Olympics 2024

I really don’t like this format. It’s not even just the lack of drop score but how they’ve completely changed the format from the usual championship one.

United Touch S is absolutely incredible to watch. Jumps a 20 and looks like he’s cantering around a derby course. I LOVE that horse!

I was so proud of Team USA today, Laura was incredible! Even with the rail and time faults, McLain had a gorgeous round. I can’t wait to watch tomorrow and have to stay off of all social media because we’re having a group watching session at the barn after work!

Because I live with a nine year old boy and potty humor rules our house, I keep giggling to myself because one of the Austrian horses is named “Elektric Blue P”

I think its terrible that a team can put in so much time, effort, money to get to the Olympics and yet its all for nothing if one of the three gets hurt/eliminated/lame at the start of the competition. And because of a drop of blood one of the dressage riders is out and so is his team? That is no way to run a competition.

So … faults are now called penalty points?

Truly. At WEC when he did the 1.40 warmup class earlier in the week, United Touch was casually jumping above the standards because its just so effortless for him!

I immediately googled his stud fee after his round (I’ve been wanting to breed my mare to Casall). Holy. COW.

He’s fantastic, and pretty closely bred.

I’d want an out cross mare.

I see that. My mare is Balou du Rouet x Cumano, so I think we are good! Casall has been on my mind for him throwing really lovely amateur friendly hunters, as my mare is hot (but a saint).

Back on topic (sorry), I always love seeing mares in the big classes because I think it’s so special to see the relationships, especially with male riders. I’m partial, though

That’s OK. Nothing wrong with discussing the breeding of these lovely horses.

Are they only doing ICSI with him?

So, at this time, on the Olympics website, the time allowed for the team SJ course is 0.

Both Laura and Karl had faster times in the qualifier than any of the German riders. Laura, had better time than the British riders, as did Karl (but for Harry Charles who had a rail.)

I have hope!

Here on the west coast I’m embracing the replay. Too early.

I watched the team qualifier on YoutubeTV- I recorded it. I think I saw the top 15 or so teams ride, but I didn’t see any Aussie or Saudi riders and only saw Daniel for Israel. Anyone know why? Is there somewhere I can go to see all of the riders for all of the countries?

Peacock. Watching replay as I type this.

Interested to learn that United Touch is jumping barefoot!

A lot of horses that are here have composites on but usually go barefoot.

Also the amount of snaffles I’m seeing is pleasantly mind blowing.

Very last minute withdrawal from Mexico - they are still listed on the order of go in the arena. I hope nothing happened in warm up.
