Jarrotsville, MD - Gelding wants 2x-3x per week work
Busy owner (work & school) needs another bum for the saddle for my 6 year old 15.3 h gelding!
He is well beyond green bean green, and is in the ‘ready to start showing’ stage of life. He is primarily working on dressage, stadium, XC to be an event horse, but we wouldn’t mind a nice hunter rider to hack him a couple days a week!
He is more a push along than a runaway, though he can have some spunk in winter. He is 95% of the time an angel, but 5% of the time has an opinion and needs a rider that can be firm (he is still green, and can look for new evasions). He is Super easy to jump, and on the flat, very easy once he gets forward. Nice gaits, but they aren’t over bouncy, and he is comfortable to sit.
I am looking for a rider that can do 2x-3x per week, and someone willing to chip in a small amount (talking less than 150 per month) on expenses for a half-lease of the horse. Great opportunity to ride a nice, fun, horse that is in a really fun stage of his training - knows enough to go on and learn more!
Would allow the rider to showing, but only if they want to! Would be happy with someone that just wants to trail ride him 3x a week too! I am an easy going horse owner, and like my horse well taken care of, but want very much for a share-boarder to get the most out of a lease and REALLY enjoy my horse. As long as nothing destructive is happening, I’m usually OK with it.
Because he is still young, and impressionable (!), I would like to find someone with soft hands/seat, that understands forward/round, but can also hack him around on a loose rein. We don’t need someone who is at the level of a professional, but someone that can keep it safe for the rider and pleasant for the horse when riding alone.
Jumping is part of the lease, but may require that jumping is done in lessons (depending on the rider).
Good horse sense is a must, as I’d like someone that I trust will get a hold of me and/or vet if things are awry!
