Pinto Thoroughbred Stallions

I have a C Spot Go daughter. She is out of a paint mare. She is super loud  He has thrown quite a few horses that are double registered APHA/JC. He has a pretty good color percentage. My mare is a nice mover (all of his get that I have seen are) and is athletic as can be and smart. There are videos of some of his get on youtube and he also goes by the name C Spot Run N. I am not sure if the owner is still breeding him. You can always reach her on Facebook.

Thanks, paintjumper63!

I really like what I see of him a lot. I didn’t have much luck finding any videos on youtube, though.

Still a shame he’s so far away. I think he might be my favorite I’ve found so far.

7mile Ranch has some videos of his get.

Jorge - the purveyor of all things regarding coloured thoroughbreds has passed on

I had no idea Jorge had passed on. Such a shame - he was so passionate about the coloured TB’s for sure … :frowning:

I have always been such a huge fan of C Spot Go as well and wished he was closer to breed a mare to him

Some great suggestions coming forward for you for sure!

I wish Bold Phantom Go was still alive. I think he may have fit perfectly what you were looking for!

Will go back through my notes later on and see what other possibilities there might be that no one has put forward yet …

OK, I love the look of those two! Puchilingui himself… not so much. That’s what I think of when I think DW TBs-- not so much white as just a lot of crazy roaning. Clearly I have not seen all that many of them![/QUOTE]

Colored Sunset was killed last winter in a barn fire!! Puchi’s Trap is a mare.

I’m so sorry to hear about Colored Sunset, that’s awful.

I saw Puchi’s Trap was a mare. I’m pretty certain JB was just showing examples of DWs that didn’t have that crop out/roany look that I said I disliked.

As someone noted, we, crosscreeksporthorses, bred painted TB’s of quality for many years. We lost our beloved and fabulous producing stallion, Puchi’s Rambo to a freak pasture accident when he slipped and hit his head on the root of the only tree in a two acre paddock. He left us with Jagged Illusion, a black based painted TB, lost the year his only foal was born (we only breed our own small number of mares) she is a very loud 3/4 TB, 1/4 Irish Sport Horse) to a feed company “F-up” when they decided it was more economical to use corn gluten to replace grain in their horse feed! He died a horrible death due to sulphur poisoning!! Years later we bought Challenged, Unbridled Song x o/o N AP Indy mare and bred 4 LOUD Rambo mares. We got spectacular foals with chrome, but not only one “spot”!!! Due to our age and relocation farther south (too darn cold in Ok) we are selling Challenged. Sale pending to a breeder in West Va. He is “very” sabino, but the Rambo mares are DW #5 (according to JB) and the cross didn’t give us the color we aimed for. We do have a spectacular stud colt…mature over 17 hands with chrome and a shoulder patch who we will probably hang on to for future breeding purposes. Breeding for painted TB’s is a very nerve wracking road to travel!!

I was going to ask if you ever sold Challenged. He is quite nice, despite not producing color. I hope he gets a good home and best of luck on your relocation!

After all of this, I’m really questioning if I have the nerve to foray into the color world at this time with this mare. I think C Spot Run has ruined me, since I actually like him for her yet he’s too dang far! More than likely, I’ll probably just send her back to the same (nearly solid) stallion she went to this year, provided he doesn’t leave the farm:

He was an unconventional choice to begin with, but he just “wowed” me as an individual in a way few others ever have. I was broken hearted when she came up not in foal!

Texarkana-Well too bad you won’t go to Montana for Cesar (C Spot Go/C Spot RunN). He is a looker for sure:)

I keep screwing up his name, sorry! I can’t remember two names, haha!

Well… I’m still tempted to road trip, but oh my gosh, that’s a far drive! My farrier drove two mares out to Wyoming this year to be bred. I told him he was insane. Now I’m ready to ask him for a ride!

well, if you are going to that farm why don’t you try Get Stormy? He has a bit of bling. I know almost nothing about TB lines though… so just warning you.

How terrible about Colored Sunset :frowning: :frowning: And yes, they were merely examples of how “normal” the DW pattern can be, not all are wild and splotchy

That’s actually some impressive white for a black-base. It’s not terribly surprising though, given Storm Cat on top and Northern Dancer on the bottom. I recognized many of the stallions there as being great performers and good to great sires, but I don’t know the mares to know if they helped or hindered the bigger names.

I was surprised to see that too with his base color. I pulled him up after just scanning the page just make sure he wasn’t liver. Nice looking dude.

I recognized the same names but they are so well known and I had NO clue about the rest LOL

We were discussing him earlier. He’s always one of my top choices, but I am always swayed from him due to him not having any horses of racing age on the ground yet and his weak female family. I love him, but for that price, I either want to know what his kids do at the track or have the deck stacked with pedigree. Plus, in person, despite his amazing accolades as a race horse himself, 2 years out of training and he looks more like some kids’s overgrown pony hunter than a race horse!

I love him. But…

For the record, too, I haven’t seen any blingy foals or yearlings by him in his first two crops. There may be some, I just haven’t seen them. He’s been quite popular in his first 2 seasons, but a lot of his foals were born out of state.

As for producing chrome - probably not going to happen a lot when bred to “regular” mares. Given that most mares (and TBs in general) are rather plain, it’s more likely he’d produce far less white than himself, especially on the black-based foals. I do think the odds of more white with a more chromed chestnut mare is fairly high, especially if the foal is also chestnut. Not that I’m pushing for him, just more thoughts on chrome production.

For the record, his female family is exceptionally weak. Stallions who are brilliant individuals who crop up out of nowhere from poor producing female families frequently fail as sires. Hence my hesitation. Judging by the size of his book the past two years, no one else shares my hesitation.
