Ponies of the 80's and early 90's

Turtle Express(AKA-Lands End Dinner Guest) would be 17 now.
Yes, he was a large bay. He was a half brother to the great medium, Shining Moment. Remember that one?
I just bought their little sister.

Silver Bullet–Avery Dimmig and then the Pertles (sp?)
Pillow Talk–Julia Matheson at the end, but I’m sure many more before that.

I had Fancy Star from about 83 till the fall of 86 and then she went to Andrew Lustig in Florida. I heard from him last year and he said Fancy had foundered and he put her to sleep.

Yup, I showed Worley for Kennedy Prentiss. Kennedy was still “new” to the sport when they bought the pony, so I was able to show her in Indio.

Speaking of Jimbo Chaplin, who were all of Toulouse’s riders?

I was also told that Ice Castle had been remeasured as a large pony.

Just FYI. I am not saying this is true, but it is a widespread idea.

Interesting, because according to USA Equestrian the pony is 13.2.

Turtle Express is showing in the Children’s Ponies with Gracie Cook (Ali’s little sister).

Strike it Rich was also owned by Georgeana Moroton who rode with Scott Kemory
Abbie Sullivan and Caitlin Venezia had Brownland’s Third Light
Buttons N Bows is still around. She was walking around Tampa at 26 years old. The small pony Slumber Party (formerly Bow Tie) is her son.
Buzz Light Year is Snow Goose’s son
Can anyone name all of Espresso’s riders?

Espresso- the Savinos, Elizabeth Lynch, Jodi Einhorn, Georgina Bloomberg, … Dominique Mungin. (I’m missing the ones between Jodi and Dominique. Ashley someone, I think, is one)

yeah, just another note…picturesque was showing in virginia for a year or so with a girl named ali borissoff. (after liza rode her). that would be about 9 years ago.

C. Boylen – I know your Bugle Boy! He came to Stoneridge Farm in Great Falls, VA 5 or 6 years ago with a bad rearing problem. That got resolved pretty quickly, and then he was doing lessons with beginner kids until one of them bought him and showed him locally. They were a good match and she loved him, but he developed a persistent front lameness problem + then she outgrew him. I’m not sure, but I think a few years ago he went off somewhere to be turned out.

Hosanna is my friend’s pony - she is retired now. She was owned and shown by Susie Fried, then Alyssa Froman bought her, and they still have her. The last to show her was Keri Guanciale.

Change of Heart was also ridden by Maggie Jayne

Whoops - I meant Megan Braid! See what long days at work can do?

Oh my lord–I just read this whole thing in one sitting. And it has made me laugh & remember!! I’ll add what I can:

Touch Me Too-showed around IL in 1996 with Hilary Gentry. I know that Sarah Guski sometime showed her too. Didn’t Emily Williams have at one point before that?

Change of Heart-isn’t that who Kelley Farmer rode when she won the pony medal finals in 1989?

McGregor-Nicole McKay in the mid-late 80’s

Casey Jones-Dana Bramall (?sp)

Hillcrest Better Than Blue-I was told started out in IL/WI area as Hillcrest Beri (or something like that) before being sold & name changed. Actually I saw a lot of the Hillcrest ponies start out since the Hillcrest farm is just over in WI & then it was fun to see how “famous” they became.

Desire-Laura Gorman leased to Kelly Cunningham in 1989 & she went to pony finals & finished 3rd in the pony medal.

Glenmore Pinky-just saw last weekend at a show. Trucking around the SS with the youngest Sassmanhausen. In early 20’s I think they said. They live in IL, not Ohio.

Gayfield’s Blue Nile-Chelsea Noble

Chanel-Alex Jayne had in the early 1990’s & she had the foal Alexander’s Coco which is now cruising around the pony jumpers with a Sassmanhausen riding.

what ever happened to Code of Ethics? Chestnut large with a blaze and some socks if i’m remembering correctly. came to an old friend with the name of Cody, but changed it to Pody since there was another Cody in the barn
