Ah! Thanks for the explanation!
Official “intended” riding plan of the XC—hopefully a version works out for all at each obstacle.
Thanks for sharing that - I can hear Derek diGrazia’s voice in the fence descriptions. Lots of questions to be answered and positive riding required!
I read EN’s breakdown with Derek and I really appreciate how he planned the long routes. Basically, he said that instead of doing what most long routes do where you turn back on yourself a few times, it’ll just kind of arc around the outside of the complex vs the direct going straight through so the horses don’t have to kind of start and stop so much with the heat and humidity.
The order of go with ride times has been released: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/olympic-games/resOG2020-/pdf/OG2020-/EQU/OG2020-_EQU_C51(C)B_EQUOEVENINDV----------DRSS--------.pdf
Giggle. They have Ballaghmor Class listed as a stallion.
It’s really too bad Karl didn’t get to go, it was a huge gamble sending Pavarotti and frankly I can’t understand why they went ahead with it at all in the first place. Bogue I could have gotten behind.
So what time does the Eventing dressage start? Nbcolympics.com says they are streaming it at 7:30 PM EST Thursday. I’m not sure if that is live? It would be 8:30 AM Friday in Tokyo. Seems like a reasonable time to start. I went to the page with the stream and it has not asked me to sign-in or sign-up.

Just because of his age and tendons??
His age, his past performances at the higher levels and yes, his history of unsoundness although I don’t know exactly whether it was tendons or not.
OMG
after the Bromont event was essentially run, under much controversy, just to get JP qualified with Pavarotti.
hindsight is easy, but I think many Canadians are questioning the decision not to send Karl as our 2nd individual competitor
At least if Karl were to have a not great run if he did go, we would have another rider with world experience. Our depth is about as deep as a puddle and here we are now. At least Colleen will finally get the attention and coverage she deserves from EC and Canadian publications!
from JP’s facebook post:
" I’m blessed that our Canadian riders are a tight group of supportive teammates who rally around each other in our times of need. Thank you everyone for your support during this challenging time …"
I think that may be wishful thinking based on the comments from various Cdn ULRs and officials on Karl’s wife’s FB post (rant?) 3 weeks ago. There were a lot of calm, rational replies from people more “in the know” than smurfs like me, who hinted or outright stated that EC and the team selector(s?) would do whatever necessary to send JP to Tokyo.
I hope Pavarotti now gets the retirement he so richly deserves.
looks like Australia has swapped a team member for the alternate. Tinney is now alternate and McNab is in.
Gutted for Tinney.
I pretty much resigned myself to not being able to watch the XC… but it is on Hulu?!
It will be live streamed on CBC, you can use a VPN if you can’t access where you are.
