Report Site Glitches here!

@Moderator 1

Intermittent pokiness continues.

The error popup happens occasionally on back arrow - Error information: 0 error.

Part of me knows that at this point, we are in a holding pattern :yes:

My “My Recent Posts” area doesn’t appear to be functioning properly. The settings are chosen to display the threads in order or the latest updates, but it does not. It also doesn’t always indicate threads with bold text when there’s new posts.

The pages format a time or three has been basic just the print lines showing, not the finished ones with markings and other features.

Also yesterday on and off pages changed sluggishly, a bit better today but not always up to former speed.

I know, no time now for tweaking much, just giving notice where things may need to be checked out to keep working.

seeing this also, appears to be a new wrinkle that started about ten days ago… which is very odd to have a software program that has been in use for a while to decide to go off in another direction

Somebody obviously marked my post as spam… anything I can do about it?? Thank you!

Nobody but the system randomly deciding marked your post. If it’s a long one I didn’t copy, I usually send PM to Mod1 and s/he will be able to get it approved.

Thank you!! I just copied it and posted it again, and it worked. so now there is this unapproved post still in the thread, But I guess nobody but me can see it anyhow…

Right, only you can see it, and unless you ask to have it released from jail, I don’t think mods go check any of that, so it’s unlikely you’ll end up with a duplicate post

Actually, we do go through and approve posts that are from real users, and it’s very likely you’ll end up with a duplicate if you post again. You can delete your own post that’s waiting to be approved though if you’ve gotten another copy of it to go through, so you don’t end up with a duplicate.

Thanks!

oh good to know! I didn’t think that happened because I gave up several times with some of mine (that I didn’t PM about) and never saw them appear :slight_smile:

I just posted an answer in a current events thread, and my avatar picture is showing with another COTH member’s name on the main forums’ page. All is fine inside the thread itself. Just wanted to point it out.

This particular problem/situation has been happening for … well… a long time.

OK. I don’t write often and I did not know.

Thank you, to you and the rest of the peeps at COTH, for not only making this playground a nice place to be but making sure that the history is preserved! I’ve been around for…geez…nearly 20 years now (:eek: :eek:) and there’s a good portion of my life with horses cataloged around here. Sometimes I’ll search for old posts if I can’t quite recall when something happened or some little detail. Sometimes it’s looking back because I know someone else posted some great info about a new issue I’m having. We have such an amazing resource here, and I just really appreciate that you all are careful to preserve it :D:D

Absolutely! I always have to chuckle when I’m personally doing general research on a question online and it brings me back here where I get such helpful input from a range of horse people.

We’re going to be ready for Beta testing by users on the new site next week, I anticipate. I’m just able to get my mitts onto it now, so I want to give them some feedback on some obvious stuff before we unleash the real user beta testers!

Thanks all. BTW, I’m seeing an obvious option to Mute specific users, which means you won’t receive notifications if they quote or mention you, and they can’t PM you. You would still be able to see their posts though. Individual users also have a lot of control to Mute entire Forums or specific threads.

Some of the Navigation, display and other tools are definitely very different than what we’re used to, but I think it will work really well for each user customizing their experience with the site once we get familiarized.

Scared (I hate change)! But looking forward to it too.

Please thank everyone that is working hard to make this happen for us.

I can’t wait! One function of Mute/Ignore I really want is the ability to just not SEE their posts. I don’t care if they see mine (but that’s nice too, creepers…) but the whole reason I (rarely) used Ignore in the past was to not see the ridiculousness of a few people.

Thanks for keeping us up to date @Moderator 1 . I will no doubt be asking questions about the new format due to my poor computer/internet skills but I know we’ll all get used to the new version in good time.

@JB Didn’t the old ignore feature only keep us from seeing the ignoree’s posts unless they were quoted? Those of us who don’t venture onto the off topic forum have less of a need for the ignore feature, though I do remember having one person “ignored” due to their rudeness on every forum they visited.

Other than politics and other off topic subjects, which are not the reason I am here, I’m usually OK with hearing everyone’s opinion. There are certainly exceptions though and for some threads, the feature will make them readable when otherwise they are just too exhausting to read.

I sympathize with you. You do seem to have a weirdo or two that follow you around and are hostile to you for no apparent reason.:yes:

Correct, we couldn’t see the original comment/post, but could see if it was quoted.

:lol::lol::lol:

It was the very, very rare poster who I put on Ignore. Really rare. But it made life so much nicer LOL

The old HGS Forum had an ignore feature that made people vanish from your world, which while great for the blood pressure did lead to some interesting threads. It meant that if someone quoted a person you were ignoring, there was no trace of the quote, led to some strange twists and turns for no reason that you could see.:lol:
