Official Tokyo Olympic Eventing Thread

Sweden actually substituted a rider for Ludwig before xc, but then she ended up not running b/c she was in the third rotation, and neither of the prior riders completed.

Thank you! That does not give me all that much longer to sleep in… but every minute helps.

The break between the team SJ final and the individual starting does seem long for a course reset, ring prep, and drag. Unless they’re presenting the team medals separately?

I saw EN bring up the lack of frangible review process at the FEI level. I don’t know what y’all do on the dark side, but I bet this year’s rule change process will be animated in view of how that played out…

I saw an article that said Jet Set blew the ligament below the pastern irreparably.

Still waiting on news about the horse who was force retired?

Have read nothing on the horse, but Brazil is subbing in their alternate.

So far the Polish horse Fantastic Frida is the only one that has been spun.

Most are accepted. I’ve registered only one of the Polish horses as not accepted. They are almost to the end. NZL is accepted.

Thanks! It was a while ago - between a great vet and her very mild personality we managed to get her pasture sound for about two/three years before complications from the initial injury forced me to make the decision to let her go… never easy :frowning:

It’s been animated for years, now. Very.

What happens is, social media erupts and carries on, then everyone goes back to life. Then there is another round after the next one. Rinse & repeat.

Do you mean the officials pulled them up on course? I don’t know of that, didn’t see it and watched entire livestream. Not aware that anyone was whistled off?

Is there a hope that anyone knows what saddle Julia Krajewski rides in? She has a long thigh bone & so do I.

The Germans are in. With a reserve in 4th spot, so they have a just-in-case scenario going for them.

Brazil - Tosi has WD Glenfly.

Inspection is done.

EN confirms my time calculations. And that individual SJ is going to be started 3 hrs 45 min after team SJ.

Will be interesting to hear the reasons for the time gap. I suppose it helps us on this side of the planet who can at least see that part without staying awake in the wee hours.

Swedish rider that fell has passed the vet, so I guess she is riding. I am glad the rules are only for Olympics and we won’t have to put up with this stuff next year at the World Championships.

The EN live tweet showed Glenfly withdrawn and then Goliath and the alternate horse Iberon Jmen accepted. I am guessing the Glenfly w/d was last minute, otherwise why would they have even presented the alternate since they don’t have three combinations left?

If you think Olympic eventing is bad, go watch the riding portion of Modern Pentathlon. :woman_facepalming:t3:

Yeah, this substitution thing is interesting strategically. Even if confusing as hell.

Whoever shows up to show jump, that’s what it is for me, at this point. I’ve lost the plot on the why’s & wherefore’s.

Seen it. Never need to see it again. THAT should be removed from Pentathlon. Just an opinion from a lover of horses. Some of them aren’t even trying to ride. Like, at all.

So I gather! But “the thing fell three strides after the jump was jumped” is a pretty good reason for animation.

I’m not educated enough to argue a position either way, but bummer.

I was wondering the same thing and figured it must have been completely last minute. The horse who stopped on course, Fuiloda G, wasn’t presented.

I hope Glenfry is okay.

I would be horrified if they brought out Fuiloda for the jog. I am with the bunch who wants to know how she is. Should her rider be sanctioned? Or at least a yellow card for whipping her when she was tottering

The only update I have found was that she was “over tired,” but that wasn’t an official statement or anything.

Whether he is carded or not, I am just glad it didn’t go any farther than it did. I can understand being caught up in the moment, especially with the finish line in sight. I was horrified to see him pop her and trot her towards the fence, but thankfully he stopped pressing the issue, probably because she smartly said no way. I hope she is okay.
