel highlighting her gaslighting skills. There’s also a reference to a YouTube video she’s in, and after watching it I can say it really shows off her kind and loving personality. If only more of us could achieve such a higher level of being. Anywho. . .

Do you do business with this woman? Do you know her? Were you a witness to the incident?
Then why are you posting this? It’s really none of your business. The LA Times has already published the story. You are not the LA Times (I assume).
Why raise your blood pressure and other people’s by spreading this story?
Considering the overcrowding in L.A. jails, and the quick release of certain offenders, I bet this woman does a few days in jail, and it probably won’t even interfere with her showing schedule.
Meanwhile, the victim has a rod in her leg, can barely support herself, and will never get past seeing her mother run down, and dragged out of the road.
While I appreciate your concern about our collective blood pressure, I am so confused by your post. No, I do not personally know this woman or do business with her, although an acquaintance does and did and I caught wind of the story via FB posts. Why does that matter though, and why is this “none of [my] business” if it’s public information? How is this NOT relevant to this board when it’s about a jumper trainer who has a terrible reputation yet continues to find clients?
I was burned badly by an ex-trainer, who I later learned had a looooong history of horrible behavior. I researched her online before I hired her, and guess what? Nothing came up. You are either in the know or you aren’t in this industry, and if you’re a re-rider with no horse connections in a new area, forget it. Also, regardless of how little sense it makes, many trainers seem to have some weird code protecting one another, no matter how egregious their behavior is. Couple that with the fact that this profession has no formal licensing requirements and apparently little to no accountability, you find that the customers (and more importantly the horses) get screwed often. I see no reason why this type of behavior shouldn’t be shared. This is an expensive and dangerous sport, and people deserve to know who they’re writing checks to and entrusting with their horses and lives.
@HayHay I think you make some great points.
We (horse people) need to take out our own trash.
Buyer beware only works if there is somewhere for the buyer to learn something first. You (general) are allowed to ignore all the rantings about anyone and do business with them if you want to find out for yourself. On the other side of that coin, clearly you can tell if the rantings are by someone is a few fries short of a happy meal (like the thread about the lady who is going on about George Morris ruining her riding career).
Is there a picture of the area/crosswalk anywhere? I’m curious because it sounds a lot like an incident that happened when I lived in California. Media had a field day with it going after the driver, saying he had mowed down a pedestrian in a crosswalk, but in the end not much came of it because they were in a crossING- not a crossWALK- and there were signs posted saying “CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP.” Just curious if there could be a similar thing going on here, with the charges.
This is Yijing. And I won’t hide my name.
@Nicole,listen,please don’t plea guilty because I don’t need your fake apology.
And please have your statement ready and I will wait you in the court for speaking out the truth and your filthy behaviors on public.
I had the scholarships covered my total tuition fee and you blamed my memories.
LA Times never forbid comments unless you don’t dare to.
Let me tell the public the truth:
Nicole Herschel ran over us, got off her truck and asked:“why you guys crossed the red light?” I was shocked as we waited for the green light and started walking. Then she grabbed my mother by her wrists, and dragged her from behind the wheels of the truck and dropped her on the side of the road, while my mum’s pelvis has already been crushed by the wheels for three times. Then she walked back to her truck, got in, and backed the truck up to make it appear that she did not run us over, and never came back.I never saw her until in the courthouse.
My mum and I were taken to the same hospital.Officer Parsons came and said Nicole Herschel was a witness. I screamed, “No!” She ran us over! She is a liar!" When he left, the doctor who operated on my mum came to see me.He kept saying, "It’s terrible! It’s terrible!"He never saw such severe internal bleeding. He could not stop it.
Also,my father did not die in the war,you are making up lies again and again without any guilty.
Please reverse your plea guilty statement just like you reversed your truck.
YIJING
Yijing, I am so sorry that you are going through this nightmare! What a depicable person. My deepest sympathy.
This is Yijing.
If I know this the forum,I will definitely publish what happened to me here! People has the right of speeches and why he/she cannot express his/her opinions here? Are you trying to forbid people’s rights?
Hi Yijing. I think almost everyone on this thread believes your story. No need to try and convince us. I know that I, for one, am in shock over the events. You have my deepest sympathy, which I know doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. Just know that most of us on this forum support you.
