i know of one named peanuts and beer. it’s really funny at shows you hear and in 1st place is so and so on peanuts and beer!!
Seen Puddin Head on AQHA papers before… I think he’s a TB though
My son has a really cute 14h gelding whose name somehow suits him: Little Laker Lena.
I was oddly relieved when we bought him that he didn’t have an “ugly” registered name.
Well our ottbs have some funny names.
Callie was registered as “Kick and Howl” neither name being in her lineage. I presume my great smart mare was a fractious filly.
And Hattie, Hat Trick my ATA mare, had a sire registered as “Impressionist.” Since she’s short and round, the QH people here think she is by lineage, yes “Impressive.” She can pass for a halter horse till she shows her gaits.
Lots of strange names for lots of horses as well as dogs and cats.
I owned a show siamese whose sire was “Purr San Ce’s Mr. Lucky of DiNapoli” a Marge Naples bred cat. And my ausssies came from Las Rocosa who had dogs named “Hud” (my 2nd assize’s sire) and “Just in Case of Las Rocosa.”
So I don’t complain about QH names. With the TBs and WBs and dogs and cats I have owned, I never diss others. BTW I had a siamese cat that I named Wolfgang, but my father wanted to name after an American Poet who expatriated to Japan. So “Wolfie” for his 18 years of life was “Wolfgang Lafecadio Wall” after Lafecadio Hearn.
We briefly owned a cute grey QH named Wild Bobby Brown. Didn’t know that was his registered name till later. It certainly explained why he wasn’t a kid’s low level hunter. The worst registered name we had was an OTTB, though. Lovely bloodlines, great named sire & dam and he ended up as Turf Tiff.
My friend has an appendix QH named “The Pink Jungle Cat”, who is sired by “The Pink Pussycat”.
There is another horse in my area who goes to Open Shows and is named “One Hot Mess”.
Hi!! I was looking for a horse that I rode and trained several years ago and I think your friend must own him. He is Pink Jungle Cat. We knew him as Gage. Definitely not a name you’d ever forget! I’d love to see what he’s doing now!!
I’ve shown some doozy’s.
Ima Trashy Girl
Little Ontha Trashyside
Being two of my faves.
I have a yearling names Peptos Side Chic and a 2 year old named Whizkeybent Hell Bound.
Honor roll (thoroughbred) but it sounded more like On a Roll.
Hilarious!
There used to be a Paint horse that I’d see occasionally at local shows named Oopsmyzippersdown. He had some kind of prefix, too, but I can’t remember exactly what it was.

Hi! I think we are talking about 2 different horses, because my friend’s horse was a female, not a male. The sire was stood by Circle K ranch in NC. The mare lived in NC as well.
Unfortunately, this Pink Pussycat was put down at about 7 years old. She tried to jump the pasture fence and didn’t make it, degloving her front or hind legs as I recall. Top, top of the line vet care with the vet techs coming out to change the bandages and dress the wounds, but she had massive cellulitis and the wounds did not heal well and the bones were exposed. It was such a hard call but they together opted for euthanasia.
I know this Pink Jungle Cat was never known as Gage and I’m sure he must still be out there! I hope he had a better fate than this Pink Jungle Cat.
mine’s named Ima Magic Tootsie Pop <3
Bunny Bid, won the All American Futurity, AQHA biggest race at that time.
Oh no!! BUT, I remember her as well!! I can’t remember her barn name tho. I’m sorry to hear about her being put down. I worked at Circle K for a couple of years. The stud was also put down just a few years ago. I forget why tho. Darn tho…I’ve been trying to find him! He had some crazy name too tho!!
Oh My! You totally understand the whole situation! I don’t remember her barn name but she was kept in the stall behind the tack room. This was when Claire was running the barn. She was sold to my friend who showed her on the local circuit and we showed together (my Sir SpooksAlot needed lots of exposure that I didn’t want on his dressage show record - he was a bit of a basket case). It was really sad when the Pink Jungle Cat (verified her name) had to be put down, because she had the best care imaginable. I said at the time that if I have to come back after death as an animal, I’d want to be one of Beth’s animals.
If you worked at Circle K during The Pink Pussycat’s time, you probably saw me and my horse, Sir SpooksAlot at the Circle K shows. My horse was the horse who went in a dressage saddle (I rewrote the rules for United Horseman’s shows) and earned his nickname quite well at Circle K shows! Sometimes he could go around the whole arena. Other times he couldn’t go near a part of it. The peeps at Circle K worked with me and became the reason I could accept a ribbon on horseback.
The stud’s name was “The Pink Pussycat”. He was pretty gorgeous!

The Pink Pussycat had some really cool offspring, given the ones that I saw!
Um… Spooks Gotta Whiz, anyone?
My appendix mare is registered Purdy Fine.
I say things are “fine” when basically I am unimpressed but not upset. “No, it’s fine.”
I feel giggled when I saw Heavenly Masterpiece because clearly that owner has more ambitions than my the breeder who was OK with just “Fine” lol
