The starter had a hold of BE because he was being an A** in the gate & John was slammed up against the side, didn’t even have both feet in the irons.
Obviously they weren’t expecting the starter to open the gates at that moment.
I think the starter was paying more attention to Improbable & his antics & missed BE’s

I was rooting for ANY horse other than him.

You can’t put 100,000 people in a building with no flushing toilets. It won’t pass inspection for next year unless they replumb the whole building, and that’s not going to happen. There were big problems towards the end of the day yesterday, and today there were NO womens bathrooms open and most of the mens bathrooms had issues too.

If that horse weren’t incredibly athletic, we’d have had a 19-horse pile-up in the homestretch of the Derby two weeks ago. And somehow that warrants a grudge against him and his connections?

Well, that may be. She just looked so totally disinterested. Not that she should have been jumping and leaping around like those in the infield… I dunno, I just think she would have been a bit happier about the win. And speaking of the infield, holy moly, can someone please explain to me why an adult wants their picture taken while they are sticking out their tongue and behaving like little children???

Palm Beach: I read somewhere that the contract has been signed for next year. Now, if the grandstand collapses before that, they won’t hold it there.

She wasn’t disinterested - just the opposite. Her body language told me that she had *** many things to say *** about the Derby trip — which is the first thing they brought up after her horse gets a good clean win. She was biting her tongue hard, as it were. As soon as they stopped talking about the Derby she relaxed and smiled.
I thought that the wife was probably thinking what I was thinking while the interviewer was pounding on about the Derby, and it was the last thing she & her husband both wanted to think about in the moment of victory. IMO the interference in the Derby stopped War of Will from running his race, a race he was very ready to run. IMO he was the primary victim, and not the horse who came under the wire second. War of Will was coming forward and running strong, and who knows how well he might have done had the swerve not happened.
I don’t expect people who aren’t television and performance professionals to have all the perfect facial expressions and interview techniques on hand.

It’s a state law that the Preakness has to be held at Pimlico except in an emergency. No contract involved. But if the plumbing doesn’t work, the building will get condemned or something. They won’t be allowed to hold it at Pimlico and it will have to be held at Laurel. The plumbing there has been an issue for years, and it’s reliably showing that it does not hold up to big race days. The last few times I went to Preakness I had to go out into the barn area and use the womens bathrooms there.
I was just about to ask if anyone else saw that, in both of those situations. I saw a lot of steps on the back legs that didn’t look good. But I didn’t know if I was judging too closely, horse just won a big race, went through all the winner’s circle folderol, and was walking around on varying surfaces from grass to dirt to whatever. I wondered, though.
In every other way I thought War of Will looked like a very classy, quality, look of eagles horse. Grand looking horse, will now be a fan. 
Awesome win, WoW! On the other hand, his stud fee probably just went up. Rats. I wouldn’t mind a dressage horse by him. What a looker!

If the state vets think he looked off after the race, they can put him on the vets list, and he has to get off it before he runs again. I think they normally have 3-4 stationed around the track, and this year MD added 4 additional vets for the Preakness. Lots of eyeballs on those horses today.
But I think he’d have to look pretty questionable to put him on the vets list - you usually have to work in front of the vet, they pull blood, and the test has to come back clean before you are allowed to race again.
Before the Race I was really admiring his butt.

Well, there is truth to that. I certainly was not expecting an Oscar winning speech. I just thought she may have shown some joy rather that looking away with a blank expression. No matter, I it’s just my personal opinion that a winner should show some happiness.!
