I am not one to intentionally put a marriage in jeopardy, but how do you know we live far apart??
Somehow, I thought you were in the midwest part of the USā¦ better not tell me I am wrong as I do love my DHā¦ but if you are close and just happen to drop Calliby off here, well then itās a rescue and fate, right?!
I am. I am guessing you are either on the West or East coast? Marriage savedā¦
East Coast. whew
Didnāt get the chicken wire around the pen fast enough and lost Jenny yesterday afternoon
I scoured the loft, moved and looked under bales, gaps between bales and stacked boards and under every space I could find. I finally gave up put up the chicken wire and left out a box near the food and water I have out for Silo and hoped she would come out if she was still in there at all.
I also gave a quick look below the loft where the goats reside in case she fell through a small hole I found behind a support beam. Didnāt see anything along the wall down there.
I came up to check later and didnāt see anything but I swear I could hear a kitten but it sounded far away like she was in the bales up high. I doubted that but looked as best as I could with no luck. Then a thought came into my head to check the goats barn below again.
I found her at the very back in a corner. The first time I didnāt look in the very back stall, just along the wall. I scooped her up kissing her and thanked the Lord for once again answering my pleas to find these kittens.
This morning I no sooner opened the door then they all rushed out going in different directions. running, climbing and me following and scooping them all back up and trying to get the pen closed so I could do food, water and litterā¦
I swear I wonāt survive this whole experience Raising kittens is harder than children.
OMG. My heart stopped for a second. I thought she had died.
Thank goodness you found her. Lord, these kittens - you must have white hair! I think I have a couple, too.
When Baler was still little, he would scurry alon the pony wall I have Behind my sofa - the one that leads to a 15 - 20 drop onto the stairs. I swear my heart stopped a couple of times when he went too fast and lost his balance. I would have to run over and put him some place else to play. Little idiot
No white hair yet but I am sure I have added some.
I really thought she was gone but so glad she wasnāt !
Thomas was sitting on top of the box this morning and Silo was hiding along the side and they were having a grand time with Siloās paw popping up every so often.
Thomas got so excited he misjudged when going for the paw and slid off the box , hanging by his little paws for just a second before he went over. The look on his face was priceless.
Calliby is obsessed with me cleaning the litter box. She stops whatever she is doing to make sure I do it right. They make a huge mess in there 6 cats and one box = a lot of litter to buy.
Here we go. Week 6 ( or close to it) I think my mind is goingā¦ let them free range to see if I could get a decent picture. Big mistakeā¦
Rufus exploring the loft
Calliby with BKās tail and venturing out into the loft.
Jenny exploring & playing with Calliby.
I love that age when everything is playing and tussling and seeing how big their world is. Though itās probably making you crazy. Caliby looks like a little terror. I see her mauling poor Jenny.
I am just loving this whole experience. I canāt even imagine parting with any of them??
Rufus & Calliby are the bold ones, Thomas & Jenny are my quiet thinkers. Just love seeing their personalities emerge. They can also move faster than meā¦
Yes, @shiloh they make me crazy!
I just noticed - they sure have mouserās ears!
Broke down and bought some canned kitten food. That was painful! A 24 pack for $ 12. Tiny little cans but I will put 1 out every afternoon.
Calliby seemed particularly fond of it and had a healthy meal yesterday.
Barn Kitty has really reduced her milk production so I made the call to the low cost spay/ neuter clinic and she goes on Aug 16th. Even if she happens to get pregnant between now and then we should be fine the lady at the clinic said.
She did some juggling to get us in that soon. Bless her
I canāt keep anyone in the pen anymore. This morning everyone was running amok and having a grand time while BK watched . At least they stay in the loft. I put them all back in this morning but I am not worried too much.
I have no idea how they are getting out
It sounds like you have achieved kitten mosh pit. Hang on, it could get wild.
Oh No! What does that mean? I am afraid to ask???
It means if we could harness their energy we could save the world.
I wish I had their energy!!
I made my last ditch attempt to make the pen escape proof this morning while I waited for the farrier.
They are out right now but I will gather them up later today. If they get out after this I will have no choice but to throw in the towel and admit defeat
The problem is I am afraid they will go feral on me but I hope I got the pen fortified enough.
I think they ought to know by now which side their bread is buttered on. Is there an extra room in the house you could put them in temporarily or an office? Are you going to keep them?
Week 7
I reinforced and plugged every space I thought they may be able to get through on their pen and felt pretty good about it.
Here is what I found this morning
I throw in the towel and admit defeat! I left the small box and food water in the now open pen but moved the larger box, litter box, toys and food / water bowls outside the pen.
@shiloh they seem fine and I can walk right up to all of them when they are loose. I sat on a bale while they played around me this morning so I think we are all right.
ETA: I donāt plan on keeping them and my husband would probably kill me , so I am hoping to find homes for themāeventuallyā¦
Looks like Mama is already showing them how to be mousers.
