PSA: Parlanti-esque TuffRider Sport Dress boots on sale at Dover for $99

Mine arrived last night. The pair I ordered for myself won’t be tall enough after they drop, so they’re going back. But I ordered a pair for my daughter as well, and while their a bit roomy and tall, I think they may work for her. She’s only ten and growing all the time. While they’re probably about an inch too loose for her, they don’t look bad at all.

Mine came in yesterday. Even though I went up a half size in my foot, they still seem small. Anyone has experience in this? Do they stretch much? Should I try the water trick or just return them and get a bigger size foot?

Mine have stretched a little bit in the foot. Not a ton, but enough that they’re comfortable to ride/do chores in for a few hours without feeling tight like they did at first.

Interested in knowing if anyone else has an issue with them unzipping while you ride. I personally like them- they’re fantastic to school around in an look nice. But as I was riding today- they were slowly unzipping and I had to zip up like 3 times. I do have a bigger calf, and they’re brand new. Anyway to stop this from happening?

Mine are now backordered until mid april, originally was told beginning of march :frowning: I was a bit annoyed b/c I never received an email to tell me, I emailed them to get shipping updated

My DD’s Parlantis have a huge hole in the calf, so I need to get her something to wear while I have those repaired. Do you think these are fine for schooling and the possible show?

Other than $ 100 - what’s the difference between these and the Tuffrider Wellesley dress boots, does anyone know?

TIA!!

The Welleseys don’t have the elastic panel in the front of your shin. I also found the foot to be slightly wider and the sole more well made.

With these, you absolutely have to use the zipper keeper at the top. I have bigger calves, too and mine stay zipped just fine if I use it, but if I don’t, they unzip themselves. I think it is the pull of the elastic that causes it.

Just tried mine on today! Got them in the mail yesterday but I wasn’t here to accept the package.

I’m pretty happy with them, they are not parlantis but they look reasonably nice! They look like they will hold up at least as well as my paddock boots do, I’m hard on my boots. The foot is a littttle small in the toe but I feel like the foot bed will soften while I wear them so I’m not going to return them. The only thing I don’t like is that the toe looks a little too rounded for my taste but over all, not bad!

The “parwanties” are a great schooling back up option while you get the repairs done. My DD gets more positive comments on these than her real ones.

I would recommend doing this. I have 15.5 inch calves, but I am not encountering the zipper problem. I do think it looks neater within the zipper keeper, though… if that’s your thing as well as it being functional. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did find that the little heel “helper” guard gets squished down when I walk, making it jab worse into my heel other than really protecting it from the zipper like I think it was intended to.

Super comfy footbed and very grippy though, I do like them for the small amount of $$ they cost!

Same here. The toes are a little snug. Will try them on a few more times before deciding whether to exchange them.

Unless anyone has a pair of 8s they’d like to trade for my 7 1/2s. PM me.

I should have paid more attention to the description before buying. I was surprised by the elastic down the front. It does make them comfy though. Overall I’m pretty happy with them for the price.

don’t buy these, they stretch out WAY too easily.

I’m really disappointed that these have the elastic panel in front (that is not described online)… the whole reason I purchased them was for a new boot that would fit my knee issue not to have a seam rubbing on my injury

I stand by that I liked the regular field boot style… I will have to get those another time.

$99 schooling boot a la half chaps and paddocks. That it…perfect for basic needs. Not. The next best thing since sliced bread -_-

The same thing happened to me. My size was listed as backordered so before I ordered I called to ask how long the backorder was, was told end of March. So I ordered and a while later I noticed the hold on my paypal account had been lifted so I called again and was told they were backordered until mid-April now. Then about a week later I got a call from Dover saying they no longer have my size and my order was cancelled, but I was welcome to order a different size.

Curious which model these are - the earlier link no longer works - but I will likely stalk them for Fall when my daughter will need tall boots for IEA shows (she’s in jods/garters for another year in rated shows).

If someone can post the name of the model or a regular (non-special offer) link that would be helpful, thanks!

Bumping this thread up because they are back on sale for $99.

Is everyone still satisfied with their boots?

I have both parlantis and the tuff rider! Both are beautiful boots, I use the tuff rider ones for everyday use and parlantis for showing. They really do look like parlantis, and for $99 that’s a steal! The only problem I have had with the tuff riders is because of the price, they don’t hold up too well to heavy riding, but they are still a great deal and I totally recommend!!
