Pregnant riders support group? :)

and, another new one, the itchy tummy (even though I have been moisturizing religiously with BioOil on a friend’s recommendation). [/QUOTE]

About my 3rd trimester, I developed a PUPP rash (or however you spell it) and I could not find any relief at all. Itchy raised bumps all along my tummy and down my legs. It disappeared directly after giving birth as my Dr said it would.

Yep. I bought one dress and a few shirts and just rotated between those in addition to some clothes a friend of mine loaned me. I wore yoga pants one size too big (for me normally) for the last 6 weeks.

I looked about 6 months pregnant in the belly when I left the hospital, but I was so swollen from lots of fluids and drugs that the rest of my body was much bigger than when I was at 6 months along. So I think ultimately I was larger than I was when I was admitted to give birth. I felt like a marshmallow. My feet and cankles were huge. The only shoes I had that I could fit into we’re my Crocs. and even those were super tight. Keep in mind we are all different with different birth stories so it does vary by person.

I was not down to five months pregnant size the next day. A significant volume of belly goes away, but a significant amount of boob stayed present, plus I was feeling pretty puffy/bloated too. I had a home birth, and pretty much stuck to my favourite pairs of PJ pants from the third trimester for about a week, and the v necked t shirts from the same time. For breastfeeding access.

I was totally OK with things finally being slightly loose, but clothing fit was not high on my list of priorities before or after birth. I respect the mamas who do their hair and wear makeup out of the hospital, but that just isn’t my deal.

I read about this! Nice to hear I am not the only one. I have been using regular Aveno lotion and letting my tummy air out and that seems to be helping. I rolled up my shirt yesterday as I was grooming/hosing off my horse after my lesson when I thought no one would ride by on the trail. Ooops. Got a really strange look from a girl riding by…

This. I bought one black dress that I plan to use if I have any meetings at work. Otherwise I am thinking the yoga thing sounds good.

Ugh, that sounds pretty miserable. I bet you are glad to be past that part. I knew the 5 month thing sounded too good to be true. It was even on a hospital handout. They can encourage optimism, but come on.

I agree. After my terrible morning sickness where I once threw up on myself in the car on the way to the barn, cleaned myself up as best I could, and proceeded to my lesson where I vaguely smelled of barf the whole time in spite of my clean up attempt, I think I found out what type of super pregnant lady/new mom I will be. And it’s not the type who puts on makeup to go to the hospital. More power to those who do, you’ll definitely have better pictures than I will.

I used coconut oil for itches and stretch marks, it worked great for itches, not so great for stretch marks

My stomach definitely shrank afterwards, it’s hard to say how much because now it’s a flabby soft tummy instead of a round hard baby tummy… That part kinda sucked, but overall it was amazing to me how immediately not pregnant you feel lol

I just bumped your thread on Off Topic wondering if she came yet. Congratulations! If you’re breastfeeding you will drop the weight in no time! I think we need some pictures of the little sweetie!!!

The squishy belly after delivery was a bit difficult for me to deal with with DS#1. But it does go away quickly. I breastfed him and had pretty well lost all the baby weight in 3 months (I had gained 65#), and by 9 mo post party’s was about 10# lighter than when I got preggo. Stopped nursing at 1 year and immediately got preggo again and started gaining it all back

it will be interesting to see what happens to all of this belly after baby is born…currently, I am ALL belly, so all I can think of is that it will be like deflated balloon for a while…um, yay?

Anyone else finding themselves jumping in meetings/at dinner when a tiny little foot all of the sudden gets them in the ribs? this happened to me last night at a meal with my in-laws…I was sitting, politely, listening to a story, when suddenly i nearly had to jump out of my seat after a very well aimed internal kick to the right ribs… it was hilarious:)

That is hilarious!!!

I am HALF WAY!!! 20 weeks this week!!! I have definitely felt movement/kicks, but nothing consistent yet… Can’t wait for my ultrasound this week.

I bought a pair of maternity jeans this past weekend. After my belly band situation the prior weekend I was just not going to let that happen again. (Almost lost my pants in the grocery store) I am pleased to report that the maternity jeans are the MOST COMFORTABLE JEANS EVER!!! They are made by Jessica Simpson’s maternity line. I did find the maternity store a bit overwhelming. I just left with one pair of jeans because I couldn’t handle looking at much else. I still fit in most of my cotton shirts (they are just tight in the belly), but I really needed to fix the pant/bottom situation. I wore the maternity jeans all day Sunday running errands and I couldn’t of been happier with my purchase. Highly recommend getting a pair. Now hopefully I will be good for awhile and not have to purchase more… I hate spending money on clothes I am just going to wear for a few months…

Yes, this happens to me routinely at work. It’s mostly awkward in meetings!

So I’ve lost track, who is due coming up this month and next? We need a list of due dates or something lol! Hope you new mamas (or mamas with new babies!) are all doing well!! I’m halfway there, due Feb 28.

She’s Pure Gold, I’m due just before you on February 19th. Am hoping for somewhere between the 14th and 29th as I would rather bubs’ birthday wasn’t either of those days!

Haha. I’m right there with you! I keep joking that if I go into labor late the 28th or anytime the 29th I’m crossing my legs until March 1st! DH, however, thinks it would be really ‘neat’ to have the baby born on the 29th and is actually hoping for it. Ugh! Oh well, he’ll come when he comes I guess

I’m due April 7!

Also - ladies - to anyone who’s been postponing getting maternity pants - its not worth waiting!

My regular pants have been getting uncomfortable to sit in all day at the office. After yesterday and having the outline of my belt imprinted into my tummy by lunchtime, I decided to just head to the mall and start trying things on. WOW what a difference it is! I feel like I’m wearing yoga pants at the waistband with dress pants below. So comfy!

I am due Feb. 9! I seriously hope the 29th is not an issue, I hadn’t even thought of that. I have definitely thought of the 14th though. I know a handful of people with that birthday and they all said it’s terrible, so I will also be closing my legs if that happens. A lot of people have told me first-timers are a week or so late, so I’m thinking the 16th would be just fine. But he has been measuring maybe 3 days ahead of schedule, so Feb. 6 works too. DH’s birthday is Jan 29 and MIL is Jan 31, so would be nice to avoid those too. I have told the baby to stick with the plan and we can do anytime between the 5th and 9th. Best laid plans…

On another note, anyone who is still riding notice that you suddenly have no stomach muscles to do sitting trot? Yesterday during a group lesson trainer said to sit trot and then told me she knows I can’t sit and I was like I can’t? And then I tried and it just felt like my stomach muscles were gone, which is odd because I’ve been doing my dressage, sitting deep and whatnot. So strange.

I’m impressed that you’re 2 weeks ahead of me and still trotting, period! I know others rode for a while, but I’ve basically given up. I’m not very big yet, but I just started getting too uncomfortable around 17-18 weeks. Not necessarily painful, but just not comfortable, especially at the trot. I think a big factor in my case was that during the week, I’d come home and eat dinner and then try to go ride and riding on a full stomach was just no good. But riding before eating wasn’t an option because I’d come home from work starving! So at that point, I just figured forget it, we’ll go on some walking trail rides on the weekends for as long as I can and it is what it is.

I’m due December 15, so winding down over here- I can’t wait to be back in the saddle early next year.
There are folks on this board who rode well into their third trimester- good for them, but I can’t imagine it! It’s hard enough for me to get in and out of bed:)

She’s Pure Gold and KateR - I am with you ladies as well!!! I am due March 1st. I told the doctor if I go into labor on the 29th to do what ever she has to do to slow it down

Well I had my 20 week ultra sound yesterday… I swear doctors just like to freak you out. There is a very small calcium deposit on my baby boys heart. The doctor that scanned me said it was something to absolutely not to worry about. She said both of her kids have the same thing and are completely fine. If it is absolutely something not to worry about, why would you tell me then and make me worry… lol

The other thing they brought up yesterday was that I have a low PAPP-A level. Everything measured perfectly normal yesterday at 20 weeks. I have had normal harmony test which gives me a 1 in 10000 chance of having a baby with downs and my sequential testing put me in low risk. Because of this low level I get the pleasure of having an ultrasound every 4 weeks from now on to measure growth, which in my opinion is exciting. Of course I started doing research and looking a what else a low PAPP-A level means and it scared the crap out of me… My OB is going to get an ear full next week at my appointment - not in a bad way, but questioning everything I read. I also read that people with low PAPP-A levels had perfectly healthy babies… I really think after all I read they don’t know what the low level means… Anyone else have a low level PAPP-A?

I’m 15 weeks and I have a show next weekend - thankfully only 1 day as our whole division is on the 25th. That will probably be my last day jumping as I’ll be at almost 17 weeks at that point. I actually managed to do some no stirrups posting trot last weekend though! I don’t know why I even bothered - I think I was having a “must prove I can still do this” moment. It only lasted for one lap and I was too tired to try to repeat in the other direction

7 more weeks to go for me.

Anyone planning on doing cloth diapering? I’ve been on What to Expect forums a bit lately and reading about it and it seems like such trouble, especially when you are out and about or on vacation. I don’t think I want to keep a pooped up diaper in my bag while I walk around the mall or zoo.

I never minded cleaning horse poop but having to scrape poop out of the cloth diaper, then rinse it out and do wash constantly seems like more trouble than its worth. My eco-friends are all about it. Maybe I have the wrong idea??
