Olympics 2024

Just catching up now. Gorgeous rounds from Laura and Karl. Ilex looked like he was having a blast, and that round made me realize how rare it is to see McLain with a time fault (let alone two).

Also - United Touch S is the most relaxing to watch in a round like this. He just makes it look like a 1.0m warm up class.

He is amazing! Love to watch him go!

The canter and jump are even more impressive in person. What a treat to be able to see him.

Yes they are! Saw him at WEC for the nations cup and itā€™s breathtaking.

Already planning a suitor for my 3yo

Yes agreed. I saw him at WEF last year - it wasnā€™t his best night, but in person the suspension and length to his stride is even clearer!

I was half asleep but could have sworn I saw the Brazilian rider wipe his right hand across the horseā€™s side near his leg as he was walking out of the ring. I thought it was odd, as sometimes riders pat higher up behind the saddle but this seemed different. Curious if weā€™ll find out or if it will just be called ā€œfailed inspectionā€.

Edited to add - curious why he didnā€™t use a belly band if he thought the horse would be prone to a spur rub/blood. There was definitely an eventer who used one on a grey.

The athleticism is insane. I think the choice to do 7 in the last line was a bad one on Richardā€™s part and we all gasped but that horse just popped right up there like it was nothing.

Amy rode well. Truman looked heavy, hard to tell if it was tired heavy or strong heavy though. Heā€™s not the scopiest but heā€™s usually careful. Iā€™m sure there will be an interview in the next day or so.

The woman looks like Francoise Hardy, who passed away recently

A Brazilian rider was eliminated for blood on the horses flank after his round, Pedro Veniss. Not sure if itā€™s the same guy or not.

Geez thatā€™s now one in each discipline eliminated by the blood rule!

Who was the event rider?

Also, are there current scores posted somewhere for the jumpers?

Yep, thatā€™s the one I watched.

It was a guy on the Italian team.

Italian eventer eliminated for blood in the mouth after dressage (horse bit its tongue, it seems), US dressage for blood on the leg, and Brazilian show jumper for blood on the flank. At least we know theyā€™re checking!

As a junior, McLain Ward rode in the Big EQ. Laura Kraut qualified and competed in the Big EQ as well, but neither of them won the finals.

Iā€™ve always been impressed by his equitation, Beezieā€™s as well.

Karl Cook is getting the best out of his very tricky mare. They look great. Good on him for taking the alternate role seriously and being prepared.

Iā€™m so sorry that Canada didnā€™t make the final. Mexico did though, so at least one of our neighbors is in.

McLain won the USET finals. That should count.

I was thinking Medal/Maclay, but yes he and Laura both had some good wins as juniors. Beezie was 8th in the Medal final.

Just an observation that you donā€™t have to necessarily win in the EQ to become an incredible rider. :slightly_smiling_face:

Kent Farrington won the WIHS medal final and a gold at the the NAYR.

I donā€™t think Karl Cook did the Big EQ but he won gold as an individual and on a team, in the FEI North American Youth Championships.

We have a lot of talent. Go team U.S!
